Re: Trigger Witch Opens Fire On Switch Very Soon

Sorry, but I wrote a reply then comments were deactivated, but I still want to say...

Are the characters in Boyz in the Hood stereotypes? I don't think so. It might not be a positive representation, but it is a reality that many black people face.

If we have black people in games but strip them of all their culture and all political voice, then are they really black? or merely white people in black skins?

I would love to see a game that deals with sensitive and complex issues such as racism and injustice. in fact a game would be the perfect medium to put the player in the shoes of somebody who is discriminated against.

There have been lots of indie games recently that show these alternative subject matters can work as a game/experience. Having some tanned villagers in the background of a Mario or Zelda game is not progress.

Re: Poll: So, Will You Be Getting A Switch OLED Or Valve Steam Deck?

piecez

If you already own a switch, splashing out £300+ just for a small screen update is extravagant. If you have the switch already and want to splash cash, why not try the deck? Then you will have the best of both worlds.

It really puts into perspective just how outrageously overpriced, and under spec’d the switch now is.

Re: Round Up: Here Are The First "Hands-On" Impressions Of The Nintendo Switch OLED

piecez

the switch light had obvious advantages- a cheaper price point for potential customers who didn't mind losing out on TV play.

I can't think of any reason to buy an OLED, other that replacing a broken switch, or for first time buyers. and people who just love wasting money.

as soon as you dock the OLED, all the 'benefits' are lost. for a little more cash you could buy the PS5 digital console

Re: Nintendo Underlines Its Commitment To Diversity And Inclusivity

@NoTimeForBS I manage a bar. I open vacancies for a bar job. I secretly only want to employ a woman, but must be a woman with big boobs, because I think they will be popular with customers.

This is an extremely sexist and discriminative employment strategy. It might make 'sense' from a business perspective, but it is still a discriminative practice, because many other people will be excluded from the chance to get the job. see

Re: Nintendo Underlines Its Commitment To Diversity And Inclusivity

@NoTimeForBS not really. If you have a racial, gender, or sexuality bias, you are employing discriminatively.

That is not offering the same opportunity to all people who have the required skills. So, in fact, they could actually be creating inferior products because they are excluding people based on their own prejudices. see

Re: Scalpers Set Their Sights On The Shin Megami Tensei V Premium Edition

piecez

@Westy90 Nintendo are terrible at promoting pre orders. They always go live with no fanfare.

I really like the model of pre orders for limited editions used by limited run, where the pre order is open for (say) a month, then everyone who wants one, can realistically get one.

Having editions go live, unannounced to be snapped up in 30 mins by scalpers is just BS.

And in regards to scalpers, I would say don't hate the player, hate the game. This is capitalism. Saying scalping should be illegal is silly. They just need to create a system where everyone who wants to purchase, at least has a good chance.

Re: Talking Point: Why Metroid Dread Will Be Worth $60

piecez

£59.99 is too much for the bare bones release. Should be £45-49 tops.

£59 is special edition price.

I feel sorry for people who download who get nothing to show for that price. At least you get a cart and a case after forking out a whopping £60

Re: Sonic Colors: Ultimate Will Be A Friendly Game For Beginners

Invincibility mode used to be a reward for those who put on the time and effort to beat the game. There was a sense of achievement.

Of course everyone does when they first start gaming, it’s the death that makes you hone your skills, be more careful and strategic. Are today’s children so impatient that they can’t even be bothered to play the game properly and actually earn something through strong will and determination?

Re: Rumour: Nintendo Switch Pro "Will Have Exclusives", Says Insider

piecez

I dont mind games with exclusive Pro features, such as higher frame rate and 4K res (obviously,) but exclusive titles would be a slap in the face, especially major 1st party titles.

If you are going to have full blown exclusives, just call it what it is- a next gen console, instead of dancing around the bush.
