With Yoshi's Woolly World just two weeks from release in Europe and all set for a Fall arrival in North America, we're seeing more videos and hype building for the soft-natured platformer. It's big on cuteness, and the latest video from Nintendo UK is no different.
Rather like a recent Japanese video showcase this rattles through key features, but with different footage and in a language that anyone reading these words can understand. This video also contains some pleasing confirmation that the Splatoon Inkling Girl amiibo is supported with a Yoshi design; we suspect the other two amiibo for the shooter will be supported too.
Check it out below and let us know what you think.

Looks like my Megaman amiibo is going to be seeing some more action soon.
They each have a little special effect? O: Ohh snaps.
And that Yoshi flutter sound @ 1:45 ^_^
Looks like what yoshi island 3ds should've been
I need this game and the yoshi amiibo ;-;
Wow, they REALLY got the music pumping for this yoshi adventure!
I feel bad that im buying a wii u just for this game, BUT IT'S SO DARN ADORABLE. (>-<)
Only 2 weeks left omgomgomg!
@KickButt_Gaming You should already have a Wii U.
@abbyhitter #brokepeopleproblems lol
This game looks excellent!
I dunno about them still advertising for those Woolly World and Splatoon amiiboo ... they are basically only generating disappointment at this point, since neither of those amiiboo is available anymore - not for weeks now.
Also, why drive demand for something that has long since sold out? There gotta be better ways to use their airtime Oo
Glad my inkling Amiibos will have another use, since I can't seem to get any other ones for my games...
As for this game, I hope NA has that bundle including the yarn Yoshi Amiibo because I'm not putting up with Amiibo hunting anymore. Oh and hopefully said bundle will be actually AVAILABLE.
You can use every amiibo with this game. Check the NoE website. It's there for a few days already.
"Mellow mode" See @JaxonH and @Sinalefa Nintendo cares. I already told my kid you guys would be calling it "rjejr mode".
Really wanted to like Kirby after enjoying Captain Toad, but playing only looking at the screen just wasn't any fun, I have a tablet for that. This looks like it could be really good though. And they even put in a 3D world overmap, I'm a sucker for an overworld map. I hope there are some secret places to find.
That last part of the trailer actually got me pumped for the game. There is one thing I would like to know. We know about Classic mode vs Mellow mode, but what about with 2-players? Can each player set their mode individually? If so, then that would be perfect.
@ShadJV A bundle for this would be perfect. Makes great sense. So there's no chance of us getting it.
I am so psyched for this game. Cannot wait for it to come out.
Off topic, but has anyone checked out the Coming Soon site for YouTube Gaming? There is a couple of Nintendo references in the logo when you click on various parts, along with other non Nintendo games.
@rjejr
Honest question- what difference does it make what screen you look at as long as the game itself is fun? You may have an iPad but it doesn't play Nintendo's latest Kirby game!
@rjejr Yeah I'm really happy they put in a 3D overworld! Gives the game more "body".
I am so tempted to open all my unopened amiibo just for those costumes xD
Ok, Day 1 whenever that is. Which brings me to
@rjejr
If Nintendo cared about you they would have released the NA date by now.
Maybe this will push you to get the Inkling Girl amiibo. And although I can stand hard games I do appreciate when they add the rjejr mode. As you have mentioned, if you buy a DVD you get to watch the whole movie or listen to the whole album. With games it should be the same.
Wish the US was getting this game as soon as the UK is! It looks so amazing!
I really really really want to like this game. I do. Is just that uhm........YARN?! WHY FREAKING YARN?!!? It's so fruity and and tacky and goddarn corny and....sighs
@pherret022 As much as I want this game too being in NA, I have a hard time complaining since Europe gets screwed on release dates so often.
Nice, perhaps the Splatoon amiibo will get support for some other titles as well. For example, Mario Kart or even Smash.
I am worried about the difficulty of this game. Will it be like yoshi´s island (or ds) or like kirby´s epic yarn??
This game looks just perfect. My only minor disappointment is that someone confirmed Pikachu amiibo doesn't have a skin
I love the original Yoshi's Island, but all the other Yoshi games I've played have been too easy and haven't tried enough new things. The visual style here looks amazing, it looked like there were some cool gameplay ideas, but I won't buy it if it doesn't give me a challenge.
Looks absolutely amazing!!
This game is going to be amazing! OH! I SEE 20 HIDDEN GEMS (Red Coins) IS RETURNING!
I'm suddenly hyped for this game!
@lateral_centro
I'd say it will be between Yoshi's Island and Yoshi's Story.
What I have seen so far it is definitively harder than Epic Yarn.
Alone that you can die in this game makes it harder. lol
@MasterWario
Hidden Gems? Where do you see that?
The use of amiibo is a nice add-on. Still not a compelling enough reason for them though.
black and purple yoshi is my new favorite thing!
@rjejr I also think that the 3rd overworld is great.
Its cool Europe's getting this very soon, even before Japan (i think). Hopefully every amiibo can be used with this game - it seems like one of those games that can. I do hope its much better than Yoshi's new Island. This is a game to own on Wii U.
This game looks so cute, but I'm not understanding the appeal of it. I think this is something I'd need to play a demo of before deciding whether it's any good.
@WaveBoy
No, I don't think so. I've watched quite a bit of gameplay in this game is leagues above Epic Yarn in terms of danger, enemies, pitfalls, and challenge in general. The only thing this game has in common with epic yarn is the aesthetic, and even then only up to a certain point.
I'm a fan of challenging platformers like DKC Returns/Tropical Freeze, Rayman Origins/Legends, even moderately challenging platformers like the New Super Mario Bros series. I'm a fairly good judge of challenge, and while I could of course be wrong, in my estimation this game is at least as challenging as your standard Mario platformer, with the exploration and hidden collectibles of a DKC/Yoshi's Island game.
If the game wasn't hard there'd be no need for the rewind feature, power badges or mellow mode. Their existence alone validates the game's challenge.
I wish this would release globally at same time
so its Yoshi Story/Yoshi Island, i'm sold. when the freak is this game going to get a release date for US???
Wow, not much of a Yoshi's series fan, but this does look great.
Probably still a bit too easy for me, I'm more of a DKC and Mario fan, but it looks really beautiful.
That looks amazing. I'll get the game hopefully bundled with Yarn Yoshi. I refuse to buy Amiibo, but this is too cute.
Loool @ punchline
Can't wait! But when does North America get it?! I really don't want to have to try to avoid spoilers and such until fall while listening to all my friends across the pond talk about how awesome the game is while I'm stuck waiting months to get to play it.
@Ralek85 I guess you haven't checked ShopTo for Splatoon amiibo.
@Iggly It was said that Splatoon amiibo owners will get a free Splatoon Inkling Boy or Girl costume in Smash, I think.
@Lizuka Thanks but I'm in Europe, and right now my primary focus is on Lucina and Robin anyways ^^
@Zerodactyl No I hadn't, but looking as they ask 20GBP, which comes to about 28€ + shipping, I might as well simply pay amazon.de marketplace prices, which are roughly 30€ for those Splatoon and FE amiiboo as well. The thing is, I still have a standing preorder for Lucina and Robin, together for less than the price of one of those over at shopto :-/
I'm considering ordering the Woolly World Yoshi though, since that one seems to be out of stock even in scalper'town around here.
I might get the Splatoon ones, if they are ever restocked at normal retail prices, but I'm not that eager to get them to put down 30€ for one of them.
FE though .... that are the ones I really want badly, but I still have some hope for my preorder :-/ Sigh
Poochy is back! Awwwww yeah!
@JaxonH - Honest question- what difference does it make what screen you look at as long as the game itself is fun?
Honest answer - b/c my eyes are bad (read - old) and I can hardly see that tiny screen. I tried playing Splatoon multiplayer w/ my son and I lost all but 1 out of about a dozen matches w/ him as I couldn't find my reticle to aim at anything. And I really think the low resolution has something to do w/ it, everything looks so blurry, especially when it's moving.
Keep this in mind for when you turn 50 and have to where progressive lenses. There's a reason I have a 52" tv.
@AyeHaley - "Yeah I'm really happy they put in a 3D overworld! Gives the game more "body"."
Thanks, makes me feel like I'm not compelelty insane when somebody else notices. It actually bothered me in Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker that there wasn't 1. I do like the book to keep track of stuff, the Spyro the Dragon games way back when on the PS1 played out in hub worlds but books kept track of all the data, it was nice.
@sinalefa - "As you have mentioned, if you buy a DVD you get to watch the whole movie or listen to the whole album. With games it should be the same."
Thank you. Thank you very much. And I will of course try to play w/o it. And I'm expecting to be able to make it thru as there doesn't appear to be any "minekart/Rhambi" like levels to annoy me, if I can approach a level at my own speed I can usually find a way. I'm not good w/ QTE or rhythm stuff. It's 1 reason why I like open world games over 2D, running and exploring. 2D games usually have a lot of timing tapping.
I did finally beat the boss in Splatoon. Took about a dozen tries, and maxing out my firing rate, but it was worth it. Still wish there was "Save/Restart" option after the cut scene though. But I did it.
It looks like they have adapted and took a bunch of great ideas from games like Rayman Origins and Legends (that material that he can shoot through and then climb on, and the propeller plane morph stage looks eerily similar to the mosquito stages of Rayman Origins), and DKC Tropical Freeze (those windmills that he was solidifying with yarn looks similar to those in world 2 of DKC TF, and that animal he's riding reminds me of Rambi stages). Also the swimming and twirling underwater is a cross between Rayman and DKC. The platforming looks to have inspiration from New Super Mario Bros U, and of course the game's aesthetic seems inspired by Kirby's Epic Yarn
That's a lot of fantastic inspiration to make one heck of a good game here.
Issat...issat a Mega Yoshi I saw there at the end? Awesome!
This is so cute! I just hope that the special edition makes across the Atlantic, or getting the yarn amiibos is going to be a real pain. I must get them!
@BlueBlurIxM By that I meant that some of the gems have like, stamp coins hidden behind them, and there are 20 in each stage. If you watch closely they pop out after you collect the gem.
