Isn't that how it's always been? The PC version should usually outperform the console versions on any game (Switch is so long in the tooth as to be a toaster now).

You get usually cheaper and better performance. You pay the console tax otherwise and get whatever the cheap system can pump out GFX wise and as we've seen the PS5/XBSX are already pretty underpowered even without RT (which they can barely do). The Switch again is more akin to a Texas instruments calculator at this point.

I really hope someone makes one of these things that's not so frustrating to load/use. The RG works fine for 8-16 bit basic stuff and it's nice that it runs TurboCD out of the box but for the life of me I can't find any good thorough guides on SegaCD/NeoGeo/Mame setup.

And I'm not jailbreaking a Switch or buying a Steam Deck. Just overkill for what I'm looking for.

I search and do all the icon stuff but I have read some just turn em off and play.

I'm not a fan of BOTW (more for the dumb weapon breakage than the 'no direction' gameplay) so for games like that I'd rather have a handy map marked up.

I ain't got time to search every nook and cranny in these things.

I was more just opining about how this is pretty much all Ubi does anymore. Assasin's Creed with different skins is about all they make.

I like the game enough and I don't really care they aped BOTW a bit but it still falls into the typical UBI map full O' icons game trope.

It's like that's all those guys can make anymore. Just a map full of icons.

I liked it enough but haven't put any time into it with the allstars cart.

I remember the music/water effects the best really.

I have the NES so I'll probably grab one of these.

240$ though is steep imo.

I have the game. The 3DO's pad was NEVER meant for fighting games. I mean NEVER with all caps.

Really want to see Road Avengers but I get that they probably wouldn't want to stuff it full of FMV games. Glad not to see crap like Night Trap and that FMV dreck.

Also the game was released on the TG16 CD (I think CD).

Awful game for sure but interesting comparing it to SF2 and the massive changes that one brought.

I'm toward the end of 1 and I'm just burned out on it and kinda quit a while back. Guess it's time to get back into it.

I have the game on PS5 and I tried to like it but something just feels off.

The combat is kinda maddening imo and the game just feels real samey for lack of a better word. Feels like you're in the same area forever and those areas aren't very interesting imo.

I'll probably try to finish it up at some point maybe.

Wish they'd release this in the US.

Too bad they probably won't. I have a fond memory of the Sega CD.

I get what you are saying (I think) but as long as these pixel things are animated well I can handle it.

I WILL say though the 'metroidvania' stuff is getting a bit long in the tooth. Kinda like 'open world' stuff. Can't we just get games that are A to B for maybe 6ish hours?

Oil will still be a thing for a good while but as we rely less and less on it that'll start impacting their bottom line.

The actual land looks fine if they'd take Sonic out and make it a different game.

I just don't see how a game like this can have framerate drops and long load times.

I guess the devs are just really green or something. Looks nice though.

Mansion of Hidden Souls was kinda fun for it's time.

If this came to the US I'd take a look at it.

The industry is in a bind right now so I don't think it's predicated on new hardware. Why are EA/Ubi looking to sell? It ain't cause XBSX/PS5 dev time/money.

N needs to be looking to a new more powerful Switch that is FULLY BC with the first. Can redownload games, works with the same cartridges, etc.

Also need to fix the store. I can't believe it's still in the shape it's in this far into the lifecycle. The company really doesn't understand the internet for some reason.

Nintendo is VERY Japanese and really should be listening to N of America more. Sega had that same issue. Sony seems to be a little better about it but looks to be backsliding into it's awful PS3 days of hubris.

Before the fix it was really bad and there didn't seem to be a reason for it.

Many games ape many other games. Strange this isn't coming to Switch but maybe it's a performance thing. I liked the remake Link's Awakening but the performance was abysmal. Dunno if that's the Switch's issue as it's basically a toaster now or the devs are just bad at optimization but man that judder/stutter was awful.

I can't. I also have Switch Mario Kart. I got Grid when they brought that over and still don't like it. I also got Burnout's port and I didn't like it on the PS3 and still don't like it on the Switch.

The Virtua Racing port is super nice if you're into those. Smooth as butter but I'm a fan of the old flat shaded look. There's also that Outrun clone that looks cool.

I will say that I kinda would rather buy stuff like the TMNT collection, SofR4, and things like that on the Switch since those types of games don't need anything more than what the Switch can do.

I'll also grab Cruisin' and Luigi's Mansion eventually.

Yeah I thought I'd like it more and it's fine but I'm done with multiple consoles and all that. Time just isn't there so I decided to just deal with one from now on. The Switch just isn't good enough to be that one imo.

Now if N iterated every 2 years then we can talk but their insistence on keeping old tech way past it's due date isn't for me. Plus I don't really care about Nintendo's games anymore which is kinda the whole point of putting up with the way they do things. Just not my bag anymore.

I'm down to a 1 console lifestyle now and that is the PS5 thus far. A new Switch would have to be something special for me to care.

Another nail in why I'm done with Nintendo.

They don't need my money but hopefully more folks ditch N and just go with MS. I can't really recommend Sony since they're almost as bad.

I hated the fixed camera and even moreso the tank controls.

RE just never was my bag. The newest vampire lady one is ok since they're basically first person shooters now but still not a fan.

I'd almost say that PS4/5 games will stop working at some point even if you have the disc. I'll bet the licensing servers will turn off eventually and all you'll have is a worthless disc/case.

Buying software is a fool's errand if you care at all about longevity/archiving.

Piracy is the only way for that stuff.

The Switch can't do these games so why do folks even buy em? At this juncture I'd expect this to sell so far below port cost that no more of these things will ever come out.

I'm thinking the only way to get anything new out of Konami IPs is someone just needs to buy the company. Nintendo would be a good candidate or Sony. MS owns enough.

The framerate was awful but it did show that there's a technical increase.

I'm not 'triggered' as I've left the N ecosystem. I've stuck with them since the NES even through the awful Wii and I've finally decided my limited game time is not going to be on something from 2004 from a company that's the most hostile to it's customer base. If i want to play BOTW2 or some Mario game I'll emulate it on PC and get a better experience.

Look; you can be in that 'graphics don't matter' contingent like the dumb Wii years but most of us are not. Enjoy 'indie retro game 100' on the Switch I guess. I'll be enjoying tech from the year 2019 instead.

Switch is too old now imo except for pixel indies which I guess if that's all you need then the Switch is fine.

I moved on to the PS5. I think I'm bowing out of Nintendo-land. Really nothing to keep me as I just don't care about Mario or Zelda (after the crap BOTW pulled).

Digital Foundry did a really good deep dive into the whole FZero franchise.

Well worth the watch if you're a fan of the games.
