The one thing we've all been dreading since last year is finally here. No, it's not the scary vaccination needles - it's Bunny Day. That one day in Animal Crossing: New Horizons where everything turns into eggs, whether you want it to or not. That fish you caught? Egg. That balloon present? Egg. Your mother? Egg. Everything is egg.
On the 4th of April, Bunny Day will return to us, with new Bunny Day themed items. You can also buy items from the Bunny Day series once a day from Nook's Cranny, where they will be featured in the shop from the 28th March to the 4th April.
Aside from the items you can see in the images - bunny dresses, bunny ears, and a bunny sign - we don't yet know what items we'll be able to buy or craft. We do know one thing, though: don't ask Zipper T. Bunny why he has a zipper on his back. Don't ask.
Are you getting flashbacks to last year? Have you spoken to your therapist about Zipper T. Bunny? Let us know in the comments below.

Dear lord i'm not ready for this again
Not this year.
Can't bother me if I'm not playing the game.
Oh cool, the event that led to my wife and best friend both quitting the game, that's totally worth my time.
Not again. Please, NOT AGAIN! ðŸ˜
Oh no not again
cries in the corner
Yaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyy! Ok, yes he was a little scary. But was it really that bad last year? (I mean, come on, it’s free content!)
Stares blankly into distance slowly dying inside
I will do Time Travel again to exploit Easter stuffs.
Back to the Future, ahoy !
I will find out the secret to that zipper!!!
lolol this holiday is so bad. I do love zipper tho. He is easily the most interesting and mysterious of all the holiday NPC's. Isabelle snickers when she talks about who it might be, which makes me think it's Digby
It's funny how obnoxious and overly saturated my island got with getting those stupid easter eggs yet I played daily trying to get the Christmas items and never even found one...
If you're still playing after all this time, you've probably already gotten everything you wanted from fishing, from stones and from trees. So, the eggs replacing everything will probably be less of a headache.
On the other hand this game is still selling really well so this'll be someone's first Bunny Day.
I can't remember if I can hit Zipper with the net or not. I can't wait to find out again.
Oh god, this is the event that made me stop playing for a while. Actually I haven't played since about Halloween and was about to get back into it
@popey1980 Free content no-one asked for.
Kinda like someone burning your house down, for free!
no...

Should probably do some more fishing before the river eggs show up then
I actually restarted my island and I need to do bunny day again, but that's ok.
Miss your face over at Xbox On Kate Grey! You are a gaming journalist treasure.
Aaaand still around the same time the cherry blossom DIYs start appearing and it will be next to impossible to get them because of all the stupid eggs. Wonderful.
I quit playing after the wedding photography incident that lasted an entire month! This can't possibly be worse?
I'm sorry to say, but I liked the original Animal Crossing for Gamecube more.
New Horizon's made everything feel like a chore. Didn't like that.
I only started playing on 4/15 last year so I missed this. Nowadays I'm just getting on for a few minutes to do some daily things and water my flowers (trying to make blue roses). I can't imagine this'll be too big of a disruption...
More Bunny Day items to collect? Really? This is like undergoing a proctological exam and then finding out they forgot to do the imaging and need to start again.
I would hope Nintendo has tweaked things to make this event less onerous.
This bunny FITTINGLY looks like he could fit in Five Nights at Freddy's. I don't know which is more horrifying...
@OstianOwl
Surely they will address that this time. They won't make the same mistake again. Right? Oh crikey...
@SwitchplayerJohn oooh, well remembered!! My face is probably quite different now. I got new glasses! And a haircut!
And thank you
Bunny Day was so awful I quit playing. Making eggs replace resources instead of having them pop out with them was a huge mistake.
Oh no... not again
LOL
I didn't have an issue with Bunny Day, but I just can't will myself to be interested in this game anymore.
Got the mario magic mushrooms dotted around my island, so this trippy bunny will fit in nicely! I do feel though, that it will take a lot more than a psychedelic bunny to hold my attention coming out of lock down. PS I did wonder what happened to Dylan on the Magic Roundabout?
Will all the left over eggs from last year carry across? I've still got 100's in my inventory
I only started playing in February, so this is my first Bunny Day.
So anyone care to elaborate on all the fear and dread in these comments?
I hope they make it so annoying as the previous year ;D
@gaga64 This quote should give you a decent summary of the pure horror and it is on this very page.
"That one day in Animal Crossing: New Horizons where everything turns into eggs, whether you want it to or not. That fish you caught? Egg. That balloon present? Egg. Your mother? Egg. Everything is egg."
Oh God...it's going to be a year in gaming time as well 😱
You actually earn quite a bit of bells selling Easter crafted items.
@Alundra-1998 so random things that were already in your inventory were arbitrarily turned into eggs forevermore?
(Bunny. Day. is. Back)
(credits to Sonic Paradox, btw. i just added zipper's head on omochao's face. )
Not interested. Rather play the superior version from New Leaf. Rather play the superior game too.
Also seems like April fools will never come back, due to this terrible week long holiday that makes the game a living hell.
@gaga64 Not stuff already in your inventory, but as you fish it will come out as an egg sometimes instead of a fish. And lots of sky balloons. Maybe they will tweak it, but the sky balloons were very frequent.
I feel like what really made Bunny Day annoying was that it was too close to launch, coincided with the Cherry Blossom event, AND even got in the way of the first Fishing Tourney (IIRC). It made for a bad first impression of what future holiday events might be [and Zipper's intentionally creepy design didn't help matters].
Hopefully the patch they put out in the middle of it last year's Bunny Day event helps make it feel better than people remember.
Bunny Day was okay, kinda, but all those eggs were really annoying. Still, if they allow us to craft Yoshi eggs with them this year to coincide with the Mario update, I can forgive them.
@DTFaux I was just thinking the same thing. At the start, we were scrambling for natural resources and the eggs got in the way. Shouldn’t be a problem for most people now.
I got a lot of money selling Easter crafted items.
This is how we atone for our gaming sins, be strong everyone. We got through it once, we can do it again.
shudders
I'm far too casual an ACNH player to be much bothered by Bunny Day 2.0. I'm actually curious to see how it differs this time from last year.
Bunny Day was the first major in-game event and came early in lockdown last year, when people were desperately squeezing every last drop of distraction they could out of their islands. Poor Zipper was a tragic hero doomed to fail. I hope this year he's not harassed too badly, or at least he BLOWS HIS TOP in new and exciting Resetti-like ways!
One silver lining with all the eggs is that you can eat them like fruit and move trees. So if you have a big terraforming project you're planning, the event might be the time to do that project.
The event last year didn't stop me from finding new fossils, bugs, fish, and plenty of resources. Not to mention the Zipper toy sells for a ton of bells, so I never quite understood why people were so mad about finding "useless" eggs.
@SwampRabbit That is really a positive take on this - and a good idea! I have been working on an idea for an apple orchard but I mostly rather sell my fruits than eat them. Now I can eat eggs!
I still have flashbacks from the egg balloons constantly flying through the sky.
Never forget the horrors we endured
Anyone wanting in-game posters of Zipper, so you don‘t forget about him the rest of the year? I would trade them with you
...hm, haven‘t seen his poster on horror islands yet...
@popey1980 Nah it wasn't, you know the internet... it became really cool to complain about it and apparently still is
at least this shows how repeat holidays can still introduce new items, thats nice to get confirmed at least
And I just recently got over the trauma of Bunny day from last year! If there are new items, which seems to be the case, then I might have to suffer through it for the collector in me.
I had to craft everything with the eggs I collected. I even had to decorate a room entirely with Bunny Day stuff. It got me an award. I saved all the decor, so I can actually sell the eggs I get, and earn a good profit.
@YoshiAngemon I still have the egg clock in my house. It‘s so funny with the chick appearing each full hour
Is there any reason to do this again? I have all the stuff from last year still.
i got my mum acnh for christmas and I've been warning her about this ever since she loves fishing so much and i know its gonna kill it for her >.<
Would be nice if they overhauled holidays every year. Oh well. Wake me when it’s over.
What a bunch of babies.
Zombie bunny day would have been great. But no we get this and in pastel 100.
@Nico85 I couldn't agree more, seems to be the norm nowadays (I sound like an old man moaning!)
tbh this good for me gotta restock my other character with some eggs also eggs from diving underwater are most likely back like in new leaf
I'm actually a little excited for this, I absolutely love that new sign post, I hope the rest of the new stuff look nice too, wasn't a big fan of the original bunny day furniture, only really liked the wreath, garland, balloons and basket .
Hopefully, Nintendo will change the egg finding part up a bit.
All those darn eggs. I probably won’t invest too much into this event again.
OMG... is it that time of the year again °3° It is BUNNY TIME ^3^ I can't wait for it, I loved it so much ♡3♡
I'm curious now: Why is everyone so dreadful about Bunny Day?
I missed Bunny Day, but from the article it sounds like Halloween. One special day, and a week of buying stuff from the store to decorate?
Nothing can be worse than Christmas. A full month of a "holiday" and not getting a single item, not being able to buy a single item, and getting, at best, one item as DIY from a balloon.....a total waste of a holiday that may as well not have existed at all, followed by a single day to do the main event which is a day you're probably too busy to do the event.
What is so dreaded about Bunny Day?
@TheLightSpirit sigh the day we talk about special events being unwanted because they interfere with grinding for resources in an animal crossing.... Why not just play WoW at that point?
@gaga64 look dude, on bunny day, most of your resources are gone, because they were replaced by river eggs, or your fruits were replaced by eggs it is so much egg stuff for some furniture it is terrible, it is the worst thing that happened in the game for all of us guys who are oldies, and zipper is freaky, he could be a human inside of the costume
