Re: Nintendo Switch Stays On Top in Japan Despite Sharp Week Two Decline

@Koke yeah I'm in Osaka and have experienced everything you say - I did manage to find a pro-controller in a random supermarket near me (which I bought even though I don't have the switch yet, just because I was aware of the scarcity).

I've heard talk of a restock here tomorrow, am keeping my fingers crossed.

@Rontanamo_Bay well I'm in the rather nightmarish situation of wanting the switch but not having it yet - I have to wait for pay day on the 15th I'll be getting it Wednesday if I can find one. Will try and remember to give you my thoughts then. That is if you haven't gone for it already yourself.

And entirely agree about supporting devs such as these!

Re: Feature: Some of Our Favourite Legend of Zelda Games

I like different Zelda's for different reasons, as many here probably do too. Twilight princess has the best dungeons in the series, in my view, and I remember the same frosty Christmas morning that Matthew remembers; so I might have to say TP is my favourite.

Re: The Escapists 2 Will Be Breaking Out on Nintendo Switch This Year

luke88

@Manjushri haha, never mind ☺

I am surprised you would say that though; 'indie game' is such a broad term these days, there's so much variety, and so many different kinds of experiences that just aren't being delivered by 'major' developers.

I feel as though the industry would be in a far worse, more stale and far less creative, place were it not for the increase in independently published games over the last 10 years or so. Guess that's just my opinion, though. I'm sure we're all eagerly anticipating a brand new Mario kart too, don't get me wrong.

@Manjushri I really don't think Nintendo's marketing department, the department I imagine attempt to forge relationships with third parties, have anything to do with programming; be it Mario kart or anything else.

Is there honestly not a single game from the Nindies video that piqued your interest? I thought lots of them looked pretty amazing. You should give some indie titles a try if you haven't already

@nintendolifestaff

I notice in the first video that you can set the switch up with your region of choice. Can I ask if this means we can buy a switch anywhere and set it up with our region of choice? And then access that region's eshop?

I ask as I don't live in the UK currently, but want to set my switch up as if I was living in the UK still - as I'll be back at some point in the next few years. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

"Nintendo Switch will launch worldwide on March 3, 2017, and we look forward to everyone being able to discover the wonders of the new system for themselves at that time."

Sorry... What?

I guess that's one way of doing it. Another way would be to tell us key details themselves. At this point I'm still not certain I'll even be able to buy one, though that video has filled me with hope.

Re: Nintendo Outlines Pricing Range for Switch Online Service

luke88

I just hope this doesn't have too big an effect on the number of players online. Of course I doubt it will have a serious impact when playing Nintendo's first party titles. But a game like runbow, for instance, would've been so great had there been more people playing online.

Re: Soapbox: You're Going To Love ARMS, And Here's Why

luke88

Especially after 1-2 Switch, which I was disappointed by. I think HD rumble needs to be experienced to be fully understood, perhaps.

Also, was I the only one thinking about red dead 2 during the opening, western themed, skit for 1-2 Switch?

Re: Rumour: Fire Emblem Fates Could Be Getting A Nintendo Switch Port

luke88

I guess the more people that get to play this great game the better, and the same is true for some of the other ports that are confirmed/rumoured.

Having said that, the trend towards endless 'game of the year editions' and remasters and ports is, along with micro-transactions, kind of stifling creativity within the industry - at least among some of the largest developers, in my opinion.

Re: Guide: A Breakdown of Confirmed Nintendo Switch Games and Release Dates

luke88

For the first time since the snes I may not buy a Nintendo home console on launch, which makes me rather sad. Whichever way you spin it, it's not a great launch day line up. Sure, 1-2 Switch is apparently lots of fun, by all accounts, but it seems like something that needs to actually be played before one really 'gets it.' It probably should've been a pack-in game without any RRP adjustment.
