Re: Editorial: Is This a Golden Era of Gaming? Absolutely

1990-1999 is my own personal golden generation for games. You start with the NES's best year for games- Mario 3, Final Fantasy, Dr Mario, Ninja Gaiden 2, Mega Man 3, Super C, etc...... Then you have the rise of Genesis/Mega Drive and SNES and their amazing libraries which did so much to advance gaming, the maturation of rpgs, the rise of one on one fighting games, FMV and early polygonal games, and then the cherry on top is the battle between N64 and the first Playstation which both hosted some of the best games of all time..... that's hard to beat. However, you could make an argument that, for an old school gamer, 2017 is the best year since the 90s.

When it comes to Switch, for whatever reason I've fallen in love with collecting physical again, after several years of playing mostly digital on Wii U, XOne, and PS3. That said when they can get me to pay 40 bucks for SF2 in 2017, it is in their best interest to make sure we get physical versions of both Mega Man Legacy collections, the Disney Afternoon collection, as well as Namco with a physical Namco Museum. I would buy all of those despite owning those games elsewhere....

The sooner 3rd party developers and gamers accept the fact that Nintendo is different and gonna do things their own way from Sony and Microsoft, the better off we'll all be. We may not have the latest COD, but we do have the latest Zelda, and no one else can say that. There are other alternatives for that 3rd party fix.
