Re: Nintendo Direct Partner Showcase July 2025: Every Announcement, Game Reveal, Trailer

I’m sorry to say, but I’m regretting the purchase.

After waiting this long for the NS2, I assumed we would be bombarded with a ton of great new games.

I’m glad there are those out there who are enjoying the games released and announced to-date, but I’m definitely not one of them.

Had I known it would be so underwhelming, I would have waited, rather than give Nintendo the benefit of the doubt.

PSA: Don’t pick up Fantasy Life i unless you are prepared to allow it to consume your time like a puppy consumes kibble.

I haven’t been this hooked on a game in a long time. It’s delightful, and I’m happily glued to my Switch, but holy hell this game has its claws in me…

You’ve been warned.

I’ve played a few hours now. Was bored at first, thinking it was just shiny graphics… I was wrong.
There is so much polish, nuance, and love in this game! So much to discover, explore, and enjoy!

I’m a grown man in his 40s, and I feel like a kid again, smiling and laughing more playing this than I have any other game in a good while.

Well done, Nintendo - you’re crushing it lately!

Re: Nintendo Today Video Showcases The New Switch 2 Pro Controller

tweaknmod

Look great. BUT why on earth is Sony the only one who makes a controller that’s relatively quiet when the sticks hit the edge of the controller?

The original pro controller makes a loud click sound each time I move the stick far enough for it to hit the edge of its movement area. This can get really annoying for those I live with who don’t/aren’t playing…

Re: Switch 2 Units Are Reportedly Selling For $40,000 On The Chinese Black Market

tweaknmod

@Lizuka The value of money is subjective.
You wouldn’t pay $40,000 for an early Switch 2, but would you pay $.40?

There are many people on this earth so insanely wealthy that $40,000 is virtually the same as $.40 might be to the average person.

Further, accessory manufacturers, or other types of businesses I can’t think of, might benefit greatly by getting an early physical copy such that $40,000 is a small investment to get a leg up on competition.

Personally, I still think it’s nuts, but then again I’m not the target audience of the person trying to sell this thing for $40,000.

Re: Rumour: Diablo 4 Is Claimed To Be In Development For Switch 2

tweaknmod

1. As AAA gave development costs balloon with the giant game developers, they are finding their game vaults to be a viable revenue source, since ports and remasters are much cheaper to make than building new games from scratch.

2. There are many people who never played some of those older generation games, so they would be a fresh audience for updated versions.

2. Nintendo saw/heard the feedback from devs that porting to the Switch was difficult due to hardware limitations and platform constraints.

They have certainly improved the hardware capabilities, but I’m willing to bet they have also specifically addressed porting by developing tools for publishers to do so easily and cost-effectively.

The Switch 1 was an indie and previous-gen port paradise, and I only see this increasing, which makes me happy.

Re: Talking Point: Everyone Else Is Busy Revealing Switch 2 - What Gives, Nintendo?

tweaknmod

@AG_Awesome I’m confident that’s it, exactly.
A bigger and nicer Switch was easy to predict - it was all but certain. What isn’t certain is what this Switch can do that the previous one can’t, and I’m willing to bet that will be much more than just more graphical power.

Nintendo has a mandate to push boundaries of what forms fun games can take. I can’t imagine they will only make the same thing but a bit better (that was the OLED Switch’s job).

It’s my belief that Nintendo isn’t rushing this or isn’t feeling pressured to reveal things early in spite of the leaks because they have an ace up their sleeve, and I’m excited to see what that is.

I don’t think it will be absolutely mind blowing, but I do think it will be novel, and I do think it will be worthy of a Switch successor as opposed to a mid cycle refresh.

Just because it’s fun to speculate I’m guessing that they will revisit the concept of two screen gaming. You can use your switch as a standalone device. Or you can use it as a controller that wirelessly connects to the dock on your TV so the menu functions or maps are on the switch in your hands and the main gameplay on the TV. The C button is “Connect” - as-in connect to the TV dock.

Basically, I think they are going to do what the Wii U tried to do all those years ago. Or maybe it’s that I hope that they will try that….

Re: Nintendo Reportedly Showed 'Switch 2' Demos To Developers At Gamescom

tweaknmod

@vyseofhr Agreed. I find the current-gen graphic claims tough to believe.

I’m betting on the hybrid model performance of the current Switch (docked being more powerful) dialed-up to eleven.

What I imagine is the dock having extra hardware (like an eGPU) to enable better performance when on the tv but also streaming that performance throughout the local wifi network when you pick it up. When fully portable (outside the home), it’s limited to basic-level performance.

Oh, and I’ll double-down and bet it’ll be called the Super Nintendo Switch.
