Re: SteamWorld Quest Won't Release Physically At Launch Or At All On 3DS, No Loot Boxes Or Microtransactions

nintendork64

@RitingFool Might be a good time to consider upgrading to the Nintendo Switch (if your finances call for it, of course).

I honestly never play my 3DS anymore. That's not to say it's not a good system. In fact, I'd say it's the best system I've ever played.

I am hoping that one day, Nintendo will consider bringing some of the handheld features (AR, pinging other Switch users out in the wild, chat, etc.) over to the Nintendo Switch family and make it a superb handheld as well as a great home system.

On topic, this game looks very interesting to me, even if I'm not a fan of the genre overall. The fact that they aren't doing microtransactions is definitely a plus.

Re: Nintendo Issues Official Statement Regarding The Allegations Made Against Nintendo Russia CEO Yasha Haddaji

Reading all of these comments, I must ask.... whatever happened to "innocent until proven guilty?"

Seriously, I hate to get political, but it's like progressive/Democrat/socialist/SJW crazy disease is spreading.

If he truly did something wrong, he should be fired and pursued to fullest extent of the law. However, their investigations showed no merit to the allegations against him, and while I agree he SHOULD NOT have lost his temper and treated employees terribly, that's more of an HR issue, not a law issue.

Re: Random: Chinese Developer Found Selling Super Mario Bros. ROM On Microsoft's Digital Store

nintendork64

@Alto You laugh, but it's not as far-fetched as you might think. One needs only look at Minecraft for Switch, Banjo-Kazooie: Grunty's Revenge and Zoo Tycoon for GBA, etc. — all published by Microsoft on a Nintendo system.

Microsoft has embraced open source and multiple platforms especially recently, so I'd say Banjo-Kazooie on Switch would certainly be a possibility (albeit a small one).

Re: Smash Bros. Ultimate Is Second Most Anticipated Holiday Release, According To US Survey

nintendork64

Meh Super Mario Party is fun, and I'm sure the overhyped Super Smash Bros. Ultimate will be a great seller, but I'm still hoping to they'll release Super Smash Mario Bros. Ultimate Party. You know, you go around game boards beating the snot out of your friends in fights when you land on the same space as them, taking their stars and coins, using coins to buy weapons you can use in mini game battles, and the last one standing wins.

Hey a guy can dream.

Re: Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Races To Third Place In Individual UK Charts But Can't Stop Spider-Man

nintendork64

@BlueOcean Minecraft actually consistently makes $300 million+ for Microsoft each quarter, which is crazy, so it was definitely a smart acquisition (which is unfortunately usually not the case with Microsoft's acquisitions).

Yeah, I think the numbers could be skewed on the multi-plats a little bit with regard to Tetris, but Minecraft is impressive (and is not available on watches).

@Razer You're right, but there was never any elaboration as to what they were referencing other than "best selling game of all time." That would be Tetris. Overall console based games are Wii Sports. If you're talking multi-platform, it's Tetris, followed by Minecraft. If you cross-reference console specific games (link below), you'll find that Grand Theft Auto V isn't even in the top 5 at least for PlayStation 4.

Re: Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Races To Third Place In Individual UK Charts But Can't Stop Spider-Man

nintendork64

@Archius9 @BlueOcean Not to be nitpicky, but that would be Tetris (170 million+ sales) if we're talking multi-platform. If we're talking single platform, then Wii Sports is still the best-selling game (Wii only about 83 million sales). Still, Grand Theft Auto V ranks at #3 behind Minecraft (#2) so it's definitely a big deal and well worthy of some well-deserved bragging rights.

Re: Poll: Is Your Nintendo Switch Cracking Under The Pressure?

nintendork64

I'm going to have to look when I get home from work, but I haven't noticed any cracks off-hand. One thing I did notice was a purchased-separately left joy-con being very loose when in the handheld mode. The launch joy-con, my "Reverse Neon" joy-cons, and my gf's Splatoon 2 edition joy-cons don't have this issue. Just that one set. Oddly enough, when I'm using it with the joy-con grip, it works just fine, though that could be because the joy-con grip is a little tighter fitting with the joy-con than the console.

Re: Fortnite Player Takes All-Time Kill Record By Savagely Taking Out Rocket Launch Viewers

nintendork64

@Matthew010 Or here's a few more better ideas for you.

1) I'm assuming you have at least a 5th grade reading level, so you know that the article pertained to "Fortnite". Don't want to read it? Don't click on it. It's that simple.

2) There's a big ol' pretty search button at the top of the page. Don't want to take the time to scroll down a few inches on the screen to view what you call "related" articles? Search for a particular game and/or platform there.

3) Don't like the way @ryancraddock and the others run this website? Go somewhere else or, maybe even start your own. The internet is absolutely full of wondrous things called .com's. Why not add a first-party-on-Switch-news-only website to the mix and see how you do?

Back on topic, I think it was kind of a (funny) [removed] move, but hey, the guy did get his 15 seconds of fame on the internet, so obviously it wasn't too bad for him.

Re: Super Mario Party Will Feature Online Play With Friends, But Only For Minigames

nintendork64

Sorry but full board game online is a terrible idea. Not only would it potentially take HOURS, but unless you're only playing with friends you know and trust, no random person is going to stick with you for that long (let's face it, many online gamers are babies when it comes to losing) and if your internet connection has any issues (odds increase with eight players playing over longer periods), then it ends up being the opposite experience that players here think they might have.

Logically, the mini game mode is a great compromise. Maybe down the road they can add some "quick" modes similar to Monopoly where you can have an entire gaming session in 10 minutes.
