Re: Nintendo Download: 22nd August (Europe)

Perhaps the recent decision by Nintendo to not include the prices was taken in the hope that people would go to the eshop to check, which might make impulse purchases more likely. It’s pretty lame, whatever the reason.

Classic Activision - ensure games are a bit unnecessarily grindy and less fun than they could have been, add microtransactions after release in order to avoid negative press.

What a woeful state of affairs. @SlyPlayr09 I don’t mean to be rude or single you out, friend, but that sort of attitude is making gaming worse for us all.

There was a time when cool unlockables were all unlocked in-game, and unlocking them was designed to be fun.

Re: Super Mario Maker 2 Players Have Already Uploaded More Than Two Million Courses

Just got the game, played the first one a lot, not massively into creating my own courses but got this one specifically for the online elements. Fired it up, super excited, and it’s a laggy mess seemingly 50% of the time. Googled it, found numerous articles complaining about the same thing. Hard to get excited about 2 million courses when the online is often utterly unplayable.

Did I miss the NL article about this sorry state of affairs? How on earth did the game get a 10 when such a key selling point is currently so bad?

Re: Review: Splatoon 2 (Switch)

Just upgraded from Splatoon 1 a couple weeks ago. Is appallingly difficult to play this game on the same team as your friends. First, get to level 10 to unlock ranked mode. Play ranked with your friends like in Splatoon? No. Get to rank B- in one of the ranked modes, which all rank up individually now - obviously the rotation means it takes longer to rank up. Only once you’ve jumped through all those hoops can you use the option to play online on the same team as your friends, this option is now called league battle, an option that exists in the game that you’ve paid £50 for but which you aren’t allowed to use until you’ve spent however long playing the game. It’s immensely frustrating and has taken the joy out of ranked mode for me, for the time being - I’m just grinding it so I can play with my friends.

I feel as though Nintendo has absolutely no respect for our time

Why isn’t any of this in the review @AlexOlney ?

What concerns me is whether or not these ‘lite’ mechanics will make it into next year’s game. Many seem to assume they won’t when they say “don’t worry, stop moaning, next year’s game is coming.” Have read many examples of that above.

This is being called a mainline game, and many people simply aren’t happy with the direction the mainline series has been taken with this game.
