I will just get a tempered glass screen protector and a simple slim case and I should be set.
If you plug wired controllers into that teensy mini stand... prepare for your Switch to go flying.
@JayJ same. My son is saving up for one, I'll be ordering him some protection so he's set with a screen that stays good and can transport stuff.
The stand could be very useful too though. That'll show later on.
I thought the mini stand had a HD out on the side there and thought I might be changing my dock for my normal switch, but then read and zoomed in to the picture, its just a USB port , damn it.
That Hybrid System Armor is giving me nerf vibes
@Bunkerneath It's officially licensed. Nintendo doesn't allow for third party docks within the official license. Also it's marketed for the Switch lite. Which has no TV out.
@gcunit Yeah it doesn't look very sturdy. You could use it as a charge stand though.
Buy these products to make your downgraded product, slightly closer to the original, superior, model!
Gotta provide a way to connect that Gamecube controller adapter somehow for those die hard Smash players who, for some reason, bought a light instead of just bringing their original model with them?
No wait, I am sorry what? Why even buy a Lite if you are going to bring a dumbed down dock and external controllers?!
I thought the whole point of the Lite was that it was downgraded so heavily to make it more portable focused!? Bringing a stand like this and external controllers just seems really silly. At that point you might as well get the superior, original, model and bring the dock with you...
@sanderev Yeah, like I said, I zoomed in and saw it was just a normal USB port
@Heavyarms55 Whilst I agree with your logic, nothing wrong with giving Lite owners options.
@YagaMaki You mean like the choice to buy a real Switch in the first place?
I've already made my points a hundred times about why I don't like the Switch Lite. But yes, I agree it's fine to cash in on people who want to do this sort of thing.
@Heavyarms55 I don't see a need for all the negativity about the Switch Lite, personally I am excited to have one to go alongside my launch Switch that I will be using mostly as a home console for now on. It's what I always wanted if I were to get a new version of this console, a more portable version that works better as a dedicated handheld. I plan to travel with the Switch Lite, the original Switch always felt a bit too bulky for that.
@Heavyarms55,
You know as everybody else does that this new model is not designed for us,it will fill a gap in Nintendo's current hardware,as for as long as I can remember Nintendo have offered a Home and handheld console,this is a round about way of doing that.
If they released the Switch light with the same features of the original it would eat into that market,if they released another dedicated handheld device they will not be able to keep both systems supplied with software,Nintendo will also get incremental sales from existing family's with an original Switch as this will offer a nice alternative for their kids.
I know my daughter can't wait for hers.
@Heavyarms55 Nobody is forcing you to buy a Switch lite. It's an optional version for people who don't need / want a Switch docked to their TV.
That's all.
Really digging that HORI stand, it’ll be nice to use wired controllers on the Lite
@Heavyarms55 Dude, you can make your points a million times if you want. Doesn't change the fact that there's a market for a cheaper and more portable Switch.
If Ninty are offering a product that some people will want, then all the more power to them.
Holey moley, $29.99 for a charging stand that doesn't even include the charger? That's kinda nuts, $14.99 at most for a tiny piece of plastic and 3 ports.
Hori should release a "Switch Lite" labeled Joycon charger for people who want a Switch Lite and extra Joycon but don't have a Switch to charge them. Though maybe they already sell one.
Seems like a good place to ask - will the Switch Lite come bundled in every region with it's own charger? I think it should, but I recall some 2/3DS models didn't.
@JayJ
Yeah, who'd buy a film screen protector when you can buy tempered glass?
@rjejr It will in North America at least. The reason the later 3DS models didn’t is because all DSi and 3DS models used the same one, so most people already had one.
@ALinkttPresent "The reason the later 3DS models didn’t"
Personally I view that more as an excuse on Nintendo's part to save money than a "reason". Nintendo could say - Switch Lite are for people who already own a Switch as a 2nd Switch so they don't need a charger either. Plus, Switch chargers via USB-C and a lot of people w/ newer phones already have one of those so wouldn't need another one.
But thanks, and I am glad they are, $200 for the Lite still seems about $50 too much for me for what you lose out on over the standard $300 Switch, but including the charger helps mitigate some of that cost.
@Woomy_NNYes Exactly how I feel and I am pretty sure that is how everyone feels in 2019. Film screen protectors are just very passe these days, they don't hold up nearly as well as the tempered glass, they are a lot harder to apply without getting bubbles, and they don't feel nearly as good to use. To top it off you aren't even saving any money.
Are these officially licensed by Nintendo? The article doesn’t make it clear.
@GravyThief try reading the title
@Bunkerneath @sanderev the Dual USB PlayStand looks like the previous Hori folding dock and the Nintendo Official portable charge stand had a baby.
This just a smaller version of their previous one. So it will only charge a Switch and not provide video out. Which is fine with me.
I already have both the other charge syands and they are great when out an about. But I do prefer the Hori one as it has 4 USB ports to power accessories or testing Donkey Konga Bongos with Taiko Drum on the #LegenedaryStairs.
@smithpa01 or the other 13 mentions in the article? Wooooosh.
@GravyThief it's too early for me to notice sarcasm first comment i had been up around 10 mins lol
@smithpa01 to be fair, they say sarcasm is the lowest form of wit, so I deserve any and all comments for sinking so low
Case is a must for any portable imho. I do refuse to spend 8 quid on a see through bit of plastic though....
Called it. I knew they were going to release cases with stands. This essentially means that tabletop mode on Switch Lite is possible.
I can't say that I'm getting one but maaaaan that aqua sure looks nice.
