nobody is expecting Horizon Forbidden West graphics, they just want a world that feels alive, a world that has the power to immerse you. You don't need high end tech to create that - Breath of the wild achieved it.

But the world on show in arceus looks like a hole. no atmosphere. as others have pointed out, there isn't even any diversity in plant life, let alone anything else. its a world devoid of life. it looks cold and empty, and not because of artistic choice.

how can such a world immerse you, or be enjoyable to explore? this is the problem. Xenoblade chronicles had a wondrous environment. that was on wii.

I like the video, its a cool effect. but the environment looks completely empty. there is no illusion that this is a living, breathing place, it just looks like a unfinished tech demo of a game from the dreamcast era

Its just an excuse to post a load of links which the site will profit from if you choose to buy a game through the link.

fine if the content is good, but this is not- just tacky when its so blatant.

@Meteoroid I predict 6/10, maybe less. time will tell. I won't cry, I simply won't buy the game. if it turns out to be great, I will buy. quite simple.

@Meteoroid have I played the game? no. But that hardly counts for anything since nobody else, other than Christina Aguilera, has. that alone should tell you that game freak hasn't pulled it off. I mean, if they pulled it off, they would be inviting games journo's from far and wide to play their amazing game, and the journos would spread the word. instead, Aguilera gets exclusive hands on.

in the end I will be the one coming back to say 'I told you so' when the game gets its inevitable low scores.

@Meteoroid Instead of making a game which has ambitions beyond the technology, or devs capability, maybe they shouldn't make these types of games.

Breath of the wild was an exception since it had the gameplay and experience to compensate what was 'missing.' I really don't think Arceus will be as successful. For a start, there are rumours suggesting the game isn't fully open world at all, which makes the fact it is so empty even more of a negative. no excuse!

Its a bit cheap when devs have a sparsely populated game with little going on, then set that game in a distant past or formative time to justify it.

Nintendo are so proud of this game they are letting nobody (except Christina Aguilera) play it before it releases. its such a good game, no game journo's will be allowed to touch it before release- just to make sure nobody knows just how good it is.

The fact that there is no real time gameplay footage of this game, and that nobody (other than Christina Aguilera) has played it, is all the confirmation you should need that this game is terrible.

I cancelled my pre order because no dev or publisher so close to launch would keep their game out of journo's hands if they were proud of what they made and want people to know it.

I predict 4/10.

It looks like a very early tech demo that they thought, fxck it, just release it as a game. it has potential but what I have seen looks completely lifeless and void of any atmosphere or fun.

Does anyone know any of the real life locations that were used to create the background images for this game?

Some of the locations from the main game do look like photos put through a photoshop filter, some of the locations look quite familiar, others look intriguing, but there doesn't seem to be any info about the locations used

I dont know how the music could be a negative. its one of the best soundtracks I have ever heard in a game. if not THE best.

trying to put a negative on the 'grim' mood of the game doesn't wash either- I mean, you have to be in the mood for games like Mario galaxy or any other game. the question really is, are you ready to play a game or not.

Fata Morgana is the first (and only) visual novel I played. Honestly its sublime, I dont know how any game could possibly follow in its shadow. so im choosing Literature Club as I've heard great things about that one.

I think I found my new fav genre, honestly perfect since you can pick up and put down easily. There are so so many titles I have on my list to buy, doesn't really help that they are mostly imports.

I would love if VN became more popular in the west, as they seem to be, then we can get more titles translated, and hopefully save some money ha

I dont see what is shady about LRG. you either buy it or you dont. there are no hidden costs or surprises, so what exactly is shady?

you can't complain about the wait either, since the game is literally being manufactured because you ordered it to be.

Some games may be released in 'general' stores later down the line, but that is not a given. its a gamble, but for sure, some of their releases will NEVER be released store wide. and plus at least you will get different art, and bonuses, if you order the collectors editions.

Its rockstars arrogance to say this franchise can last another 70 years. it won't last another 70 days without the respect of consumers

if anything, this gat trilogy release puts into perspective just how good a job Nintendo did with porting their games- they are all solid ports of the originals (with small upgrades) while maintaining what made the originals so special.

call me old fashion but I think somebody would prefer a physical game for Christmas, rather than a download as a gift.

Nintendo would be crazy to have a physical release with only a code or partial product in the box.

Some people are speculating that the switch version is being distributed by Nintendo themselves, which could indicate they are producing a cart big enough to hold all the games on one cart. hopefully.

every time I go to the supermarket, when I get to the checkout I call the manager to complain why every member of staff on shift for the last month is not credited on my till receipt for the work they have done in allowing me to successfully buy my shopping.

@kobashi100 if there was no rules for crediting and the dev was crediting people at their own discretion, that would be a different matter. but, there was a clear policy for gaining credit, which the individual did not meet. case closed

I suppose they got paid for their 11months of work for the game, that’s their credit. If the dev says you need to work 12 months to be in the final credits, then that is the rules.

People saying they will boycott a game just because somebody didn’t meet the requirements for credit that were clearly laid out, need to get a grip.

I always think the loose steelbook is redundant. Why not put the game… in the steelbook ?

I don’t like the “big box” format Nintendo uses for these collector editions, not easy to display or store. I don’t know if I’ve just had bad luck, but ordering from Nintendo I always seem to get a beaten up delivery box and a product inside that already has shelf wear

Physical copies would be equally good, or even better, so if that means limited run, then great.

I also agree the way Nintendo handles its online service is poor. I mean, why can I not keep and carry my downloads/purchases from the wii virtual console, over to the switch?

The Nintendo way of doing things is so fragmented and illogical, from a customer/consumer point of view.

@lovesushi the game is good, has some really impressive levels and memorable music.

It’s not all good though, but a lot better than most, if not all 3D sonic games (apart from sonic adventure in my opinion.)

But considering the glitches, I would wait until it’s fixed, or play it on the wii. Nobody wants an an experience ruined by glitches.

In my view it’s a 7/10 game (on wii), but with glitches it’s not worth it.

People always expect better from a sonic game, but releases like this are a reminder that sonic and quality are not really synonymous.

The article now confirms official switch version glitches. Fans need to stop the damage control, this is precisely why they put out substandard products- they know damn well many will simply accept it as part of the package!

Sonic deserves better! Especially since this game is a port from a wii game that was never broken in the first place.

You simply can't release a game with known bugs and expect people to do the play testing, then patch in fixes. I dont approve of this practice and I won't be a part of it.

It's Nintendo's property, they can do what they please.

If anything, it should teach fans like this to be original and create their own characters, worlds and games. they could have actually had an impressive game to market, instead they have something completely worthless.
