Re: Review: A Space For The Unbound - A Beautifully Rendered, Breathtaking Adventure Game

you can pre order a copy on Amazon Japan. On twitter the publisher said early distributed copies will come with a soundtrack cd, amazon Japan does mention this when using google translate.

My question is, amazon have two versions available, one standard, and another amazon exclusive, that seems to come with pc and smartphone wallpapers, anyone know if both of these versions come with the CD?

I think reviewers should be harsher on games that are technically poor to the point it ruins the functionality of a game.

How can the game score a 8 when you say it runs poorly in places.

that's like rating a car highly, even when the engine shows faults constantly or drives like trash.

we wonder why we have a patch-at-launch industry when reviews like this are basically endorsing broken games. there should be laws which prevent companies selling broken or half finished products. No other industry would allow this standard!

There are lots of good ideas in this game. I'd say strip out the RPG elements though- no levelling up, no skill trees.

Ive played 5 hours and im still not sure what type of game this is or the direction it's heading... maybe make the objective more clear, and without flashing the objectives on the screen constantly.

make it more sonicy... so far it feels literally like hyrule with some sonic themed mini-games scattered around

Re: Video: Digital Foundry's Technical Analysis Of Sonic Frontiers On Switch

The game is not cutting edge by any measure, even on ps5 or x1 it looks average. Since we have xenoblade 3 with its sprawling landscapes filled with detail, I think it’s fair to say frontiers could look equal to the ps5 version- yes! Equal!

But the problem is sega and the poor effort in optimising the game for switch. This was predicted though, heck, they didn’t even do a good job with sonic colours on switch, a damn wii game from a decade ago- frontiers didn’t stand a chance.

And they have the bare faced cheek, the audacity to suggest a retail price of £60 for switch

Re: Poll: What Review Score Would You Give Sonic Frontiers?

I have only played an hour or so but I wish they made it more... Sonicy. When I look back on sonic adventure, the game was bursting with light and joy, it was so alive. This game is so subdued, moody even. who wants a depressed sonic?

Maybe later stages are more what we are accustomed to in a sonic world, but I would like sonic to bring that light. There are so many glum and gloomy games already. Maybe they wanted it to appeal to a more mature audience

Re: Pokémon Scarlet And Violet Are Getting A Day One Update

I changed my mind on the game based on performance, game looks bad. There was a part where the clipping was preventing you jump a 3 ft fence while riding that Pokémon, when the Pokémon can jump at least 8 ft. It’s little details like that which make the game poor

Re: Review: Sonic Frontiers - A Bold But Ultimately Failed Attempt At Something New

I had another look at the ps5 and 1X gameplay and honestly, the game looks muddy on those consoles too. The switch game was always going to look poor when the flagship consoles don't look that much better.

on the subject of sonic adventure 1 v 2, I agree 2 was a step down from the first. It was stripped back and more 'on rails' than the first. 1 was actually a very good/ambitious attempt at a 3D sonic.

Re: Poll: What Review Score Would You Give Sonic Frontiers?

Sonic in 3D is a concept that hasn’t successfully been achieved in my opinion. How can you recreate an authentic sonic experience in 3D? Creating a 3D environment for you to explore, then putting speed rails everywhere to give you the loop the loop is not convincing.

Maybe sonic just needs to be a 2D game. Or at least 2.5D.

Maybe the real problem is sega. I would love Nintendo making a sonic game

Re: Review: Sonic Frontiers - A Bold But Ultimately Failed Attempt At Something New

I predicted the game would be terrible but bought the game anyway because it had a great review on another site I respect reviews from. I have played an hour or so and the gameplay is quite fun, the graphics are really awful though, I spent a lot of my time playing with the tv brightness/contrast/sharpness trying to improve the image but it’s just so bad.

Re: We've Played Sonic Frontiers, But What Did We Think Of It?

piecez

I hate the way 3d sonic moves. In Mario 64, you had complete control of Mario, you could tilt the control stick very slightly and Mario would tip-toe, you run then pull in the opposite direction, and Mario does a skidding turn etc, complete control.

Sonic in 3d is jarring- try to make him walk or jog and the floor beneath his feet moves twice as fast as his legs are moving, he steers like a 18 wheeler lorry when running at full speed etc its tragic that they find this acceptable from sonic adventure to colours its the same experience.

From what I have seen of this new game, it doesn't look much better. they think putting speed rails everywhere solves the problem of a fluid moving sonic in an open space- I'm not convinced.
