When we got our first look at Behaviour Interactive's Dead by Daylight running on the Switch, we were horrified in more ways than one. The visuals and performance were arguably scarier than the asymmetric survival horror concept. If you don't believe us, take a look at the footage below.
Brushing these concerns aside, it's now been confirmed you'll be able to survive together, or alone, on 24th September. As we previously explained, this game allows you to play as the hunter or the hunted. The killer has a first-person view, while the four survivors have a third-person view. There's also a stack of content to unlock, such as costumes for survivors and even the killer.
Will you be taking your chances with this game when it arrives on the Switch? Tell us below.

Yeesh...I forgot how bad this port looked. Hard pass
This was the port of the GameCube version right?
I know it looks kinda crap at the moment, but the game is several months away from release and is likely to be polished up beforehand. So I wouldn't worry. Half the game is in complete darkness anyway.
I feel like the Switch has quite the abundance of horror games. Not a genre that really appeals to me, so I can't really have an opinion on it one way or the other because I've hardly played any. The ones I have have either bored me or just been jump scares.
Well there are worse looking games out there and I would like to try it to see if it runs smooth. To me looks aren't everything, I want my games to run like they're supposed to.
@JR150 Unfortunately, The game looks terrible on PC and PS4, and what you see right now is already quite close. It also RUNS terribly on console platforms (I play almost week day). The game will not look any better than what you see.
If theyve added the single player stuff, and I can play offline, Ill grab it.
@SJND
Well if that's the case, I still might take a look because it seems like stupid horror-ible fun lol
I might get it just to play mobile as long as it hits a steady framerate
Is this game an online only play?
@Heavyarms55 If your a fan of more subtle horror (which I am most of the time) check out The Last Door on Switch. It’s a shame most people are going to overlook this game because it really does nail the themes of Lovecraft and similar gothic writers.
Darkwood is also really good and atmospheric.
Like others say... if they add solo player I’d be interested.
@Rpg-lover Yeah, it's online only with 1 (killer) vs 4 (survivors) matches.
I played it on PC and even there the game is questionably optimized. No wonder they had to downgrade it so much on the Switch to make it work.
@MajinSoul Did you also play The Friday 13th game? I’m curious which one to pick up if I only wanted to invested in one asymmetrical multi horror game.
@MajinSoul okay thanks for the info, will look forward to it.
Got it on PC, it's good but has a lot of flaws, have a horrible feeling the switch version is going to be even more buggy
It's a fun game when you get a decent match but there's a lot of toxic players as well that can ruin the fun.. It's hard to recommend but at the same time I kinda wanna recommend it xD
@Heavyarms55 chicken chaser
Is it really that ugly, or are we just looking at old footage from the PC version?
Got this on psplus last year, had so much fun with it, it’s a great game. Can take a while to fill lobbies though, even on PS4.
@Dakotastomp its just pretty ugly in general
If you want my advice, wait until getting the switch port until its been confirmed how well it runs, it is quite buggy and unoptimised on PC
@SJND
That's what I was going to say.
Even on a high end PC this game looks awful.
That's the bad no offline play that to me is a no buy.
@Doktor-Mandrake Aight. Hope it gives us a patch or something.
My son loves this on PC, has hundreds of hours into it.
This game looks fine, it plays even better.
@JR150 Your puns won't scare me away from getting this game!
@Heavyarms55 Yeah, I won't play horror games unless it's unique, and have a way to fight back. I hate those 'run away because you're useless' style horror.
So far I played
*Resident Evil series
*Last of Us (i think this counts because of the clickers and such?)
*F.E.A.R. series
*Hollow
*The Evil Within 1
[ If anyone wants to recommend a good horror game based on these titles, feel free, and I'll give it a look.]
@Morrow FEAR was probably the one horror game I liked. But that was more of a horror theme'd shooter than it was a horror game.
@SJND Have you played after the latest update? I notice the xbox one version runs a lot smoother than usual now.
@Heavyarms55 That's true. I still think it deserves to be called a horror game considering it scared the hell out of me. That game gave me nightmares for weeks, literally. It F.E.A.R. 1 was the most scary game I have played in my entire life. The atmosphere, Alma, ghost monsters, demons, exc. They are all done perfectly to give you that chill factor.
@Morrow Oh yeah, thematically it was a horror game, no doubt. But gameplay wise it was more of a shooter, and I think that's why I actually enjoyed it.
Most horror games feel like a slow craw where your character is weak and useless. At least the ones I have tried or watched. But FEAR did feel like you could really fight back and or escape.
@Heavyarms55 Yeah, that's true. I agree with you on hating those slow paced horror games where you are helpess to fight back.
Woah, those fantastic graphics!
