Re: Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom Has Surpassed 10 Million Sales In Three Days

@Bret

He's not a Nintendo fanboy?

I mean breaking of the weapons soured me on it and this is running on a potato so I might pick it up if N ever releases a new console and it can BC/upgrade framerate.

But Breaking of the Weapons really ruined LoZ for me. Doesn't help that the world is barren and really boring. Walking simulators are more interesting.

For me I've not yet come across it but again; I've never been all that into things like that.

Contra plays just fine to me on an emulator compared to a Nes sitting by the TV. Mario World the same, etc.

The games you are probably thinking of I never got into anyway. Maybe something like Mega Man which I thoroughly detested from day 1.

So nah; I'm good with emulation. YMMV of course.

I know what fpga's do. I don't care about all that.

If I were to limit to 16 bit era stuff this thing is fantastic from the reviews but I don't care about full perfect timings/etc. I don't play professionally so no biggie to use emulation for me.

Nice. I don't think I'm going to mess with one of these though as I want to get a good portable PS2 emulator so it'll be a Steam Deck or some form like that.

Nice system for sure. Maybe they'll make a more upgraded one eventually but from what I understand there's some pretty heavy ram limitations in this one. Could be mistaken as I'm no expert on emulation.

Re: Nvidia Employee Comment Confirms Chip Rumoured To Be Used In 'Switch Pro' Is Real

@NintendoKnight

Switch2 or bust imo.

The pro consoles were stop gaps due to 4k and nothing more. I don't think you'll see that this gen.

As long as it's BC fully with Switch 1 then it's all good. I'd like to see BC being incorporated for every gen possible for all makers. It's just good consumer sense; which we all know isn't how these companies (except maybe MS sometimes) even operate.

@pilonium64

I don't disagree wrt the 60fps comment but don't think N should abandon the Switch form factor.

The XBSX/PS5 are UE4 1440 60fps consoles and you're going to be real disappointed when UE5 stuff is 30 fps with all sorts of dynamic tricks.

IMO 60fps should be standard across it all but that's a tall ask for developers that like to cram in all the things that cripple slower systems. I can't huck a real gfx card into my PS5 to make it capable; I'm stuck with the old busted AMD stuff it came with. Same with N's stuff.

Re: Video: Digital Foundry Investigates Switch's Lowest Resolution Games

@wicktus

Yeah. Some portable with some dock ++ attachment breaks the whole thing N is going for imo. At that point just make a home console with all the power you can and re-send the portable side back to game boy type stuff (limited type portable games).

The Switch needs a follow up and that follow up could upscale old games (MS does it and adds HDR). I don't think it can ever be on par with what is plugged in under a tv of course unless science makes a huge breakthrough in either CPU tech or battery tech. It's still going to be 'slow' compared to something that can eat 500W from a wall jack.

Re: Video: Masahiro Sakurai Talks About Frame Rates In Games

sword_9mm

Consistency first and foremost. Frames and frame pacing.

Next comes 60 fps. That should be the bar and games should be designed around that if at all possible.

30 fps is the bare minimum of playability and it needs to be rock solid. No dips or pacing issues.

VRR helps as long as it's done right. Sony dropped the ball there and I'm not sure N would ever support it given that they're allergic to technology.

Re: Netflix Cancels Resident Evil Series After First Season

sword_9mm

I couldn't make it through ep 1.

The CGI RE show isn't cancer causing so maybe that one will stick around but that new one; hoo boy.

And the poster talking about She-Hulk; yeah. Even the ads/FX shown make that look like some half-funded Disney Channel effort. So bad.

Re: The Aya Neo Air Is A $600 Switch Lite-Sized Pocket PC

sword_9mm

Interesting if only for a more fully compatible/easier to deal with emulator console.

The little chinese things are ok but something more robust/running a real OS with better support is something I might be interested in eventually.

Battery life is a big sticking point for sure.
