Re: Review: Kirby's Dream Buffet - A Delicious Spread To Put You In The Party Mood

The biggest flaw, for me, is the lack of online options - it should be possible to join one or two friends then fill the group out with additional randoms, for example. And why isn't there an invite system? Mind boggling oversights, really. Especially galling when you think about how much better the online options are in various free to play offerings.

Edit: it seems "password matches" with friends are filled out by random humans online, it just isn't made clear at first. Just in case anyone read my initial comment someday and was put off.

@Switch_Pro my bad - shouldn't have said "pair"

I mean it's not possible to party up with more than one switch online on the same team; you can only play 2 v 2. Absurd in an online focused game with 4 player teams. Honestly couldn't believe it when I bought the game. I thought I must've missed the option somewhere.

@Switch_Pro I basically agree with you, but do you think it was unreasonable to expect to be able to pair up 2-4 switches on the same team online? It's 2022, after all. The fact that we can't was not "on the tin." In fact it wasn't even mentioned in the NLife review - I believe that review said "several switches" could be paired, which is pretty misleading. Nintendo's own marketing consistently referred to joining your friends online, not your friend. I emailed next level about it and they haven't responded. I think it's a valid complaint and must be patched in.

Hi @AlexOlney

Is it possible for three or four friends to team up online (on three or four separate consoles no one local) and then play strangers online? Or is it just two vs two?

Many thanks, in advance!

Edit: for anyone wondering who happens to read this, no, you can't. It is inexplicably, absurdly limited to 2 switches in an online party. This needs fixing as soon as possible. Highly recommend checking other reviews before buying. Love this site but I'm sad to say it's yet another NLife review that simply fails to give the consumer the information they need to make an informed decision.

@OorWullie so far my experience has been really positive! It tells you how many players are online at the time. I've never seen a number above 25 but still find matches every time in 30-60 seconds. You often end up matching with the same people again and again, which can be great, I've had unbelievable sets of matches with the same random players the past few evenings (different people each evening). Unfortunately it doesn't include the "search for users you've played with" friends thing on the switch.

I actually emailed the Devs, and they emailed straight back saying they have a lot of things to add, and plan to add that too down the road. So hopefully it'll keep getting better.

Can't say long term obviously, but as of right now it's some of the best online gaming I've had in years.
