I chose from the perspective of how I would choose as a child. I would have picked the Japanese one, simply because they are more instantly recognisable, using the classic style of the cartoon. Its bold and pops out.
The American art is obviously cooler, but as a kid I think it would probably scare me, and I would think ''why are they all Raphael'' .. I know its a comic thing, but it would have confused me back then.
f zero x is the best in my opinion. it put the original game into a 3d space and nailed it. I loved the comic book presentation and music too- totally f zero.
GX is a great game but I disliked the music and menu presentation. I love electronic music but the music in that game lacked character- totally forgettable. the handling of the vehicles was a little off to me too, a bit like how sonic controls in sonic adventure, barely feels like you are in control, just hurtling along.
@JONOFTHEJONS I guess because they then compare frame rates, resolution etc across platforms (of Multiplatform games) causing people to argue tit for tat ''mine is better than yours''
the announcement was a fail to me, they gave the impression it was going to be goldeneye 007, only for it to be gex, epic fail and bitter disappointment.
I changed my switch to 720p to play sonic frontiers as people said it gave the best image. I forgot to switch it back to 1080 when playing TOTK. just made the switch back to 1080 and the difference is night and day. 720 TOTK looks terrible, I thought it was just pushing the switch, geez, I wasted so much time with blur-o-vision
@WhiteUmbrella powerslave was the last release I purchased from them too. Haven’t received it yet. They have put out a lot of quality titles, but more recently I see nothing noteworthy.
Limited run used to have some really exciting and even essential releases, like house in Fata Morgana and Turok etc.. now it seems all they release is shovelware
I really hated NSMB style, so uninspiring, so corporate and cookie-cutter looking. Just merely sufficient.
Mario bros wonder is different, you can see they put a lot of effort to bring the charm back to the games, the little animation details, the quality of the rendering, it gives the game that 'magic' feel that was in super Mario world and all the other great Mario games.
BOTW was a walk in the park. It was made by a Nintendo that was still trying to woo casual gamers, making inoffensive games that anyone and their grandma could pick up and play.
TOTK is not one of those games, if you are not a gamer, it will kick your ass.
@Kang81 I have played a lot of games, I have fallen in and out of loves with gaming, lost interest, came back etc TOTK is the sort of game that makes me want to play games. Its not perfect but when compared to my other favs such as Mario 64, ocarina of time, goldeneye, Xenoblade Chronicles etc it offers so much more. Of course your memories associated with certain games can inform how fondly you feel about them, but this game, even as a brand new game is obviously monumental.
this game creates a more realistic hyrule, I mean, what is a dungeon? in ocarina of time they were quite abstract places.. In TOTK they gave us spoiler Caves and the underworld areas. There are temples, which in true Zelda style are very abstract environments. There are (as you said) bosses. Also the sky islands and of course, shrines. Over all, combining all these elements you do get the 'dungeon' experience from a classic Zelda game. BOTW didn't have these elements at all, outside of those Devine beasts and shrines.
BOTW was barren and empty feeling. it didn't feel like a lived in place, it just felt like there were technical limitations preventing Nintendo from making it feel more alive.
TOTK doesn't have that problem, its a more believable and engrossing world as a result. If you want to find serenity and peace in TOTK- you can find it. you can go off the beaten track and disappear into nature.
I really can't believe people are holding this view that there is too much going on, especially as the emptiness was one of the most frequent complaints in BOTW. People also saying there is too much to do in TOTK... !? Seriously? The game ticks every box when improving upon BOTW and still people will creative negatives.
TOTK is the best game I have ever played, its incredible!
Im betting the next game WILL be set in this hyrule, only it will be flooded, like wind waker.
They clearly are going to use this map again- why invest so much time into creating such a gigantic and detailed environment only to ditch it- they will just change the time the game is set in and reimagine the content of the map suitably. there will be oceans next time, im sure
I encountered a wall in a cave that was too wet to climb, so I must have spent almost an hour trying to build a slope up this wet wall using trees and other things. Did I mention, on water? I knew there was probably an easier way to get up the wall, but it was fun to be creative and try to do it my own way. The physics are crazy.
BOTW just didn’t have that element to its gameplay.
I'm not very far into the game but its an obvious ten. it has so much to offer from the giant world to explore to the building mechanics, geez its just unbelievable how much content there is at such a high quality.
I think a lot of how well you receive a game is how you feel in the time you play it. Honestly, it was a pretty effed up time for me while playing BOTW, it really helped me, but I was also quite numb to the whole experience. I soldiered through it, but still could see it was a quality game.
Its only when I revisited it just before the launch of this new Zelda title that I appreciate it more.. it really is a sprawling game with 'magic' at every turn. seeing it with fresh eyes at a better point in life really makes a difference.
Im at 80hours playtime for BOTW, and although i have 'completed' it, I did practically no side quests, just a lot of exploring. I still discover new things each time I play and feel like there is much more to see. but I saved Zelda and am happy to move on to the next Zelda game
If Nintendo delivered the damn thing on time I would be able to let you know. seriously, is there any benefit from ordering direct from Nintendo's store? Seriously poor service. you would think ordering from the publisher themselves would secure you a copy on release date. but no.
don't get me started on the way they manage orders too- if you want to cancel, you can't do it direct from the order page, no, that would be too easy, instead you have to email customer services like its the 1960's
just looking at the tweet counts as a view, doesn't mean 9 million people watched the film in its entirety across two tweets. People who haven't already seen the movie, like me, would probably see the tweet but choose not to watch it because they want to see the film with the best video and sound quality. and of course support the creators
@PinderSchloss considering they had a teaser trailer not long after botw released, they probably finished this game a very long time ago and just sat on it
@Nico85 if you have GTA V set in San Andreas in 2014, then have GTA VI set in... san anreas 1990, yes, the game will look a bit different and have different political themes, music etc but it will be so similar it would just be pointless. you NEED a new town to explore. otherwise its glorified DLC.
for me the biggest problem is the crafting. I do not care about crafting. I don't play a Zelda game for crafting. its like with every instalment they move further and further away from what Zelda is, and instead add more and more gimmicks. I just want to explore 'dungeons' in a vast world. I don't want to build a water raft.
the second negative as others have pointed out, is, its the same damn world. I always wondered how they would make the world map in a sequel set immediately after the events of BOTW interesting enough to want to explore again. the answer is- they haven't.
they just added a few islands floating in the sky and called it a day.
majoras mask showed us how to create a sequel set in a similar time frame to another Zelda game (OOT) but make it completely unique. it seems they just took the easy option with this game, which I think will result in a game that will still be critically acclaimed, but will seem a massive missed opportunity by fans who wanted a genuinely new Zelda world to explore.
I HATE that nintendo thinks with each instalment in recent star fox entries there needs to be some gimmick in order to make the game appeal - for instance the totally ridiculous control scheme of ZERO. or giving the game to third party devs to ruin.
I enjoyed star fox adventures because it at least tried to expand and explore the universe of star fox, rather than present gimmicks. it was a great game in its own right.
To me, starfox (snes) and starfox 64 are the only worthwhile games in the franchise, and the original game is one of my most treasured gaming experiences.
you had to be there at the time of release to appreciate this game fully, it was truly monumental, it oozed quality in every aspect. The fact it was bond didn't matter either- even if you had no interest in James Bond, it was THE game.
It set the standard and gave a template for other games to build on, but after Halo it was the end of this 007's reign at the top.
Im not sure how somebody playing it for the first time today would feel about the game since the context is lost, especially the experience of playing something that was truly innovative and cutting edge
