Re: New Theory Suggests Nintendo Has Tried To Prevent Switch Lite Stick Drift After All

nintendork64

@DTFaux It was added to the Joy-Con lawsuit against Nintendo so is it really only two examples? Or did they jump the gun. I'm really interested in finding out.

I've never experienced the drift issue myself and neither has my wife on her Switch Joy-Con. Mine is a launch unit and hers we go about 6 months after launch. Not sure why our 8 Joy-Con are having no issues while everyone else is. Just lucky I guess.

Re: Mario Kart Tour Has A Paid Subscription Service For Bonus In-Game Rewards

nintendork64

If you ask me, comparing this to Nintendo Switch Online isn't a good idea.

The mobile market is different from the console market. Nintendo knows that. They are also experimenting with different things. Just because someone downloads Mario Kart Tour doesn't meant they have a Nintendo Switch, or pay for the NSO service.

Yeah, it would be cool if Nintendo offered NSO subscribers this for free as part of their sub, but they're two different things, so this should not be expected.

Re: Looks Like Copies Of Zelda: Link's Awakening Are Already Sneaking Out Into The Wild

nintendork64

@Jokerwolf I honestly agree with you somewhat, even though I've already committed to buying this game. It's a shining example of what a great Zelda game is, even if they did skimp on the added content.

I would be a lot happier buying this if it at least had a second quest, secret dungeons, or added challenges in it, but I won't feel completely ripped off if it's the same game with prettier graphics either.

That said, it would also be nice if Nintendo committed to DLC for it, even if it's something as small as being able to change the color of your tunic or sword.

Re: Reminder: Two More NES Games Hit The Switch, Plus Another Special Version Of Gradius

nintendork64

@Zacattack99 That's what I think too. It has to be a huge undertaking by Nintendo trying to get the licensing alone, let alone trying to decide which games to even try and get licensed, plus figuring out the release schedule so there's something for everyone.

I mean, I get the impatience. I really do. I'd love to have some SNES / N64 / GCN / GB games on the service, but trying to get licensing rights for all those hundreds of games across all those generations of systems from a number of different developers is a daunting task that anyone here would probably be driven nuts over.

Re: Video: The Joy-Con Bundled With The Switch Revision Are Slightly Different

nintendork64

@MartyFlan It's true. I own two news websites and I got tired of the industry norm of copy and paste years ago, which unfortunately carried over into my journalists as well and it was almost impossible to get them to stop.

One way I did combat it, though, was to require at least two different sources per article, and I checked for copy and paste and if something was too similar, I required a rewrite.

Not sure how things are done at NL, but that's what I did for awhile. Unfortunately, other things in life pulled me away from the websites, so they are no longer maintained.

Re: New Switch Models To Reportedly Benefit From Sharp's Energy Efficient IGZO Displays

nintendork64

@thatawesomedude Actually the N64 did get a revision, and it was a quiet revision similar to this new Switch model. The original N64 shipped with a different motherboard than the latest model (in North America, the original had NUS-CPU-03 motherboard while the last N64 in production had the newer more efficient NUS-CPU-09 motherboard. There wasn't really a difference besides the amount of power that was consumed (the heatsink blocks were removed from the latest N64 model to improve electric efficiency).

This is in addition to what @Asaki just said.

Plus, we can count the "memory expansion pack" that was released for games like The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask as a technical "revision" even though it didn't require the purchase of an upgraded console (if we're splitting hairs).

Re: The Switch Online Mobile App Just Received Another Incredibly Minor Update

nintendork64

@Alztru I'm also a former Windows Phone user and I can safely say that the Nintendo Switch Online app was definitely not the reason I switched. Unfortunately, the app is useless. I've only used it for voice chat once and that was only because my friend in the UK didn't have a Discord at the time. Since then, it's been sitting on my phone, taking up space, and hasn't been opened once.

Re: Hand of Fate Studio Defiant Development Throws In The Towel

nintendork64

So we have a tragedy happening in the gaming industry with the closure of this studio and @haxxor_2point0 @commentlife and @Paraka have taken into trolling each other in a comment section instead. The lack of empathy in some people is just staggering.

On topic, I do hope all of these talents find new jobs in the gaming industry. We need more creative minds to move the industry forward. Losing a job is never easy, but hopefully they'll find something else soon.

Re: The Game Sony Tried To Silence Is Getting An Uncensored Release On Switch Next Month

nintendork64

@Ralizah At least someone gets it. You sound like a smart and down to Earth person, unlike many I've seen on here.

Yes, this game may not be my cup of tea, but who am I to judge anyone if they enjoy these games? Like you said, reality is reality, fiction is fiction. If people aren't smart enough to tell the difference, then they probably shouldn't have a video game console in the first place (and should likely be committed for everyone's safety).
