They were fun coop games. Pretty much the best that's going to get put on the Switch unless they want to dig up the old code and port the PS1 games over.
edit: why do people keep posting that these are 'mobile' games. They started on the 360 I believe not the iphone. There IS mobile tomb raider but these ain't it.
I play handheld but won't upgrade just for a new screen.
Honestly I don't think I'll ever upgrade. I don't play enough. Just need to get Luigi's Mansion and Cruisin' and will probably be done with N products.
They're too Castlevania like in control. Very imprecise and just maddening to me. Tried NES/Snes versions and neither do it for me. Maybe if it were more Contra than what it is I might like it more. Too cramped, shooting is awful, and movement though better than Castlevania suffers for the cramped areas. OK let's fight this boss... Nope; gotta fight the controls the whole time.
Cautiously hopeful for this; the games never were powerhouses but I still hope it runs well on the Switch without downgrading the res to NES levels or stuttering all over the place.
I think all game companies should bless it to be honest.
Maybe contact the folks that made it and have them put in some disclaimer or a link to Nintendo.com or something but I don't see the harm.
I have no clue if all companies are like this or just Nintendo. Has anyone made a fan version of Ratchet and Clank or Halo or anything? If so did they get tore down too?
I mean let's face it. This thing (and AMR2 before) are NOT competing with the new Metroid coming out. It's apples and oranges when you look at the comparisons. N's stuff is just better. Like Ferrari being angry at someone for putting a lookalike kit on their Fiero. Sure it's interesting (if done well) but no one is mistaking it for a real Ferrari.
I'll wait for SteamDeck 2 (if that's a thing). This imo is going to be very good for emulation. I really don't much care about 'pc games on the go' or whatever.
I wish they'd release the other's on a compilation cart.
This one looks ok and I might buy it but I'm not super into all the silly stuff and jumps and what not. I know they all are a bit crazy but this definitely looks a bit much like San Francisco Rush which I hated.
I just got an Anbernec 351V that I'm working on getting fully set up. Looks like a gameboy and plays all the things that I want (up to ps1 though I'll stick to 16 bit and older).
This thing is just a digital tchochkie imo. I read a pretty heavy piece on it and I can't believe anyone is buying one to really 'play' like a gameboy/switch/psp/whatever.
I think it's mostly for digital collectors. They'll stay boxed up for years then sold off hoping to cash in.
@ArcticSin Huh? Steam boxes were a total crash and burn.
I like the 'handles' but the button/stick ergonomics look awful. Take those touch-pads out cause I don't care to play mouse games portable.
We'll see how it does. I expect battery life to be pretty abysmal playing anything pushing that apu; like the Switch I suppose. Interesting to see where it goes and if a v2 fixes some of the problems this thing will surely have.
N loves nothing more than to sell and re-sell the same games multiple times so you'd think they'd keep bringing out the minis then the games on Switch for that double/triple/quadruple dipping.
It's probably more so that N just has some very short-sighted terrible management. I'm not sure which side of the Pacific the issue is. I'd wager Japan since Sony seems to also do a bunch of dumb stuff.
Then again IIRC Sega of America was the bad one for them so it's hard to tell which side is the awful side. Of course why not both could also be the answer.
I played through the first area on PS5 then shelved it for GOW3 (which I've completed) and Ratchet and Clank (which I'm close to finishing). After R&C I'll probably get back to Immortals and work on completing that. Then maybe the DLCs when they drop cheap.
Open world games take me a while and I end up dropping/coming back to them over the course of time. GTA game tend to be the exception since they're pretty much the gold standard imo.
I'd still put Link to the Past at the top. I wish they'd get rid of the 3d nonsense and go back to overhead. Just do it with super high res art and bam. Instant awesome.

Re: Digital Foundry Begins GTA Trilogy Analysis, Describes GTA 3 On Switch As A 'Big Mess'
@fenlix
I watched the DF thing on GTA3 and yeah; this this needs to be buried with those ET carts.
I mean; it's a total mess. The BEST version: PS4 version on the PS5. That should tell you something about the mess they released.
Cash grab 100%. Rockstar should be ashamed. I'd rather just play on the PS2.
Re: GTA Trilogy Fans Aren't Happy With Some Of The Changes In The 'Definitive' Remaster
@RupeeClock
Especially at the price they are asking.
I'd have just been fine with uprezzed/60fps (not Switch but I wouldn't buy it on Switch: 30fps for that dog).
I'd pay 60$ for them to put it all in the same engine GTAV/Red Dead 2 is running + keeping the OG music.
As it stands. Nope.
Re: Gallery: Rockstar Shares First Screenshots Of The GTA Trilogy For Nintendo Switch
@Thatsalie Well I mean the Switch is OLD. Like Grandma Old.
Hell the PS5/XBSX are slow trash too. PC is so faster it's crazy now.
Re: The Horrifically Brilliant Mega Drive Shmup 'Gynoug' Is Coming To Switch
reminds me of Lords of Thunder.
Re: Review: Marvel's Guardians Of The Galaxy: Cloud Version - A Disastrous Way To Play A Great Game

Heh. In the US 50-100 years MIGHT get us 20mb broadband all over; also most likely a 10mb cap.
Re: Tomb Raider Will Finally Make Its Switch Debut With Two Lara Croft Titles In 2022
I have em on Steam.

Re: Soapbox: Nintendo's N64 Emulation Is Serviceable, But Treasured Memories Deserve Better
Typical Nintendo.
Nothing to see here.
Re: Analogue Pocket Is Getting Its Own OS - Allowing Users To Explore, Discover And Preserve Video Game History
@MattyHammo
What Nintendo news? The Switch is old as the hills and they're going to keep on keeping on with it?
Oh and maybe there's another pokemon or something. something smash bros? that's about it.
Re: GTA Trilogy's Definitive Edition Will Reportedly Feature 'GTA V-Style Controls'
Unreal engine...
Hmm; now why wouldn't they have used the engine they have and GTAV runs on? Odd choice. Let's see how it works out.
We need some dang video of it. If they remaster it enough I'm in ; if it's still very 'PS2' then I'll probably wait for a big price drop.
Re: Gallery: Nintendo Switch OLED Vs Standard Switch - The Key Differences In Pictures
Are they going to keep selling the Switch 1.0?
I figured that one is gone and all that's left is Switch 1.01 and Switch Lite.
Re: Hardware Review: Nintendo Switch OLED - The Screen's The Star

Re: Soapbox: 10 Reasons Why Metroid Fusion Is The Best Game In The Series
I haven't been able to get into any of them.

I can't play games like that.
Re: Review: Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot + A New Power Awakens Set - An Iconic Story Retold Well
I might pick this one up on PS5 if there's a native version. Or PS4 back compat if that's all there is and it's dirt cheap.
I like DBz. Heck I started playing the first GBA side scroller a week or so back. Never knew they had 2 of those so roms; why not.
Re: Crysis Remastered Trilogy Gets A Nintendo Switch Launch Trailer
@BloodNinja
Kinda happens when the newer hardware is thermally constrained so much.
This doesn't look bad in my eyes as long as it's locked 30fps. Not buying or anything but not bad.
Re: The First Switch OLED Comparison Video Has Surfaced
@NEStalgia
Too bad they kept the internals @ 2004.
Re: PlatinumGames' Hideki Kamiya: Bayonetta 3 Will 'Exceed All Your Expectations'

Re: Platinum Really Wants To Show You Bayonetta 3, But It Can't

Re: Cruis'n Blast Hits The Throttle In New Vehicle Showcase

I still want a collection of the old ones....

Re: Dying Light Platinum Edition Is Heading To Switch
Maybe they could downport it to the Quake engine and maybe get 30fps out of it.
Re: Now, This Is What Next-Gen Pokémon Should Look Like
The 'area' looks nice but the people look terrible.
Looks like it's running on an high end PC. Wonder what it'll look like cut down on the PS5/XBSX.
Re: Talking Point: How Much Would You Pay For A Mint Copy Of Super Mario Bros.?
I'd pay a buck for it.
Re: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder's Revenge Teased For Gamescom 2021
@Joeynator3000
Yeah the 'arcade' 2 nes game was actually pretty decent despite the cuts that had to be made.
I've always wanted a cart/download of all the TMNT games. Yeah the first NES one was bad but from there on they were pretty great.
edit: yeah I have the roms but I'd like something in a 'collection' or more official I guess. Same with Darius/Gradius.

Will wait for reviews.

Yeah; I thought about that too. For the 100$ I paid the emulation box is fine for now but I'll probably upgrade/go a different way eventually.

It's the Switch. Anything not pixel art (if even that) struggles.

Same.
Switch 2 I guess in a few years whenever the shortages end... If ever.
Re: Zelda: Skyward Sword HD Will Have "Various Quality-Of-Life Enhancements", Nintendo Says
Never played this one cause motion controls stink but now they're fixing that with buttons I might grab it eventually.
Re: Review: Fighting EX Layer: Another Dash - A Solid Street Fighter EX Spin-Off For Connoisseurs
Why did the gfx have to be cut so much? Doesn't look too taxing (looks like a PS3 fighter to me).
Not my cup o' tea but odd to say the least.

Funny either way.
Re: Dragon Quest XII: The Flames Of Fate Is Running On Unreal Engine 5

What's on UE5?
If it's that Resident Evil Village then no. UE5 looks gross. Or maybe that's Capcom sucking yet again.
Re: Switch Hardware Sales Beat Xbox Series X|S And PS5 Combined, Unsurprisingly
@Dragwhite
I'm playing Immortals on my PS5 and as much as a direct rip off it is of BOTW I like it better. No weapon breakage = much better game.
Hate the vaults as much as I hated the shrines in BOTW.
Re: Cruis'n Blast Could Be Coming To Nintendo Switch
I'd love to see the whole cruis'n series come out.
AND Fzero but I guess that one is truly dead.
Re: Hands On: From Xbox Series X To Nintendo Switch, The Falconeer: Warrior Edition Soars

I'll bet you already hate the PS5/XBSX.
A LOT of dynamic resolution happening on those 2 with Returnal actually upscaling 1080p per DF.
I'm assuming you're a PC gamer though who worked/lucked into a 3080.
Re: Random: Fans Are Having A Field Day Reviewing Nintendo Switch's Calculator

That'd probably be worth 10$ or whatever it costs. Those things are what, 100$ standalone?

Not just N. A lot of old video game stuff is interesting.
I need to box my PS3 and hook up my 3DO. I'm sure fond memories will sour real fast but why not. Now does this TV have AV inputs.......
Re: Review: Stubbs The Zombie In Rebel Without A Pulse - A "Cult Classic" That Has Aged Like Milk
Maybe THIS game will run well on the Switch.
Dipping all the way back to 2001 to get a game that might keep a steady framerate.
