Re: Soapbox: 10 Reasons Why Metroid Fusion Is The Best Game In The Series

I haven't been able to get into any of them.

They're too Castlevania like in control. Very imprecise and just maddening to me. Tried NES/Snes versions and neither do it for me. Maybe if it were more Contra than what it is I might like it more. Too cramped, shooting is awful, and movement though better than Castlevania suffers for the cramped areas. OK let's fight this boss... Nope; gotta fight the controls the whole time.

I can't play games like that.

Re: Talking Point: As The Fan-Made 2D Metroid Prime Game Is Shut Down, Where Do You Stand On Nintendo's Takedowns?

I think all game companies should bless it to be honest.

Maybe contact the folks that made it and have them put in some disclaimer or a link to Nintendo.com or something but I don't see the harm.

I have no clue if all companies are like this or just Nintendo. Has anyone made a fan version of Ratchet and Clank or Halo or anything? If so did they get tore down too?

I mean let's face it. This thing (and AMR2 before) are NOT competing with the new Metroid coming out. It's apples and oranges when you look at the comparisons. N's stuff is just better. Like Ferrari being angry at someone for putting a lookalike kit on their Fiero. Sure it's interesting (if done well) but no one is mistaking it for a real Ferrari.

@Joeynator3000

Yeah the 'arcade' 2 nes game was actually pretty decent despite the cuts that had to be made.

I've always wanted a cart/download of all the TMNT games. Yeah the first NES one was bad but from there on they were pretty great.

edit: yeah I have the roms but I'd like something in a 'collection' or more official I guess. Same with Darius/Gradius.

Re: Cruis'n Blast Track Showcase Emphasizes Its Wacky Side

I wish they'd release the other's on a compilation cart.

This one looks ok and I might buy it but I'm not super into all the silly stuff and jumps and what not. I know they all are a bit crazy but this definitely looks a bit much like San Francisco Rush which I hated.

Will wait for reviews.

Re: Valve's Steam Deck Might Be The Closest We'll Get To A Switch Pro In 2021

sword_9mm

@ArcticSin Huh? Steam boxes were a total crash and burn.

I like the 'handles' but the button/stick ergonomics look awful. Take those touch-pads out cause I don't care to play mouse games portable.

We'll see how it does. I expect battery life to be pretty abysmal playing anything pushing that apu; like the Switch I suppose. Interesting to see where it goes and if a v2 fixes some of the problems this thing will surely have.

Re: Talking Point: Why Did Nintendo Give Up On Its 'Classic Edition' Concept So Soon?

sword_9mm

It is odd.

N loves nothing more than to sell and re-sell the same games multiple times so you'd think they'd keep bringing out the minis then the games on Switch for that double/triple/quadruple dipping.

It's probably more so that N just has some very short-sighted terrible management. I'm not sure which side of the Pacific the issue is. I'd wager Japan since Sony seems to also do a bunch of dumb stuff.

Then again IIRC Sega of America was the bad one for them so it's hard to tell which side is the awful side. Of course why not both could also be the answer.

Re: Immortals Fenyx Rising's 'The Lost Gods' DLC Adds New Top-Down Gameplay, Out Today

sword_9mm

I played through the first area on PS5 then shelved it for GOW3 (which I've completed) and Ratchet and Clank (which I'm close to finishing). After R&C I'll probably get back to Immortals and work on completing that. Then maybe the DLCs when they drop cheap.

Open world games take me a while and I end up dropping/coming back to them over the course of time. GTA game tend to be the exception since they're pretty much the gold standard imo.
