@Clammy That's not how this works, that's not how any of this works.
Edit: Unless you ment a HD version of the original rendered sprites but even then they needed to draw new frames, I think just reworking everything creates a cleaner more cohesive game overall.
It does look really fatefull and it is one of my favorite RPG games.
If they ever make a Chrono Trigger remake I wish the Dragon Quest team would handle the graphics because they have mastered the Akira Toriyama art.
@Darknyht I listened to nĂ¼Metal and I loved sands of time but hearing Godsmack in the 2nd game was kind of cringe for me and I doubt that I was the only one.
The design and trailer has mad "how do you do fellow kids?" vibes to it.
I don't like this 'urbanization' of things specially if you have something already 'diverse' to tap from, namely Persian folklore wich is in itself interesting enough to not smother it in generic hip hop music and hairstyles.
(inb4 people will take my words out of context because of my profile pic)
@Axlroselm Yeah why use an artstyle that is actually good and instead turn billy in some twink boy.
I like the animations but that's about it. It is not as vibrant as River city Girls, Not as gorgeously gritty as SoR4 and it does not have the awesome IP and love put into it as TMNT and it does not have mastered nostaliga fanservice as all of the above.
Port Deus EX: Human Revolution to the Switch you dingleberries! I mean it has a Wii U port and it would run great on the far more powerfull switch. I AM asking for this!
@TheBigBlue There are two sides to this story, sometimes games are no longer available to the public. Many Arcade game are lost to time and most people who play games today have never seen or heard of them let alone played them. Many people who pirated a game around launch and like it, buy it later on sale to have it legit. And when it comes to streaming services, certain content is regio locked and it is really fair that you should not be allowed Black Adder if you are an American? They are not always available on physical media with visual quality according to todays standards. On the other hand, if indie studios do not get enough sales investors might back out and the studio will go defucnt. It is kinda silly that some companies like movie studios ask 5 euro to watch a 30 year old movie that turned profit on boxoffice, earned some more on domestic sales
@Moonlessky That does make sense but some games are extremely novel to have like the 3D classics. and maybe they have slipped your mind and you forgot about them or were holding them off. or now that they are on closure sale maybe some people see it as a cheap entry into Ace attourney wich can be incentive for more games in the series! (I am just love these games)
@Deviant-Dork They may not be your cup of tea but I can tell you with certainty that the Shantae, steamworld and Ace attourney games are very high quality and criticly acclaimed experiences. To make such generalizing statement comes across as haughty.
@WallyWest She-Hulk is an old character but it is not a genderswapped Bruce Banner and what was in that televised abomination was not She-hulk but a serialized collection of tiktok like cringe under the same name.
The Castlevania Advance collection is indeed carried by Aria of sorrow but both Circle of the moon and Harmony of Dissonace are still very much top-tier games.
The darkness of the visuals of CotM are no longer a burden to it yet the music of HoD is still below Castlevania standards due to it's lacking quality. The compositions are great though.
@Nikhogan Honestly a small game based on the movie with levels inspired by locations and events in the movie without spoiling it would be nice as a limited time promo download.
Kinda like the old Disney platformers, about 10 substanial levels.
I see this picture and I hear the map jingle! It looks pretty cool, I love the determination in Arthur's face as he bravely jumps over an undead to throw his dagger into oncomming danger.
@Fizza The game is very much a Stephen King inspired story. Not much of body horror and gore you will find but a great atmosphere. Also the game that ignited my love for Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds so there is that.
I don't get hte hate for the European cover. But I guess it's a generational difference I mean there are people liking the same type of art as presented in Return to Monkey Island
@Dandare Streets of rage was geared and tuned to toward the die hard players who like to use advanced mechanics to rack up combos. TMNT was geared towards a casual market so people who were just TMNT fans could play it but has enough dept to make it more appealing to the hardcore beat em up fans. They are both great in their own rights both really enjoyable, great presentation. These 2 games with River City Girls are my trinity of Switch Beatm em ups.
@JustMonika Well I guess I am more into skill based gameplay or the kind of immersion you find in games like RDR2 where the world feels almost natural. Visual novels usually feel stilted and slow to me the only ones I can enjoy are the Phoenix Wright series because of the colorful cast and the puzzle element to the dialogue. I thought the production on Life is strange was allright but the story and characters where a bit cringe for me. I much prefer something like Max Payne or Alan Wake.
@JustMonika It's an allright game, if it is one of the top 10 games I advice you to play more games. To each their own ofcourse but for me it doesn't even come close to the top 50.
@Zimon Rufus is selfish but he also tries to do what is right, the game aknowledges he is awful he is just not self aware enough to notice. I like him as a character because he is not evil just a bit of a jerk.
@N00BiSH Not cheap in a cost cutting way but cheap in a low effort kind of way. It is mostly the character design, the artstyle works better for the backgrounds.
I love the Monkey Island games, Loved Thimbleweed park. but this artstyle is so hideously bland and non-monkey island that I cannot tell myself I must play this game. It is the biggest downside of presentation for me. I never liked this type of art it seems cheap, rushed and lacking in any real character and makes Escape from Monkey Island look like graphical masterpiece.
@JakedaArbok What do you mean they are wrong. Everyone has their right to have an opinion about something as subjective as an artstyle. Just because some official outlets like it doesn't mean I suddenly have to agree. Nah this discolored nose guybrush is utterly hideous to me and I cannot fathom why this art was chosen given how other games in the series look.
The art style still makes it the ugliest Monkey Island game, it even makes the 4th look pretty decent. I am glad the rest is left intact but I am hesitant to buy it because I don't know if I can look at it for too long.
