Re: Round Up: The Reviews Are In For The Super Mario Galaxy Movie

They have a very pertinent point when referring to kids media essentially being made for adults’ nostalgia fixes now. There’s a genuine epidemic of kids’ media being completely overtaken by adults. A bloody Bluey rollercoaster or whatever in the UK had to tell the weirdo adults to stay away so that actual kids could have their turn. Instead of having media that cultivates kids’ imagination and creativity, we have checklists of ‘references’ for adults to point out and laugh to themselves about or post online.

Re: Poll: What's Your Favourite 3DS Model?

My original blue 3DS really is gorgeous and it’s such a shame that the charger port fell out, and then the battery died after using the cradle for another wee while. The New 3DS XL got my vote though, it was a great replacement for my original, everything ran brilliantly and it’s probably the best handheld console of all time.

Re: Rumour: Sony Apparently Has Gran Turismo Running On Switch 2, Just Don't Expect To See It

Wouldn’t be the first time Grubb spoke absolute bollocks. I’m not sure if other software engineers here feel differently but I personally don’t see the value in creating a build of a game for a console it will never release for, especially through the use of a Switch 2 dev kit. I see a lot more value in creating a build for a hypothetical handheld console in an environment simulating a rough estimate of the specs and architecture that Sony are aiming for. Or it’s possible that they’re porting GT7 to PC and these sorts of tests are pushing their optimisation to the limits and working out the range of setups the game will run at an acceptable level on.

Re: Pokémon FireRed And LeafGreen Are Already "Best Sellers" On The Switch eShop Charts

Thus ensuring any future releases in this vein will be £25-£30. Virtual Console worked because you could build up a library through small purchases fitting the fact these games are old as hell, and to encourage impulse buys. £17 is not an impulse buy in this economy, £17 is a few nights dinner. It takes the better part of a year’s saving to get one of these consoles, software should not feel like an investment too. Besides, the lack of an emulation menu means that the game won’t even look correct, that’s raw colour output that hasn’t even been filtered to resemble the GBA screen and so several Pokémon will look the wrong colour.

Re: Pro-Evolution Soccer Successor 'eFootball' Is Getting A Switch 2 Exclusive Spin-Off

@ShadLink The opposite is mostly true up until fairly recently. FIFA was the arcade experience, with less realistic physics and gameplay targeted at flashy skill moves and high scoring matches. PES offered more weighty physics and a slower build up throughout the golden age, it was later in the PS3 generation into PS4 generation that FIFA attempted a strange blend of pretend simulation with arcade gameplay. I honestly don’t mind the simulation gameplay in the newest FC games in single player but Ultimate Team rules all and that gameplay is blatantly scripted to generate income.

@CaptainQuo I have great aunts and uncles who still speak what I would call Scots. It’s mostly alive in the older generations. The general ‘Glasgow uni’ accent hatred is because they’re the ones who get the opportunities, and if they came from nothing then they’ve fair forgotten it. All the big cities in Scotland share a proud history of working class roots and I have more in common with poor folk in Dundee than the toffs in the West End. The push to keep Gaelic alive should also extend to Scots, it’s as much a part of our culture, but you’ll be hard pushed to find those in Holyrood who come from that stock. Also, like 90% of the newsreaders on Reporting Scotland have lilting Highland accents. Not sure when it started, I swear the most popular job in Dingwall must be newsreader for the BBC 😂

@CaptainQuo Glesga dialect is only gone in the posh parts. That’s the side of Glasgow that looks good on the postcards but it’s not reality. But you’re right that Doric is kept alive a lot better than Lowland Scots. I grew up in a council estate in a fairly rough area that’s slap bang in between social climber central and one of the most deprived areas in the country, so I went to a high school where you could quite literally tell those who had money from those who didn’t just based on their accent. Which is why it grates so much hearing the accents of those who make it in the media.

@MarkieMAN64 Correct, people confuse it with Scottish English which is obviously the modern dialect, but Oor Wullie is indecipherable for kids these days. We technically have Scots and Scottish Gaelic as indigenous languages and even then, Doric is a dialect of Scots and I couldn’t tell you half of what they say.

@AussieMcBucket Burns was born into a poor family and he opposed both slavery and class inequality. His poems were an inspiration for the later founders of liberalism and socialism.
