Re: Talking Point: Nintendo Switch Turns 3: Challenges Await, But What A Ride So Far

nmanifold

Hopefully Nintendo is trying to get Mario Odyssey 2 ready for a holiday release so they're holding off on a direct! Because I have zero interest in Animal Crossing or some Japanese RPG remakes, so there's literally nothing else to look forward to. I'd also love a surprise like Mario Kart 9, a new F-Zero, a new Donkey Kong, new Mario 2D, new Wave Race, etc... enough with the RPGs already.

@MS7000 Japan hasn't really been infected by COVD-19, so don't think that's the reason. Chinese production has been severely hit but that doesn't effect actual game development (only physical Switch Units). It may effect Switch Cart production but Chinese factories are now coming back to work (I deal with them in my job) so I doubt it really would have. And we're talking about future game cart production here, not current.

Re: Review: WRC 8 FIA World Rally Championship - A Decent Racer That Struggles In Switch's Portable Mode

nmanifold

I've had this game a week and sank hours into in portable mode (I find the graphics fine). It took me a long to get used to the sensitive controls as it is more of a sim than a DIRT game would be. I'm really liking it so far, it's far better than V-Rally 4. I do agree the UI in the menus is terrible and way too small for portable play, and some of the manager aspects are convoluted. But the driving itself is 'don't blink or you'll crash' kind of exciting. I play on easy mode for unlimited re-starts, it's a must. But i'd still kill for a Dirt game on Switch.

Re: Shinobi Expected To Be The Next Sega Ages Game Released In Japan

nmanifold

Sega have said the sales of the Sega Ages line has dissapointed, and that's no surprise. With the Sega Genesis Classics Collection available why are they wasting time and resources releasing games like Shinobi? The game releases so far(excluding the amazing Virtua Racing) have all been available on other platforms(and switch) for years, so they're not going to sell as well as games like Jet Set Radio, Scud Race, etc, would. Up your game Sega and M2 or this will be a terrible wasted opportunity.

Re: Asphalt 9: Legends Is Now Available On Nintendo Switch For Free

@ThanosReXXX Cheers for the advice, I'll try this. It's all a bit over-whelming starting off, I'm learning as I go. I assume you have 2 Cars in category B? the problem was in the paid starter pack they only give you 1 category B car, that's why I was caught unawareness. Can i ask what was your quickest way of getting your 2nd car? Gonna get back into it later, strangely I'm enjoying the level-up systems, coins, etc...

I bought the €20 starter pack and got stuck in. Loving the racing, it's great fun, but I hit the 'refuel' button not knowing what it was and my car was disabled for over an hour. I didn't have any other B cars to race with so I literally could not continue the championship until my B
Car was refueled. Didn't have any option to buy a B car either, bizarre situation for a game I 'paid' for. But I'm still gonna keep playing as its a lot of fun.

Re: Review: Asphalt 9: Legends - Likeable Burnout-Style Racing Action, If You Play The Right Way

nmanifold

I've played this on Android and the racing is really good. It's a shame the developers didn't convert it into a 'proper' console game which cost €40 and included none of the micro-transaction rubbish (and had longer races). A missed opportunity as it would have been a brilliant arcade racer. I'll still play this and buy the starter pack as I love these type of games. Yes Grid is great but it's more a realistic than an Arcade racer.

Re: Review: Button Button Up! - A Perfectly Fine Platformer, And That's It

The Visual style is awful. Getting bored of these lazy 'pixel art' games, being a designer myself I know the effort needed to make a game look good as opposed to this type of simplistic pixel art look. It's not a design choice most of the time, it's an easier and cheaper way to make a game, and 95% of the time it looks bad (Games like Celeste did it right). They pale in comparison compared to SNES pixel art games. On a side note, I discovered the beautiful 'Unruly Heroes' this week and I love it, its like the spiritual successor to Rayman Legends. Now that's good platformer artstyle.
