Probably a bit more than to play a ps5 game on a ps4.
N better have a switch2 ready but I'm afraid partnering with Nvidia will be shown to be a bad move.
Unless Nvidia has a much more powerful tegra out there which I don't think they do. Seems their focus is on massive gpu chips and whatever that car cpu they're doing.
It's underpowered if you just want to dock it. Get a PS4Pro/XBX if you're just going to console it.
As a portable it isn't half bad and has all the usual compromises that portables have. I still think Apple would've been a better cpu vendor than Nvidia since their ARM chips are the best in the business and Nvidia isn't the most reliable partner (think xbox) but who knows if Apple would've been into it or maybe even turned it down.
Never said it was a bad game; but it's very empty. They could've shrunk the land-mass down quite a bit so it seemed more alive.
I'd say the same thing about a lot of 'open world' games. Sure you can program out 1000 miles of area but if you can't fill it with interesting things then don't bother. GTA fits in this and I love GTA.
Not really. BOTW was a lot of just nothing and walking around. I mean there's some enemies but nothing all that interesting in vast parts of that overworld.
It's the internet. Fans of things are very tribal so I write that N leaves money on the table and they've failed to really work on the Switch (which is true, UI, Network, joycons, a lot o' things) and people get all hissy about it. Like what N does affects them or puts them in a bad light or something.
The graphics should've been hand drawn animation. I get they probably didn't have the time/budget for that so they just made it all polygons but I think it'd look much better.
I'm not a Castlevania fan at all so these games don't really resonate with me.
I'd expect the real answer is that the Switch is sometimes better and sometimes worst than the last gen. Kinda like how the WiiU was technically graphically more powerful but the CPU was slower compared to the 360/PS3. In certain games the Switch can get away with some effects and what not that the oldsters couldn't but some games are just too taxing considering the super low memory bandwidth and the concessions they made to allow portability with more than 1hr of battery life (or less).
That and it's Capcom. Lucky it even boots a game. At some point they'll just package a code that just boots a screen with a giant yellow and blue FU on it..
It's pretty rough. If they would've locked it to 30fps I think it would be better. Or got rid of the haze effect which may improve performance. I don't care for it honestly. Not sure why they did it.
I'm not 100% but I seem to remember xbox/ps stores being chock full of crap too. Even more so when MS was doing that little xbox indie store thing they killed off years ago.
N has been really bad about actually getting features into the system and fixing a lot of this stuff. I have no clue what they are doing to be honest. They have no online strategy, the system needs more UI updates, the store needs a UI update as well as some better curation (or just sticking stuff like this in some corner so no one sees it). I would hope all their attention is on the Switch2 but I'll wager it's just more Nintendo incompetence showing it's ugly head. They've been rudderless for so long they've lost all will to do things right I guess.
I guess if that's all you have then sure; you can play it but it is really bad. 20 fps, low density on cars, pop in everywhere.
I guess it's like playing big boy games on the switch. If that's all you have then sure; you can play witcher or doom; but it's best consumed on a better platform.
playing lynx games is a plus. wish i still had mine.
If it were ever hacked and roms were able to be played and it played tg16/duo/cd games it would be incredible. The vita kinda works but is too slow for some stuff like neo geo games.
Blame Nintendo. They forced the stupid expensive carts and should be giving them away to publishers but in their infinite greed and shortsightedness this is what happened.
What's really great is even a lot of disc games now on the twins are requiring 10's of gigs of downloading when you purchase the game. I just think this is how it's going to go. These companies don't want to give you physical media. They want to control the channel so they can pull/revoke the licenses at will so you need to rebuy. It's a shady game all around imo.
The weapon degradation is awful and is awful in EVERY game ever. I also don't want to mix potions, cook food, or any of that micromanagement BS. We have Elder Scrolls games for that. Adding odd-ball realism type things to a Zelda game is silly imo. How about they do the same to Mario. No you can't jump like that; find the step stool and ladders....
The shrines are BORING. The larger dungeons are much more interesting. Maybe not even dungeons but different areas to complete.
Look; it's nice they tried something different but I'd have rather they made a new series than to put Zelda in it.
Different strokes for different folks. I'm glad you enjoyed it but I've basically given up on it.
Can they get rid of the bullcrap weapon degradation?
And add in more stock Zelda stuff like large dungeons.
BOTW was interesting but as Zelda games go I don't think it was quite what I was looking for. Link's Awakening is much more what I like to see in a Zelda game.
They can change up some things but the core needs to stay relatively stable. It was like if Sony made God of War 4 a first person shooter.
Well first of all Miyamoto wasn't the bee's knees. He still couldn't get them to make a real console/deal with the internet.
As for a Switch 2? I have no idea. I don't know if Nvidia even has a chip for them. They are more worried about cars than consoles and the RTX stuff is dumb (but give them credit for getting ray tracing out and in the mix)....
Tegra 2 would be it but that's not much faster. N may be that rock and hard place like MS was with Nvidia back in the XB days. The full reason why they went with AMD/PowerPC. Nvidia and Intel were just bad for that type of thing. Maybe N will learn that.
N needs to team up with Apple. Both do overpriced gadgets that are popular. The A12 would rock games without the terrible thermal limits of a phone/tablet.
The 360/ps3 DID NOT run GTA V well at ALL.. Full stop. It was horrible.
The PS4/XB1 did it OK and that is the lowest acceptable bar of performance imo.
The Switch also has awful memory latency. Streaming an open world like GTA V would be just bad.
I mean good for those who'd buy it if it came out (it won't) but I wouldn't touch it. There's a minimum level of performance I need and the Switch just ain't there on games like that. It's an indie/N console for me now. Heck the judder in Link's Awakening is pretty off-putting imo. They should've locked that one to 30fps.
No thanks. V ran terribly on the old twins. The Switch would do it no justice.
Switch2 with GTAVI on release (if the Switch2 could actually run things)? Now we're talking.
But in reality, I would maybe grab San Andreas (with updated textures/resolution). I never finished it on PS2 and I rebought on MS Store and never really played much.
IF N get's out of real console games then it'll be because they are TERRIBLE at consoles. Where's the Switch 2? Where's the real online connectivity? Are we still using friend codes (I don't do N online so not sure there)?
EVERYTHING they've done since the SNES has been bad. Greedily holding to carts when everyone went cd. The madness of no DVD on the GC and using those dumb low density mini-discs. The stupid waggle stuff. Whatever the Wii-U was supposed to be. Clinging to the Switch sporting 6 year old hardware when they should be iterating it every 2-3 years. Not understanding what the internet is and fighting fruitlessly against it.....
The list goes on. No it won't be IOS games that will kill N's console run; It'll be Nintendo pointing the shotgun right at their own heads.

May actually run ok on the Switch so there's that.
Not for me though.

Re: Fed Up Of Your Switch Not Having A Proper D-Pad? This Case Should Do The Trick
N is leaving money on the table.
Just release a left con with the regular dpad and everyone is happy. I'd switch mine up.
The reason they haven't is yet another Nintendo oversight. Head wedged firmly in rectum.

Odd it's been downgraded from the original release.
I'd expect it to be at least a little better than an old 360 game. Oh Nintendo....
Re: The First Patch For Link's Awakening Is Probably Not The Fix You Were Hoping For

I just meant the stuttering. If they'd capped it at 30 it would hold there.

I've only played the game a few minutes a couple times but it requires a mouse/kb to be competitive.

Re: Sword And Shield's Wild Area Is About The Size Of Two Regions In Zelda: Breath Of The Wild, Says Pokémon Rep

And BOTW's land is pretty boring for the most part. Lots of walking/riding; not so much to do.
Same for skyrim. Yay; yet another dungeon/cave/castle that's just the same tiles meshed differently. BLah.

SNES though; good call.

Yeah. It didn't run Super on the PC either.
They'd have to turn it into a PS2 game to run it on the Switch.
Re: Review: The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening - A Magical Remastering Of A Series Highlight
I'll grab it eventually when the price goes down.
I get that it's been remastered/remade but it should be maybe 40$ tops. I've never played it so it should be fun.
Too bad about the framerate. N really really needs to get in gear on a switch 2.
Re: Poll: Daemon X Machina Is Out Today, Are You Getting It?
I hope it does well but it's not for me. I'm not a fan of mech games in general.
Only games I'm looking forward to are Zelda and Luigi's Mansion. Astral Chain looks interesting-ish but I'll probably skip it.

New Castlevania, IOS/Android.. hahahaha.
Re: The First Zelda: Link's Awakening Switch Review Is Now In, And It's Looking Good
Maybe day 1 for me.
I'd take 2d zelda over 3d every time. BOTW is a nifty experiment but the weapon issue is stupid and the game is so damn repetitive.
I had this game on GB but only my brother ever played it. New game to me.
