Luigi’s Mansion 3 and A Hat in Time please

The Visual style is awful. Getting bored of these lazy 'pixel art' games, being a designer myself I know the effort needed to make a game look good as opposed to this type of simplistic pixel art look. It's not a design choice most of the time, it's an easier and cheaper way to make a game, and 95% of the time it looks bad (Games like Celeste did it right). They pale in comparison compared to SNES pixel art games. On a side note, I discovered the beautiful 'Unruly Heroes' this week and I love it, its like the spiritual successor to Rayman Legends. Now that's good platformer artstyle.

Actually could be good, will keep an eye out.

Have a grey one, absolutely love it. Its so light and fits my hands perfectly. My original Switch will be staying docked from now on.

Playing the game here, It's offering me to purchase a 'New York Set' for €22! It includes 45 Rubies, Mario and 5 Star tickets. This game is WAY worse than Mario Run, I didn't mind purchasing Mario Run for €10, it was a one-off fee. But people moaned a lot about that and Nintendo admitted it was a mistake.... and now they bring out this? Baffling to say the least.

Just had a few races, yes I agree the controls are awful. I consider myself a Mario Kart veteran but I struggled to stay on the track half the time at the start. Slowly got the hang of it but my Kart is still all over the place.

Bought the grey one, I love it already! It'll go everywhere with me.

Both great games, would love to see either on the Switch

This would be great in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. It's a shame they never took the mission mode from Mario Kart DS any further, it was great fun, especially the boss fights. As much as I love Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, it was a lazy port, they could have added so much more.

Repetitive? I lost count of how many of the same campfires I attacked in Breath of the Wild.... zzzZZZ

Just in time for the Switch Lite! Both will be day one purchases for me (my original Switch will be left in it's dock from then on).

I love top down racers, being an Amiga kid. But this game didn't hold my attention for long, it was overly difficult in parts and the car upgrade system was annoying. Maybe I should give it a 2nd chance.

Triple A graphics there

@BlueOcean Haha so true, I gave up after the first page. I don't think there was any need to list every single DS game.

Very skewed list, seems to be mainly made up of Pokemon games, followed by Castlevania and Ace Attorney games, topped up with Japanese RPGs. A serious lack of famous DS classics in there.

Beautiful, can't wait for this. Love the pixel art in these games, it's one of my favorite art styles. Will be buying this for sure.

@CreepyNoodles Nintendo always cheaps on Batteries, the battery in the New 2DS XL was the worst of the 3DS line, and it was the latest model!

"Poor Port" seems to be a recurring theme with reviews.

Virtua Racing 2

Not a great 2nd half of 2019 for the Switch compared to the first (if you're not a Pokemon fan). Luigis Mansion is a must buy, but little else (Zelda is a remake, but a pretty one at that).

Can we 'teach' Namco how to make a new Ridge Racer?

Coming from a designers perspective, these are pretty awful colour combinations. After seeing these, and the colours of the Nintendo Switch Lite, I think the design department in Nintendo is loosing the plot....

@electrolite77 Yes it would have to be made from the ground up to get it working decently on Switch, and Rockstar obviously don't see the point in investing in it's development, they're still making a fortune from it. But i would love it on Switch, I've played it to death on XBOX360 and PS4.

@SwitchplayerJohn from what we've seen so far on Switch, I don't think it would run well. GTA5 pushed the PS3 & XBOX360 to their limits.

The official colours do nothing for me (except the Pokemon edition Lite) but all these are great! I got excited when I heard about the Lite announcement but that dissappeared when I saw the colours, available.

This one I will buy

@Heavyarms55 I agree the colour choices are dreadful. The only one I'll get is the Pokemon edition if I can get my hands on it.

@nintendoknife I also have mega drive, master system, pc engine & arcade games running on my N3DS. It is indeed a retro gaming powerhouse.

I own a Bittboy V3, same internals as the pocket go. Lovely little machine but yes the screen tearing on a lot of the emulators is terrible, I do not recommend it at all (get an LDK).

Another week, another Metrovania cheap pixel art game! Waiting for this 'genre' to die, quick. Why not some old skool platform games, left-to-right? Or make some retro virtua racing-stlye racing games, anything but more Metrovania'sszzZZZZZZ

Greatest Handheld ever and I'll play it for years to come. Great 3DS library, DS compatibility and an amazing retro game machine emulating many systems. It still comes with me when I travel (maybe a Switch Mini will replace that). I have stock-piled 4 3DS systems incase of future breakages.

Yeah it looks like Atari's Combat, I played that for many hours with my childhood friend.

@electrolite77 I have the PS4 version and it has the same problem, it uses L1 and R1 as the slide buttons. Utterly baffling controller choices.

I really like this game and bought it day 1, have spent many hours playing it. Yes it was a bit expensive

I hope they release Super Mario 3D World to fill that Christmas gap....

@tendonerd true, but a standard left to right platformer would cost the same. Everyone seems obsessed with MetrovaniasszzzZZZZ

Enough with the cheap looking pixel-art metrovania's. Do indie developers knows they are other genre options out there?

@SakuraHaruka Ah ok that's good news! It went straight to 'autodrive' controls when I played it on my android phone and I haven't played it since.

If I'm not mistaken you don't even accelerate or steer in this game, it's an auto runner. So don't get your hopes up, great graphics, burnout feel, but such a waste of a game....

Snapped this up as I loved the Turrican games on the Amiga. It did not disappoint, great game! I prefer the more action and linear style over metroids exploration. 9/10 from me.

Day 1 purchase for me, I love the Metal Slug games! Such beautiful pixel art.

This game looks perfect for me, but with the (still there) performance issues it's still a no-no.

Harsh score imo. Loving this game, I have the 1st version on the vita and I love that too. But It is a bit over-priced.

@Sveakungen I didn’t notice rumble unfortunately, yes it was great on the arcade machine. I did notice my car randomly drifting to the right a few times, but I don’t know if that’s the game or my joy-con (it’s never happened before playing this). Time to buy those lovely red Japanese only joy-cons anyway.
