Re: Nintendo Adds Trio Of Games To Switch Online NES Library Next Week

nmanifold

@GameOtaku Exactly, the reason Nintendo ditched the Virtual Console brand was because there would have been an outcry from Nintendo fans not being able to transfer over their older VC purchases to the Switch. Now they can make more money all over again with their legacy content, Nintendo are the meanest console makers out of the main 3. I love Nintendo but they need some fresh young blood in upper management.

Arcade racers as a genre seems to have all been but abandoned on all platforms in the past few years. The PS3 era had some crackers, but
the PS4 is seriously lacking. Gear Club on the Switch is good, but the Switch needs great racers, other than Mario Kart. Hopefully the rumor about Ridge Racer being developed for the Switch is true.

Re: Thimbleweed Park Sales On Switch Predicted To Exceed Lifetime Steam Sales

@pika677 don’t get me wrong, I love some Indie games (currently re-playing Limbo and Inside), but there’s a lot of indie pixel crap on the switch and not a lot of Nintendo 1st party titles coming this year (zero interest in Pokémon and I’m not a huge Smash fan). Nintendo could make up for the lack of games by releasing a few more WiiU ports and some GameCube remasters. But all we seem to be getting is the same old rehashed NES games with the online service.

Please be a new Super Mario 2D platformer! Or even a port of Super Mario 3D world will suffice. I'm not a massive fan of Smash Bros, never really got into fighting games since Tekken 2. As for Pokemon? That completely goes over my head, collecting and fighting 'pokemon'? No thanks.
As 1st parties go, I still have Zelda to finish, more moons to collect in Mario Odyssey, Donkey Kong to complete and I will buy Mario Tennis.

Re: Reaction: What are Your Thoughts on Nintendo Switch Online?

@ValhallaOutcast My first computer was a Spectrum so I grew up in the 8-bit era. But I’m over it, it’s time for Nintendo to move on, they’ve already sold it too death with past Virtual Console and the Nintendo mini.

I agree the Nintendo 64 hasn’t aged well, it’s far from my favorite Console. But I’d rather play Diddy Kong racing than Balloon Fight for the umpteened time.

Re: Reaction: What are Your Thoughts on Nintendo Switch Online?

NESzzzZZZZZ games.... enough with peddling NES games, they really haven't dated well (except Super Mario Bros. 3).

I'm hoping they'll release remastered Nintendo 64, Gamecube and Wii games through the eshop (Adding online functionality), hence Nintendo saying Virtual Console as we know it is dead.

Re: Nindies Showcase For Nintendo Switch Airing Next Week

I think we need to be patient for AAA 3rd party games. No one could have predicted the Switch's massive success in such a short time, a lot of the big 3rd party developers have taken notice and will eventually release games on it. But these things take time, it's only been a year.

Re: Nindies Showcase For Nintendo Switch Airing Next Week

Maybe more pixelartmetroidvaniazzzzZZZZZ..... Although I do love the high quality games like Shovel Knight, Limbo, Inside, etc... there is too much cheap pixel indie crap around, and not just on Switch. They're lower than SNES games in quality. Blame the high price of developing AAA games nowadays, yet the console power arms race keeps going......

Re: Little Nightmares: Complete Edition Mashes Horror And Puzzles On 18th May

nmanifold

@sword_9mm yep I’m done with all these cheap indie metrovania style pixel junk, there’s some good games but enough is enough. They’re below SNES games in visuals and quality.

A great Virtual Console line up with different systems could fill the gaps and make up for the new game droughts. I know it’s basically more ports but it’s badly needed.

Re: Little Nightmares: Complete Edition Mashes Horror And Puzzles On 18th May

nmanifold

@sword_9mm a massive issue nowadays that a lot of people in this community don’t address is the time involved and cost of modern games. Sony & Microsoft keep pushing for faster better hardware not taking into account this means less AAA games. Most games companies just cannot develop high end titles anymore, and when they do they play it safe. Nintendo are feeling this strain too, even on the under-powered Switch. There needs to be less focus on constantly making better hardware, and more focus on just developing games. There’s too big of a divide between the production values on AAA titles and Indies.

Re: Little Nightmares: Complete Edition Mashes Horror And Puzzles On 18th May

nmanifold

@sword_9mm I agree 100%. I don't buy franchise/rehashed games like COD or A.Creed on my PS4, I buy games like Little Nightmares and Drive Club(I love driving games). It's sad to see Nintendo go down the same road doing remakes and ports... I bought a Wii U but hated that controller so much it put me off playing it as much as I should have. So I welcome these Wii U ports on Switch, but they shouldn't dominate the release schedule, they should compliment big new original games from Nintendo.

Re: Little Nightmares: Complete Edition Mashes Horror And Puzzles On 18th May

nmanifold

@SLIGEACH_EIRE It's not a solution, it's just the way it is, and has been for a long time. Nintendo went down a different path after the Gamecube while the 2 main competitors continued on with releasing more powerful(but similar spec) consoles. Yes in an ideal world it would be great to have one console capable of playing every big game released (Nintendo and the rest) but it's never going to happen again.
Sure I would have loved the Burnout Paradise remaster to come out on Switch, and I'd buy that over the PS4 version, but it seems unlikely now, but I still have the option to buy it.
Yes it's an expensive situation but you just have to make peace with it.

Re: Little Nightmares: Complete Edition Mashes Horror And Puzzles On 18th May

@sword_9mm I’m Irish, but don’t tar us all with same brush! My Playstation pro cost around €400 here in Ireland, owning that and the Switch is the perfect combination. You get the best of both worlds; all the Nintendo exclusives and all the AAA heavy hitters. We just have to accept that the Switch isn’t going to get versions of say, Assassins Creeds or COD WW2. If not having a constant supply of AAA titles on Switch annoys some people so much, then buy a PS4 or XBOX1.

Re: EA Has "Nothing To Announce" As Far As Burnout Paradise On Switch Is Concerned

nmanifold

Switch could easily run this, maybe not in 60fps but who cares, people are obsessed with 60fps nowadays. There is still a big hope Nintendo told EA to hold back the announcement until a new direct. I adore all the Burnout games and would welcome the ability to play Paradise on the go. If it doesn't appear it's sad on EA's part (especially with their "unprecedented partnership" announcement bullsh*t as Sligeach said) but i'll be buying the PS4 version anyway. The Switch has been selling SO well, what other incentive does EA need to bring games over...
