As had been promised when the game's Version 1.5.0 update was released, Animal Crossing: New Horizons' NookLink app has now been updated.
The update introduces a new feature which allows you to quickly perform Reactions in-game by using your smartphone. As you can see in the image below, you can simply tap on your chosen Reaction from a menu, getting rid of the need to cycle through your favourite poses on your Switch.
The update doesn't appear to have rolled out everywhere at the time of writing, so don't worry if you can't find the option to use Reactions on your NookLink app just yet. We're sure it'll be with you very soon indeed.
In the meantime, let us know what you think of this new feature in the comments. It sounds like it'll make communicating with friends much easier when checking out each others' islands!

I wish this could be used by family members with child accounts.
I like it; Nintendo exercising how to make an app more of an app that is usable vs. the official Nintendo app.
eh not really a fun thing when people could just do it in their games..i- honestly don't see the big usage of this at all..
@MidnightLaces the app is useful for typing faster, especially when trading or visiting someone - so being able to access the reactions is a useful addition to that (albeit hardly game changing!).
Also, the limited amount of quick to use reactions does make this a better way to access a wider range more quickly. But again, we're talking minor improvements here!!
@nocdaes it really isn't, i mean if you want me to be blunt than here; if you really need a phone application to do something that your game already has, that you can access to it easily you are gravely lazy as heck, and that's honestly sad.
'minor improvement' - no not really .....there is no improvement here just a boring update that isn't useful at all lol.
@MidnightLaces typing on a phone is way faster than typing on a switch what are you talking about lol, im not even sure if you tried it out before. AC's in game setup for sending messages and emotions are a slog ill gladly take the option to use them faster
Jeez, now they're making us use a mobile app to emote in game. LOL
I just realized:
All unlocked passport titles of higher stamps are gone!? (At least in the German version)
Can anyone confirm?
@Silly_G you can already emote in game without the app. the app is just giving the option to always have them open and ready to use
@MidnightLaces actually what @nocdaes says is quite to the point. It is an excellent addition for all the reasons he explained to you. Too bad you are not willing to listen to them and understand them.
Ha the app is once again aiding us in avoiding standing there thinking like a goof for 15 seconds.
@MidnightLaces I assure you, it is much easier to chat through the phone app than it is on the Switch itself. It's not a matter of being lazy. I also don't know if it was done on purpose to push you to use the app. But then built-in chat function is criminally cumbersome and user-unfriendly.
hopefully it does not work as badly as the UK Covid App??!!
@MidnightLaces useful for getting clips without the reaction wheel being in the clip
@Silly_G not making you they are giving you an extra option to use them
@UmbreonsPapa no it's people being lazy, if you get overly sensative on chatting with your friends over the chat the game has - cannot have patience than again sad xD nothing is gonna change this matter there. to put it simple y'all wouldn't last with the original animal crossing chat system 🤣🤣 ima be honest here. It was pretty fast because you can technical use the touch screen but some people strongly believed it was slow when it wasn't- same thing with the chat on new horizon. I have, others as well got no problem using it. the application for nintendo, and this - is completely useless. it's not useful at all, the only thing that is objectively great about this app was the qr built in feature it has, cause without that - again will be dead, nobody will use it.
@CodyMKW eh I guess that's useful? but still not much of a huge deal.
@boxyguy again proving my point here lol if you wanna be lazy than go right ahead and why do i need to try something that is already in the game itself? I'm not that lazy lol shiet will be sad tbh.
@Cosats I mean it's not my fault that you got triggered over me pointing out a fact; it's in the game why the heck do you need a darn application to do something that you can easily access and use in a game? like what is so hard for you to comprehend this?
there was no point this person made at all xD
@MidnightLaces having options to do things faster isnt exactly lazy lol. but it sure man have fun typing on a switch screen, youre really sticking it to those phone typers
@boxyguy don't feed the troll.
@IronMan30 yeah i was done talking around that point anyway
@boxyguy The app really is great, in fact, ACNH makes good use for it (fwiw).
@MidnightLaces why you being such a jerk about a frigging app feature? It’s clearly a helpful feature (typing faster on external device, doubly so if you are docked); and like people have said repeatedly to you, great for reaching reactions that aren’t in the wheel.
It isn’t a “game-changer” by any means, but it is useful to many, hence why loads of people use it! Why doesn’t it bother you so much that it exists?
@MidnightLaces
I don't think there is much of a difference in handheld when you can use the touch screen but if you're playing it docked then it will definitely make a difference. When messaging on PS4 I frequently used the app because it was miles quicker than using the controller. It also means you can let people know if you are afk or whatever through it. I haven't tried it but I imagine you don't have to stand still while typing either because you don't have to bring up a menu. Not life changing but nice to have the option.
people hating on the app's new feature when the new feature isn't even out yet NintendoUK posted about it too early nobody has the update yet but the update should hopefully be out this week maybe Friday
I won't comment on new feature i don't have it yet, i wish they'd give us more storage, surely it's just a simple feature to implement that some will appreciate.
