UK physical chart data is now in for the week ending 30th October, revealing that Mario Party Superstars has debuted in third spot.
The Switch exclusive lost out to FIFA 22 (which is enjoying yet another week at number one), and Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy which launched physically on PS5, PS4 and Xbox Series consoles. It did manage to fend off this week's other popular newcomer Riders Republic, however, which landed in eighth place.
Elsewhere, Metroid Dread has slipped out of the top ten for the first time, now finding itself in 15th place. Five Switch exclusives can be found in the top ten though, marking another decent week for Nintendo.
Here's a look at this week's top ten all formats chart:

Aaaaw I really hoped it would get number 1 spot, it deserves it!!
If anyone hasn't bought it yet, I highly reccomend it...the online modes with random players is flawless!!!! (and a LOT of fun!)
Shame to see Metroid Dread drop out of the top ten so soon. Really hoping it can do the numbers necessary for Nintendo to green light more top drawer entries in the franchise like Dread.
I guess the Mario Party fan base is not in a rush to play this, this week.
Although it debuted in third, with Christmas coming up, I feel Mario Party might make more sales around that time. Perfect time for families to ruin their relationships 🤣
Real shame that Metroid has dropped out the top 10. It deserves to be played by everyone. I just hope the overall sales numbers are enough to make Nintendo happy
Dread hasn't done too bad in all seriousness. Echoing comments above, this should hopefully be enough for further games (beyond Prime 4).
Fully expected metro is to drop out as its a niche title, happy to see mario party there, having a blast so far and with the online multiplayer this will keep me playing for longer than the previous mario party and also hope we get some free/paid dlc for it.
Also GTA clinging on for dear life, just doesn't want to leave
Mario Party SuperStars UK retail launch sales were 6% below that of Super Mario Party. Including digital sales should put it's launch well above that of it's predecessor (especially considering that NSO vouchers didn't exist back in 2018).
With that being said, it's all about legs when it comes to Mario Party Superstars. Super Mario Party had modest launch sales but has joined the likes of Mario Kart, Breath of the Wild, Smash Bros, Minecraft, etc as one of the Switch's biggest evergreen titles.
Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury sales are holding quite strong given that the game is 8+ months old.
I prefer other sport like K-1 World GP got more attention in modern gaming consoles than football / soccer since I like Kickboxing. 🥊
@Sigmar25 It isn’t constant in Dread, it’s only in specific areas that are well-marked. Also you have tools to hide. Very different than Mr. X. I strongly suggest you play it, whatever that’s worth!
I hope Guardians of the Galaxy does well enough to convince Square Enix to move away from Games as a Service.
Metroid has never been a top seller for Nintendo thus why there are so few games compared to their other IPs. Animal Crossing was the same way in the past. New Leaf was probably the most successful game in the series before New Horizons.
@Sigmar25 Did you try the demo? As others noted, the EMMIs are not a constant threat and are limited to clearly delimited zones. They're tough at first, but at bit of practice makes it relatively easy to maneuver around them.
Metroid sales were strong only in US. Poor in Europe and near non existent in Japan. Like 3/4 of sales were from US.
Its good for the franchise it lasted 2 weeks in the UK charts. And yeah its good game but asking full price for a 2d game (meaning lower production cost as well) is a little too much. I mean i bought hollow knight for 6$ on some other ecosystem which is just as great game
@Sigmar25 it’s not worth 60$. It’s way too short for that amount of money. And it’s like you said, pretty frustrating to get chased in games.
Nintendo should do the additional joycon pack again with Mario Party. It would sell well in time for the holidays.
For Metroid standards, Dread sold very well.
The biggest problem for Dread is price. The quality is there, but it should be 30 eur at most.
@Grumblevolcano
Guardians of the Galaxy's UK retail launch sales were far below that of Avengers. In addition, Guardians of the Galaxy's peak concurrent player count on Steam is ~1/3rd that of Avengers, which indicates weak PC sales.
Unless console digital sales for GotG are abnormally high for a single-player game, things aren't looking good.
@Sigmar25 neither do i mate. Makes me sh*t myself but Dread isnt that bad. First couple of times maybe but then you get used to it.
@westman98 well GotG franchise is not as massive as Avengers
@Duncanballs i wold have be one of the buyers as i needed 2 more cons but i i will just settle for 3 player with 2 cons and my pro for now.
@Kidfunkadelic83 That's our setup as well for the moment. Thinking of new Switch hardware sales, I think the joycon pack would have a good attach rate.
@dimi
That's true.
The hope was that GotG getting much stronger reviews than Avengers would lead to increased WoM and thus higher sales, but from the looks of it, GotG will sell well below that of Avengers, which itself was a big commercial disappointment.
Not a good look for Square Enix's future with Marvel games.
@Duncanballs it would have made me get the bundle for sure.
@dojmin I see enough quality in Dread to be worth way more than just 30.
I went ahead and downloaded Mario Party Superstars even though I usually buy physical, and I’m so glad I did. It’s fantastic and will be great to have ready to play when I have people over.
@westman98 if its a solid game, it will get legs
I would have gotten Metroid, but I have the one on 3ds that I need to finish or at least play a bit more.
Guardians of the Galaxy's UK retail launch sales were actually below that of Metroid Dread when you consider that GotG was a Tuesday release while Metroid was a Friday release.
A Guardians of the Galaxy game should in no way be selling less than a Metroid game at retail, yet here we are...
@westman98 but you have no idea of digital sales so who knows how much it sold. Most of the sales were on PlayStation, and since 71% of sales on that platform are digital, the numbers could be much higher.
Anyway it's a great game and I'm loving it. I'm sure it's selling well enough for a sequel.
Not the least bit surprised Dread dropped out of the top sales fast. Seems to be one of those things where the initial sales fanbase was pretty much THE sales they got.
Honestly after playing the game, my conclusion is that it definitely isn't for everyone, and it's a very niche product.
@Serialsid
There are a lot of nuances to digital sales:
> Online multiplayer GaaS games have a much higher digital ratio than offline single-player non-GaaS games.
> Family-oriented content (such as Marvel) have a lower digital ratio than non-family-oriented content.
> Games that get heavy digital discounts have a much higher digital ratio than those who don't.
> Games with digital-only special/deluxe/ultimate editions will have a higher digital ratio than games who don't.
> Sony tracks the sales of digital-only games in their financial reports.
I would not expect Gaurdians of the Galaxy to have a 71% digital ratio - maybe not even a 50% digital ratio given how bad it's PC sales have been.
@Sigmar25 I understand that, but I wouldn’t say it’s constant by any means. There are a few challenging moments with the EMMIs, however I think the bosses are much more challenging. If you like fighting difficult bosses, I wouldn’t worry too much about the EMMIs. I do see your point and sometimes it can be too stressful, if gaming is what you do to destress.
@westman98 I would bet it's higher than 50%, but until they release the figures we just won't know. 🤷 It's had very good reviews across the board and high user scores. I'm sure it will have legs and be a good seller for them.
I hope so anyway as I beat it last night and had a great time.
