Re: Animal Crossing: New Horizons Direct No Longer Mentions One-Time-Only Save Data Recovery

nintendork64

@Razer @Rpg-lover Animal Crossing is to Sims as Pilot Wings is to Flight Simulator.

Comparing the two experiences is unfair and not the least bit accurate, as their experiences are entirely different. In fact, the comparison doesn't hold up at all.

The latter is arguably more fun and, in the case of Animal Crossing, more relaxing. You don't have the annoying "real-life" physical mechanics that boggle down the Sims games. More zen, I suppose, is the best way to describe it. More fun things to do. More customization on your town (let's not mention the terrible Sims Free-Play game here).

If you experience it for yourself, you'll discover quickly that it's nothing like the Sims and just how far off the comparison is.

Case in point, I personally hate the Sims games but I absolutely love Animal Crossing.

Re: Buy Animal Crossing: New Horizons Digitally And Get A Free Switch Online Trial For A Limited Time

nintendork64

Already paying for a yearly family subscription. Besides, if I went digital and only had a copy for myself that my wife couldn't play on her Switch, she'd kill me. No choice but to get the physical version this time.

Besides, buying Animal Crossing just to get a 7-day free trial of NSO? That's like buying a hamburger and getting a free pickle to put on it. Inevitably, you're left wanting more pickles, but having to pay extra.

Re: Recovering Your Animal Crossing: New Horizons Save Data From Nintendo Is A One-Time-Only Deal

nintendork64

@Manah If you read between the lines, this is exactly what it sounds like. Not once does Nintendo say "Nintendo Switch Online members can only have save data recovered one time period."

They are very SPECIFIC:
"Nintendo Switch Online members can only have save data recovered one time due to the loss or damage of system."

That means you should be able to transfer files just fine with the purchase of a new system.

People are getting up in arms over nothing as usual.

EDIT: LOL I just now saw this article after I posted this: https://www.nintendolife.com/news/2020/02/animal_crossing_new_horizons_will_support_save_file_transfers_later_this_year

Re: NPD Shares US Software Sales For Last Month, 2019 And The Decade

nintendork64

@Trajan it wouldn't be able to run the game? You're serious?

There's literally nothing stopping Activision from getting this game to run on the Switch besides their own lack of trying. Time and time again we've seen so called armchair experts like yourself say "this game won't run on Switch" or "that game won't run on Switch". And they've been proven wrong time and time again.

There's an article on this very site about this: https://www.nintendolife.com/news/2018/02/soapbox_call_of_duty_can_work_on_switch_activision_just_needs_to_pull_the_trigger

The problem is that Activision is lazy. They don't want to try because why would they? Look at this list. They don't need to because people are buying this game on other platforms. If people stopped buying the game we might actually see that changed.

I hate Call of Duty but it would be nice to have it on Switch for the people who do like it. Activision just needs to stop "pulling an EA" with regard to the COD series on Switch.

Re: Sonic's Upcoming Movie Receives A PG Rating

nintendork64

@Zeldafan79 I remember those days. My cousin and I went to see Robocop 3. My aunt paid for it, and didn't even watch it herself. We went to the theater by ourselves and had a blast.

Of course we knew how to differentiate between "fiction" and "reality" back then.

Re: Poll: Is E3 Still Relevant To Nintendo In 2020?

nintendork64

I don't know about everyone else here, but I miss the Nintendo E3 press conferences of old. I loved hearing the reactions of the audience in attendance. It was a big part of the fun.

The glitches were there, yes, but I can remember actually feeling more excited about upcoming games and systems due to the audience reactions.

For example, there's no way The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess reveal would have been that good without hearing the excessively loud cheering from fans. Look up the video on YouTube. It's amazing.

I know I'm probably a dinosaur in this regard, but I do miss it and hope we can have a combo press conference / Direct format at some point to allow the full hype to be felt by the audience both there and at home.

Re: Gallery: A New Batch Of Lovely Animal Crossing: New Horizons Screens For Your Viewing Pleasure

nintendork64

@Anti-Matter I see it as a first step. The next game in the series will likely include all of the New Horizons features and has the potential to add on the camping and city features from New Leaf, Pocket Camp, and City Folk in new ways. That's what has happened with all AC games to date, with features from Happy Home Designer making it into Pocket Camp and New Horizons, while still keeping the features from earlier games mostly intact.

Re: Random: "Yahoo!" Is No Longer A Problem For The Legend Of Zelda: Link's Awakening

nintendork64

@Silly_G it's like Google. You can't own it per se. It's a number. However no one else can have a product called Google in search, cloud... Maybe computing entirely. There was no copyright problem here, though. It's not like Nintendo is building a search engine or even a function called Yahoo!... There's another underlying reason for this change and I'm willing to bet it was simply a creative decision and this is being too deeply looked at.

Re: Switch Recognised As One Of The "Most Important And Influential Gadgets" Of The Decade

nintendork64

@isellpixels we had cell phones in the early 2000s. My first phone was a Nokia flip phone when I was 14 (year 1998). We had smartphones back then as well thanks to Blackberry. However it wasn't until the iPhone in 2007 that smartphones really took off. As much as I despise Apple products, no one can deny that their products have been influential, as noted by the large number of them on this list.

Re: Grab An Officially-Licensed Pink Sega Controller And Join The Fight Against Breast Cancer

nintendork64

@JasmineDragon Not sure why you were downvoted as your response to @Zeldafan79 was actually right on the money.

Breast cancer is definitely far more common, at least here in the US (and probably the rest of the world too. About 250,000 cases per year in the US alone, versus testicular cancer's roughly 8700 cases per year in the US.

With regard to your statement about it being more likely to kill a person, this is also very true. The treatments for testicular cancer are, fortunately, very effective, with relatively high cure rates even in patients with metastatic disease. For those with breast cancer, the fatality rate is quite a bit higher and it's a lot more difficult to treat.
