„To me cheating means "gaining something for yourself that others don't have". So as long as you aren't stealing from others or "cheating" others, I don't see how you're cheating.“ #50
Stealing CAN also be cheating, but it is stealing.
Cheating is to subvert rules. And this is not necessarily giving yourself an advantage over others. Even in the 80s where nearly every game was single player, we called it a cheat to give you more lives, manipulate save games, deactivate a timer or similar things.
If the rule is to play in real time, then jumping in time is a cheat. But this is not necessarily a bad thing.
Cheating in competitive multiplayer games of course is really bad. The names I have for people doing this would get me banned here
But playing a game in an „easy mode“ the game offers by itself of course shouldn‘t be called cheating.
@UmbreonsPapa 1. I myself traveled in time backwards on the Wii version to get things I otherwise would have missed. But I know this was cheating. 2. the game tries to prevent time travel (rotten turnips, etc), it does not offer it!
Everyone should know by him/herself, if he/she uses time travel. It just makes rare and special items very generic unfortunately. Seeing islands full of original statues is just boring. This was not my point. My point was calling other people fools by playing the game the way intended.
@Anti-Matter well, let me cite you: „I am not a fool to follow the slow pace gaming like that.“ #17 „The real time was a gimmick to fool players to follow the gameplay style of Animal Crossing. I am not a fool like that.“ #21
@Anti-Matter Well, the game does not offer you time travel, you have to change the system time of your Switch to do so, so this is not something the game offers. Even if you personally think this is no cheating.
But are you seriously insulting everyone not doing time travel a fool? Wow...
nearly ordered them for those 70€ plus shipping, but then realized, they are digitally in sale in Europe for about 15€ for all three... I really like to have games physically, but that difference is absurd.
It is a pity that three of the card games are totally nonsense (War, Takoyaki, Pig's Tale), as they have not a bit strategy but just luck. And I'm not a fan of Texas Hold'em, so another (additional) variation of poker (instead one of the luck based games mentioned above) would have been nice.
Getting prizes for the tournament is very frustrating. After getting every piece once, you get doubles some sort of random. But it seems, furniture is much more rare than other stuff. So in both fishing tournaments I got 4 shirts, 6 rugs, 6 wands, 3 wallpapers, more than 4 bags, but the only pieces of furniture I got a second (and not more) of are the anchor and the rack...
@Octane Well, swimming is surely not as fast as running. I like that you can choose your speed in 3 different ways. I also don‘t run all the time on my island...
What a pity, the swimsuit is some sort of tool, you cannot put it on at your dresser. I have Upright Locker at my beach, but still no use of it 😕 Fortunately when putting the swimsuit on, your other clothes remain „under“ the suit, so no extra inventory space is needed for them to store somewhere.
@KarmaGoona I have the Lab wall, thanks for the reminder. I also have the laboratory set. But what I meant were that mad scientist like items of weird computers and chairs. And I know the rocket and star items, but I miss the furniture to decorate a space ships commando bridge. Control panels and futuristic chairs.
Nothing unexpected for me. In Germany it is normal to pay a „Einfuhrumsatzsteuer“ of 19%, if the product from outside the EU costs more than 22€ (shipping costs included!). If you are lucky, small packages slip through. I was surprised by the Genki Cover Dock I backed at Kickstarter, as it was sent from an european warehouse, so no extra taxes where charged. So even at Kickstarter there are nice companies with great customer support
I hope some older items will be added. I have some ideas to build, but miss some items we had in previous games, like the cannon or the Master Sword, or the laboratory and spaceship furniture...
@stevenw45 do weeds grow on paths? Flowers do, but at my island weeds does not grow on paths yet, despite it is right next to some paths... Nevertheless, just make an empty design and lay it on your dirt path, so no flowers will grow there. Helps in front of trees, too, so the spot is always empty for whatever falls off the tree.
Edit: Just if it has to prove it, the game put some weeds on a dirt path today at my island
@KoopaTheQuick Spoilers? Those are official news from Nintendo itself! It was announced in the Switch news channel, and the screenshots in this article are from Nintendo‘s website...

Presentation of 80‘s Overdrive is phenomenal in graphics and sound, but because of the controls and the behavior of obstacle cars I never feel in control of the game. Obstacle cars are not changing lines as in OutRun, but suddenly bumping left and right over several lines like a pinball, hitting you in the side and leaving you in a full stop and with repair costs higher than your price money, leaving you frustrated already on the first three tracks. And it gets even worse in later levels with more dense traffic and police cars hunting you down. - I played many racing games of this kind back in the 80s and 90s (Crazy Cars, Lotus, OutRun, Chase HQ, just to name a few), but never felt so out of control like in this game. What a pity, I really tried to like the game...

Still waiting for the upgrade...31 active days (no time travelling), 41 bugs, 43 fishes, 63 fossils, spent 1.7 million bells at nook‘s and the able sisters, 4 stars... I‘m getting nervous

Well, folders would have been nice, but tags would be much smarter.
Button remapping just for Joy-Con/Pro-Controller... So my 8BitDo M30 remains useless for Sega Classics Collection because of the twisted C/Z/L/R buttons... such a shame...
@dkxcalibur there will be a fishing tournament every season, so the next one should be in July. Just pay attention to your message board. And such events normally go from 9am to 6pm.

@peace_n_love_92 the easter balloons did not affect spawn ratio of normal balloons I think. Easter balloons are/were much more frequently than normal balloons ever were, and normal balloons still fly every now and then. Only issue is, you cannot just listen for balloon sounds, because they appear so often
Yay! Got the picnic set recipe today! So maybe it is intentional that not everyone gets it the same day. Or it was because nothing else was to be announced by Isabelle...
@UndercoverPneuma I really don't need to "justify the game purchase to" myself as I am very happy with it. But maybe you can explain me the point of the "reviewers" complaint if I missed it. He/she didn't wrote more but gave just 0/10 with this given reason.
And I don't find it strange to send the postcards from the airport. Well, I never lived on a small island where the only way to or off the island is the airport, but it sounds logical to me. I could bring my postcards to the service center, but then someone else has to transport them to the airport...

Re: Hardware Review: Genki Covert Dock - The Perfect Travel Companion For Your Nintendo Switch
@sanderev
Output of Covert Dock is:
5V 2A; 9V 2.44A; 15V 1.66A
So it seems, it is impossible to burn the Switch with 20V, as it just does not deliver that voltage
