@Cosats um, sorry perhaps I didn't make it clear, my post had nothing to do with not having the money - it's been impossible for me to buy a switch. I've checked over a dozen shops now. Have been looking on every day off I've had since my last pay day a couple weeks ago.
Making the next mainline Pokemon game a Switch exclusive is perhaps the most important thing. Getting it out this year or very early next year would help too. With a big reveal at e3.
@Koke yeah I'm in Osaka and have experienced everything you say - I did manage to find a pro-controller in a random supermarket near me (which I bought even though I don't have the switch yet, just because I was aware of the scarcity).
I've heard talk of a restock here tomorrow, am keeping my fingers crossed.
Stock shortages are most likely contributing to this. I tried to buy a switch in a dozen shops in Osaka yesterday. Sold out everywhere, and no one knows when more will arrive. People tell me it's the same in other major Japanese cities.
It's just not good enough, from Nintendo, in my opinion.
I just spent the last four hours trawling all over the place, went to around a dozen shops and they were all sold out. More worryingly, none of them knew when they would get more in. Am pretty frustrated.
@Rontanamo_Bay well I'm in the rather nightmarish situation of wanting the switch but not having it yet - I have to wait for pay day on the 15th I'll be getting it Wednesday if I can find one. Will try and remember to give you my thoughts then. That is if you haven't gone for it already yourself.
And entirely agree about supporting devs such as these!
Wow, that video really hits home just how talented the Shin'en team is. Bought this on Wii u but only played for 30 mins or so, just didn't get into it. Deserves a second chance on Switch, I guess.
I like different Zelda's for different reasons, as many here probably do too. Twilight princess has the best dungeons in the series, in my view, and I remember the same frosty Christmas morning that Matthew remembers; so I might have to say TP is my favourite.
For heaven's sake, the thing comes out on Friday and I still don't know for certain if I can set it up to access the UK eshop if I bought the console in a different region. All the signs are positive, am terribly excited but, still, this seems like madness.
Nintendo UK told me to 'ask again on launch day' π
I am surprised you would say that though; 'indie game' is such a broad term these days, there's so much variety, and so many different kinds of experiences that just aren't being delivered by 'major' developers.
I feel as though the industry would be in a far worse, more stale and far less creative, place were it not for the increase in independently published games over the last 10 years or so. Guess that's just my opinion, though. I'm sure we're all eagerly anticipating a brand new Mario kart too, don't get me wrong.
@Manjushri I really don't think Nintendo's marketing department, the department I imagine attempt to forge relationships with third parties, have anything to do with programming; be it Mario kart or anything else.
Is there honestly not a single game from the Nindies video that piqued your interest? I thought lots of them looked pretty amazing. You should give some indie titles a try if you haven't already
@Reginald ah, yes, I know it was confirmed for carts, but is that going to apply to eshops? Can I buy a Switch in Japan and access the UK eshop with it? That's what I'm wondering Start-up videos seem to confirm that you can.
I notice in the first video that you can set the switch up with your region of choice. Can I ask if this means we can buy a switch anywhere and set it up with our region of choice? And then access that region's eshop?
I ask as I don't live in the UK currently, but want to set my switch up as if I was living in the UK still - as I'll be back at some point in the next few years. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
"Nintendo Switch will launch worldwide on March 3, 2017, and we look forward to everyone being able to discover the wonders of the new system for themselves at that time."
Sorry... What?
I guess that's one way of doing it. Another way would be to tell us key details themselves. At this point I'm still not certain I'll even be able to buy one, though that video has filled me with hope.
I'll be getting it. I really enjoyed E.A's segment in the presentation, with the red and black branding and general nefarious/evil aura of that guy who came on stage, it really played into the whole 'EA is evil' thing. Guy needs to crack a smile.
I just hope this doesn't have too big an effect on the number of players online. Of course I doubt it will have a serious impact when playing Nintendo's first party titles. But a game like runbow, for instance, would've been so great had there been more people playing online.
I would like to see Nintendo focus all their resources on making as many top quality switch games as possible - they can't afford to have game droughts this time around.
I would like to know the following: if I buy a switch in Japan, can I download games from the UK eshop in the same way that I could with a PS4?
I know its region free but is that limited to discs? Any thoughts on this would be much appreciated. Apologies if this has been covered somewhere and I've missed it.
I guess the more people that get to play this great game the better, and the same is true for some of the other ports that are confirmed/rumoured.
Having said that, the trend towards endless 'game of the year editions' and remasters and ports is, along with micro-transactions, kind of stifling creativity within the industry - at least among some of the largest developers, in my opinion.
For the first time since the snes I may not buy a Nintendo home console on launch, which makes me rather sad. Whichever way you spin it, it's not a great launch day line up. Sure, 1-2 Switch is apparently lots of fun, by all accounts, but it seems like something that needs to actually be played before one really 'gets it.' It probably should've been a pack-in game without any RRP adjustment.
@Dazza is there any way to tell which links are commissioned? I would like a percentage of any purchase myself or family members make go to NintendoLife.

Re: Poll: Is the Splatoon 2 Global Testfire Boosting Your Nintendo Switch Hype?
I don't think the timing is great, as so many of us, myself included, can't actually buy a switch at the moment. Lame.

Especially after 1-2 Switch, which I was disappointed by. I think HD rumble needs to be experienced to be fully understood, perhaps.
