Yeah. N hates to not be able to sell the same games each gen.
I'd love an infinitely backwards compatible 'Switch' with upgrades say every 2 years. Eventually the old ones won't do new stuff but that's just console life.
N only censored the first MK game here in the states (All of em had green blood on all the consoles in JP due to their laws) but stopped censoring after. MK2 and beyond was full gore as was everything else for that time period.
They lost devs on the N64 cause the stupid cartridges compared to CDs. That was when N started showing that they really didn't understand anything and were going to do what they wanted come hell or high water. IF the N64 had a cd drive like the PSX then they wouldn't have lost Square and FF and all the other stuff.
Move on to the GC and again N is dumb as rocks and used that stupid mini-disc. IF they would've continued on with DVD (for the space) then they'd still have gotten the games.
N's downfall in the tv console space was N and N's alone. If they didn't get so butt-hurt over the Sony/SNES stuff and did the right things there may not even be an xbox today. Just a N and Sony console.
Funny; look at your BOTW cart. The E is on the right and the Nintendo oval on the left instead of how all the other carts I have do it (E on the left, N oval on the right). So looks like N doesn't have a 'set in stone' design template on these things in general.
EDIT: The other carts I have are Mario/Rabbids, Mario Kart, and Zelda Link's Awakening.. Also my pre-order just showed up so I won't be getting any work done the rest of the day.
It's a stupid mechanic and I have run out of weapons several times.
I didn't like it in System Shock or Last of Us either so I quit those games.
It's no fun. If you like it fine; I do not and won't buy another game with that mechanic. Just no fun. I also don't like games that make you eat to survive or any of that other crap so whatever. Enjoy it; I'll skip it.
Huh? N has most of their games out now except for Metroid. What am I missing? Is there a new Pilotwings on the way? FZero? Starfox?
I mean I guess you can hang your hat on maybe a BOTW or Odysee sequel but that's not going to blow my skirt up. Unless the new BOTW2 does away with the stupid weapon degradation. If so I may actually play that one and try to beat it.
SD didn't bother me but the motion stuff was abysmal other than maybe bowling. Couldn't play Twilight Princess for more than about an hour before I gave up. Mario Galaxy the same.
I lolled when Sony/MS got dumb and tried it after wii sports was selling wiis. Kinect was a travesty and the dumb sixaxis was stupid as the day is long.
I guess it won't matter since most of the games are 2d indie stuff and old ps3/wii-u ports anyway so I guess it should be good enough until N can come up with some most likely gimmicky thing to replace it.
Probably a ball with a screen on it where you kick and yell at it for controls. Or something else stupid (I hate the Wii so much).
LOL. Welcome to PC land you console kids. Now you're going to get sliders for performance. What a sham.
Consoles are to play a game that's static. Now they're going PC on it. So funny. And that PS5 super console is a sham as well. The new 3000x series is already killing it. Enjoy it console kids.
So what your saying is even the PS5/XBSX won't be good enough for you since most of those games will also be 30fps. Ratchet/Clank already don't even hit a full 30 consistently.
I mean if your PC master race then fair enough; me too but claiming 30fps isn't good enough on some hdtv is silly if you're not claiming it across the board no matter the system.
I'll probably get it anyway since i'd like to get back into sunshine and i'd rather pay 60 for all 3 than 60 just for sunshine when they start selling them individually; if they do after the march date.
The cheapest ipad is more powerful by far than a Switch.
The Switch is OLD. Super old chipset. It's been due for a refresh since it came out imo. At least there's plenty of pixel games to play since it doesn't run much else very well.
Yes and that detail level is when games are indistinguishable from movies/real life.
I mean; people still look like mannequins in even the BEST games right now. We have a LONG way to go. Maybe in 15-20 years if some processing limit isn't hit and can't be overcome but I'll wager it'll be even longer than that if it ever happens.
As for Nintendo; they aren't competing with MS/Sony anymore except in the sense of 'entertainment dollars'. Direct competition is Iphone/Android now if you want to do the 'graphics' thing but that's about it and Apple smokes that old Nvidia thing in the Switch.
I've said time and time again they should've partnered with Apple and got their ARM chips in exchange for some N titles on Apple Arcade.
But they went cheap and dirty with Nvidia and got a chip and that's about it. It's Nintendo; they haven't thought through anything since maybe the original NES.
An iphone should look much nicer than the Switch. Apple's chips are the best ARM chips in the business.
Now throttling may be a problem with an iphone but an ipad would take care of that issue. And even throttled it may still be more powerful than the dusty tegra.
I honestly had trouble playing it on the tv even back in the 360/ps3 days.
Burnout 1/2/3/revenge not as much but this one was harder to deal with. Open world probably made it odder but there was always something odd with it I can't put my finger on.
I don't think it's that from what I've read though I could be wrong. N takes the same from publishers as do Sony and MS: 11-12% according to the last place I could find it. That's strictly the fee to put it on the console.
Also if you want to do apples to apples comparisons take WHEN the game was released on the XB1/PS4: March 16 for $39.99.
Ok so either we have a legitimate argument on why the Switch copy is 10$ more than the release copy on the twins. We CANNOT compare today's prices to the Switch. That's completely unfair.
So we know the costs are basically the same for putting a game on the twins so where's the extra? Porting? Maybe but I'd assume that would just be built in to the decision to even bring it to Switch.
Cartridge? This one is fully legitimate and N is stupid for charging for them. They dug that expensive grave they can die and bury themselves in it. BUT does this game come on cart? If the review said I must not have noticed.
Maybe it's a Nintendo owner's tax? Maybe EA knows N only folks are so starved for anything they'll buy anything. I've rebought a few things on Switch for portability. Maybe that's what EA is thinking (I'm sure it is).
So the Nintendo 'tax' may be correct but for different reasons depending. It's not N's fault this time IMO. It's the publishers that are ripping us off.
The Tegra is OLD. Like Super Old. IF publishers would keep to 360 era stuff then it would be fine but they're trying to shoe-horn newer stuff and it's just not working. Sure it's 'playable' but the sacrifices are just too much imo.
This should've been Burnout Paradise with all DLC for 29$ or so with no upgraded visuals. That would've probably worked fine handheld/docked at 60 no horribad resolution.
Either publishers need to stick to simpler graphics or N needs to be hard at work building a Switch 2.
I kind of wonder why they didn't just give the switch the regular burnout with all the DLC instead of the remastered?
It would've certainly ran better. Makes no sense to me. Oh well I have it on PS3 and didn't care for it so I guess I'll skip it. Sad the price too. Price it the same as it came out for xb1/ps4 unless N is taking a larger cut then tsk tsk on N for doing that.
Here's the original ps4 blurb:
EA states the game will be available on disc and digitally from March 16 for $39.99
So EA is puttin' 10 bucks on the price. .Now if N is charging more for royalties then quit complaining. N is not a good company and will eat your money as fast as they can. A lot like Apple.
edit: quick looksee puts all 3 at 30% royalties on their stores. Not sure what else goes into that (dev kits or whatever) but that's the base I guess. I don't know if this covers 'licensing' just to make the game either. Maybe N charges too much. I wouldn't doubt it.

Switch 2 needs to be on the very close horizon is all that tells me.

That's on all my carts. Is it bigger or something on this one?

Yeah. Last I read they said it wouldn't run on the Switch.

Yeah. From what I know there were a few of those types of games. GI Joe was so good. Mame runs it pretty well so if you emu then give it a go.
Re: Review: Arcade Archives Sunset Riders - Japan's Take On The Wild West Is A Must-Have On Switch
Only played the snes version. Just bought it on Switch.
I've never even seen this in the arcade so it should be a treat.
edit: NOW can Konami bring GI Joe arcade out? Is that game stuck in licensing hell or do they just hate it? SO GOOD.

Loved that and 2 on the snes.
I wish they'd not double up on stuff. I get that it's a cash grab but geez; I don't need an english and jp version.
edit: welp I'm dumb. the Saturn version is in the arcade pack. Boo.

ehh. I liked the pre sequel better than 1.
