Re: Nintendo's Share Price Plummets In Response To E3 Direct

milliag

Honestly, the pre-E3 rumor mill is what did Nintendo in this year. People were expecting to see so many rumored games that when it didn’t happen, people couldn’t help but be disappointed. Plus, us die hard fans have the unrealistic expectation that every 1st party IP must be represented every year. I’ll take a lackluster E3 over not having directs throughout the year. With Sony and Microsoft, there won’t be any more big announcements until this time next year.

Re: Feature: Nintendo Life's Top Ten eShop Games From Switch's First Year

milliag

1.Golf Story
2.Sonic Mania
3.Rocket League
4.Wonder Boy
5.Fast RMX
6.Pinball FX 3
7.Picross S
8.Riptide
9.Blaster Master Zero
10.Shovel Knight Treasure Trove

I don’t really get the hype for Celeste. The story is decemt so far (I’m on Chapter 4) but the gameplay is a bit too maddening for me and the graphics aren’t anything to write home about. Maybe i’m just not into these Super Meat Boy type of platformers.

Re: Feature: Nintendo Switch Year One: A Review

My top ten Switch games of the first year:

10.Picross S
(my first experience with Picross, and i’m hooked)
9.Steamworld Dig 2
8.Doom
7.Rocket League
6.Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
5.Sonic Mania
4.Golf Story
3.Super Mario Odyssey
2.Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle
1.Zelda Breath of the Wild

My list is a testament of the sheer variety of quality games that I don’t think any system has ever matched in year one (or at least since Super Nintendo). There are a few other excellent titles I sank a lot of time into that didn’t make my top ten, like Arms and Puyo Puyo Tetris. I didn’t go into being a Switch owner with the expectation it would become my favorite system since the NES, but here we are.....

Re: Review: VS. Super Mario Bros. (Switch eShop)

Funny reading complaints for a 9 score for SMB. Folks this game is as classic as they come. You should be complaining it wasn’t given a 10! This game set the standard for all platformers to follow. You can’t review it on the basis of comparing it to games made 30 years later, you compare it to games of its time. I mean, I would find it ridiculous to review such a classic with a score of 6 or 7, personally.....

Re: The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild Wins Game of the Year at The Game Awards

I really think 2017 will go down as Nintendo’s greatest year. This year included perhaps their most successful system launch to date, possibly the greatest Zelda game, one of the best Mario games, the best Mario Kart game ever, handheld game of the year in Samus Returns, fantastic strategy game and big surprise Mario and Rabbids Kingdom Battle, the excellent Splatoon 2, the wonderful Xenoblade Chronicles 2, and a solid new-ish Pokemon release. On top of that you have their best slate of indie releases ever, and some solid 3rd party hits. You just can’t top that!

After years of waiting for 90s Arcade Racer (or 90s Super GP or whatever they’re calling it now), I guess this will have to do for a Nintendo arcade car racing fix. Would love to see more racing options for Switch next year.

@Alikan My wife saw video of the game and the first time she saw and heard dismemberment, she put her foot down and said she didn’t want me to bring this game into our house! I respect that, though. It’s a bit much.

Re: ThinkGeek Confirms That It'll Have Launch Day SNES Classic Stock in the US

Waited a little over an hour at Wal Mart for the midnight launch. They got 24 units in, and I was number 22. Came home and stared at the box and its contents before playing a few minutes of Yoshi's Island, Star Fox 1, Super Ghouls n Ghosts, and Donkey Kong Country. The games look and play great, and with the controllers, what is old felt new again! Love it.

Re: Review: R.B.I. Baseball 17 (Switch)

The parallels between this and Double Dragon 4 are obvious. Here you have a developer who wanted to make a game exactly like a game they grew up with (RBI Baseball on NES) and you have to ask how wise it is to keep everything so true to the original when those mechanics don't really age that well. And yet those of us who grew up with that are in a quandry because of our nostalgia and love for the originals. I'm actually borderline on this.
