I must have had this pretty much on release then, I can’t remember a time not owning this game. I remember getting things like Skies of Arcadia Legends later on but I put this into the category of games I just always owned, like Rogue Leader, Luigi’s Mansion etc.
I would say I love Viewtiful Joe 1 and 2, which I do. I also have traumatic memories of watching my older brother absolutely lose his sh*t with the difficulty of that first game.
It’s interesting, although you do have to wonder if the original creators have to be given the pennies they’re owed for the mention. Cause then the dude behind Ren and Stimpy would be getting a payout, and he’s a nonce, statute of limitations be damned.
Feels a bit of a shame if so. Zelda could do with being the main focus, having Link just sort of takes the shine off. Hopefully it’s only a little bit, or that you can only play as him if Zelda summons him or something.
@LadyCharlie Games are ultimately whatever the intention of the developer is. It’s reductive to imply that games have to be exclusively fun at all times and not offer challenge, the medium can be whatever it wants to be. There’s plenty of art games that are purposefully hard too, Getting Over It being a prime example of using the challenge and futility as a metaphor for life, the universe and everything. Games require an active brain and expecting zero challenge is a fantastic way to make your player switch off and lose interest.
We create our own difficulty. If you give in and use other tools to win then fair enough but you only do yourself out of the experience. No different to Action Replay back in the day.
It’s a very healthy attitude for him to have, which is probably because he’s a dev himself now in a senior role. They can only push the one series so far, and people will be happy to see a proper conclusion.
They’ve always been rubbish (and only heard horror stories from workers) but it’s more of a death knell for games retail in general. CEX is about it and that’s a hellhole.
@Burning_Spear Eesh, see a lot of myself in that with regards to ADHD. I have Lost Judgement just sitting there on the final chapter meanwhile I’ve gotten the platinum in 2 Assassin’s Creed games and I’m working on the platinum for Kingdom Hearts 1. Breath of the Wild is sitting on my Switch with 4 beasts but no pressing desire to go back and finish it.
I’m ok with this, if we have to wait for quality then it’s worth it. Yes, I do want these devs to be paid more, to work less hours, to create shorter games. Nintendo have been easily the most sustainable in this vein, Sony have absolutely f**ked it this gen.
Shotgun Mario 64 is so f**king good. Some of the best movement in any 3D Mario. Also, imagine snitching. They aren’t going to hire your uncle at Nintendo.
A shame really. This is the state of small developers, it’s all or nothing. If they’re a subsidiary then they’re shut down. If they’re independent then the banks come calling.
@Samalik Yep, tried to play 3D Blast again and it’s just sh*t on so many levels. The Saturn might have struggled a bit when it came to certain 3D games but it got Tomb Raider, I’m sure it could have handled a middle ground between whatever the hell they were going for with 3D Blast and Adventure.
@Andee Yeah, it’s such a strange role for her to take but I’m glad if she gets more exposure. And I’ve been enjoying her as host of Bake Off the Professionals!
That’s insane. The GBA Asterix game was impressive but this is a technological marvel. I swear people on here just don’t understand hardware limitations, this is Super Mario 64… running on a console which struggled to run Sonic 1.
It was so incredibly obvious, the fact the offending ‘artworks’ made it through is a damning insight into the judging process. Not only were these pictures AI generated, the same person used variations of their name that a child could see through to get past the submission limits. Feel for artists who didn’t get through.
The irony is that the people on here saying that they should just make original content, as if it’s that easy, are the ones with not a single creative bone in their body. Anybody that works in any creative field knows that inspiration comes in many forms, especially through interacting with other media. Look how many ‘spiritual successor’ games there are, do you really think they used no copyrighted art in the design phase? How many singers got their start covering songs on YouTube without any permission from the record company? A lot of talented people get their start through this, and it’s the talentless who shame them for it.
@RadioHedgeFund Uh, Graslu was world champion at the GoldenEye championships. He knows this engine inside out. Literally if anybody could tell you how well this is emulated, it’s either him or one of the top speedrunners for PD.
@carlos82 I understand the theory of wanting more from a new entry of a series. But we’ve wanted a new Prime for this long because the gameplay loop is so satisfying. If I want a new Prime, it’s needs to be Prime.
Uh, Metroid Prime was already the ‘BOTW’ moment. Getting a new Metroid Prime means getting a new Metroid Prime. I don’t want a generic FPS, I want the game to feel like Metroid Prime.
@Anguspuss Hahaha, still have no clue why so many Bears support England over us when the team was notoriously leaving out Celtic players back in the day anyway. It’s more that I’m looking forward to the match while having absolutely zero hope in any way 😂
@Zochmenos Being bad is a crucial element of campness, something being polished automatically makes it feel like a plant. This is why messy divas are gay icons and schlock horrors are camp classics, the rough nature resonates with people.

A big loss, these teams were incredibly tight-knit and every member was entirely essential.
