Re: Poll: Nintendo Switch Delivers Single Screen Gaming - Will You Miss the Dual Screen Concept?

I think, all things considered, it was the best move. As far as the wii u was concerned it was so rarely exceptionally well utilised anyway and third party developers perhaps couldn't win with it: spend extra resources developing for it and risk not making any return or don't bother and get slammed for 'lazy ports,' and still risk a poor return.

I have loved the gamepad, but it's a drain on power and clearly makes porting harder. Hopefully with the switch we really will see more third party support. That, coupled with the unification of Nintendo's handled and home console divisions several years ago - presumably with the switch somewhere in mind - means we should see plenty of great content.

I also think Nintendo might have got this one just about right in terms of the trade off between appealing to what some people call 'core gamers' and the hook that can attract a wider audience.

I'm optimistic, all in all, and I eagerly await the day when all bow down before our Nintendo overlords once more.

Couldn't agree more, I have loved the Wii-U. That being said, it has been a missed opportunity. I've said it several times on here but just imagine some of the games that could've been made: imagine playing a cricket game with a friend, the fielding team on the gamepad, meaning the batter would have no idea what ball was coming next. All manner of sports games could've been the best versions ever seen. Imagine an L.A Noir style game with the gamepad as your notebook. And obviously developers would've come up with so many more epic ideas had the market been there. A great system, but a bit of a shame too, I think.

@Vineleaf haha, yeah I hear you! We'd all like that from everyone ☺️. But this is the Internet; aggression and condescension seem to be many peoples first responses to any online debate.

I personally don't think anything Damo says is ever too untoward or aggressive. He can be a little sarcastic maybe, but a lot of commentors are idiots, frankly, so it's hard to blame him. ☺️

@The_Dude_Abides Stop the presses! 'Shock, horror: NintendoLife contributors outed as Nintendo fans by wily commentor.'

Just kidding with you ☺️. In all seriousness though, surely all reviews are opinions, inherently subjective?

Re: Poll: Nintendo Has Laid Out Its Legend of Zelda E3 Plans - Are They Enough?

Nintendo surely has to show more games, even if it's just some trailers that have been hastily cobbled together. They'll be a laughing stock if they only show Zelda. Microsoft and Sony often seem to show endless games that aren't even coming out for years, which I don't think is a particularly good thing to do but it does at least ensure they get plenty of coverage, and lots of people seem to lap it up.

They should be in a position to show trailers for NX launch games, what with it supposedly coming out in March. I can understand them not wanting to potentially limit Wii u and 3ds sales still further and them not wanting to spill too many NX beans before they're ready but, for heaven's sake, show us a few shiny trailers. I don't think that's asking too much, for what is still the biggest and most important gaming expo around.
