Re: Wonderful 101 Kickstarter Backers Hit With Customs Charges And Handling Fees

It's not Kickstarter's fault. If anything it's Platinum Games. I've supported a couple of Kickstarters that would ship me a physical item and the campaign always stated that the cost of the pledge to pre-order the item includes taxes and shipping fees. If the UK is a special case that requires import tax (I live in North America), then the campaign should have stated "Sorry, UK backers, but because of UK law, you need to pay X more." Then UK backers could decide "is this worth it?" before putting down the money.

Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl #49 - Bust-A-Move / Puzzle Bobble

I didn't play this game until about a decade ago when I learned Bub and Bob were in it. I played the heck out of Bubble Bobble on the NES when I was young. If I saw the SNES cover when I was young, and maybe I did, who knows, I forget, I probably would have or did pass it over because of the odd cover. Why am I shooting what looks like marbles in space?

Re: Sega Celebrates Its 60th Anniversary With A Micro Version Of The Game Gear

I appreciate the various colors, but really? Tying specific games to them is not a good idea. I'd be okay with $50 for one console with all games, but $200 to play everything? And it's the only way (correct me if I'm wrong, but that's the impression I'm getting so far) to get that magnifier, which I most likely need because I have very bad eyesight?

I understand the hate on emulation, but $200 to legally play 16 Game Gear games is a joke.

"There's a strong argument to be made that Pong needs a modern revamp more than any other gaming classic."

Not sure if the argument can truly be made, but it already has one. Pong Knock Out, a 4 player arcade machine that is pretty much 3D Pong. The "ball" is a cube on top of a magnet that freely slides across the board and 4 players try to put the "ball" into the goals, same as regular Pong. It's simple, yes, but if you get a good group going, it's quite fun.

"The shotgun, which you unlock with the first half-hour of the game, is so powerful in terms of range and accuracy that you can practically snipe distant enemies with a well-placed slug."

I'm sold. Sometimes it's nice to be an action 80s hero and shoot your gun in the air and watch an enemy ahead of you drop dead, cause you're just that awesome.

Re: Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1 And 2 Remasters Officially Revealed, But They're Skipping Switch

Just this morning, I saw a little kid on a skateboard deck, minus wheels, in his front yard, pretending he was skating and doing tricks. I laughed and called him the next Tony Hawk. My younger brother said "Uh, who?" and I died a little inside, feeling my age.

I hope that a Switch port is coming eventually, perhaps a year or two like other games seem to do. In the meantime, I might pick it up on the PS4.

Re: How Well Do You Know Mario?

8/10. I got his age and number of Switch titles with his name in it wrong. He's in his mid-20s, really? I always figured the mid-30s, even back in the NES era.

I had to Google what a Sommelier is after the fact, and it's a wine steward, "a trained and knowledgeable wine professional, normally working in fine restaurants, who specializes in all aspects of wine." (Wikipedia.) Mario spent most of his career stomping baddies, how about a new game where he stomps grapes?

Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl #40 - Mega Man

@Haywired Some gamers of the time were also obsessed with power and graphics. I was a kid during the Sega/SNES era so the rivalry between the system on my playground was fairly friendly, but I've seen screenshots of the old BBS boards (a very early Internet forum in the late 80s/early 90s) where people argued about the tech side of the hardware for consoles and computers alike and claimed superiority when their preferred gaming machine was more powerful.
