Re: Ori Developer Moon Studios Labelled "Oppressive" Workplace In New Report

khululy

As many have said we know very little about what is actually being said and done.

To some this might seen as an accusation of the employees lying but a reputation is easily destroyed by damning rumors, I have been in that place a few times myself.
People are very quick to take the side of the accuser.

On the other hand some people are just bad leaders, great artists, programmers, composers etc. but not when in a position of power.
The Ego is easily inflated if you gain control over others and if you couple this with perfectionism this can lead to unwarranted behaviour.

It could also just mean a disgruntled employer wants to get back at their boss and just throw some rumor around and see what happens.

It could also be that the leadership just let everything fester because they do not want to boss around people or put them in the place which also gives them the ability to do whatever.

In the end this just goes to show that people are flawed beings and no one fits any idea of perfection or moral superiority.
It seem to me a lot of people want to be on the side of good but what it truely means to be a good person is not as black and white as a lot of people seem to think these days.

Re: Feature: 5 Accessibility Features That Every Game Should Have

khululy

@riki_sidekicks Can, but are in no way obligated or owe anyone to do it.
I like Building sims in their concept but I have no concept of finance so none of these games are 'accesible' to me so I just play them casually till I hit my bottle neck or avoid them.
It's not hard to just admit defeat and look for some other game to play there is plenty to do after 3 decades worth of development.

Re: Feature: 5 Accessibility Features That Every Game Should Have

khululy

I don't think difficulty options for games should be mandatory.
Just like horror films are not for the faint of hard, difficult games are not for those who cannot overcome their challenge.

I have no sense of rythm so most rythm games are far beyond my grasp, even on easy a hatsune miku game kicks my ass.
And I am fine with that, people should shake the idea that every game needs to be for everyone sometimes a game is just too hard or time consuming etc. then just don't play it.
It's just like people, you can try to get everyone to like you but that will never happen and that's ok.

and if a developer, who ofcourse is free to put in their game whatever they like, decides to put one in it should be so that it does not take away from the intended game design philosophy.

A game that comes up a lot in this is Dark Souls a game that can be incredibly unforgiving but is not exactly hard just has a steep learning curve but it will lose it's meaning if you can just faceroll your way trough the game.
Besides, DS games start on their easiest difficulty because it can only go up from there.

Re: Naughty Metroidvania 'Wife Quest' Launches On Switch In March

@Quarth Well I was wrong this time but yeah ABBA loops are nightmarish.
Regarding this person, nothing about this are accusations it's just how they are in general.
They put me on ignore simply because I do not share their view of things, that is enough for me to not value their opinions on anything but that is not the point here.

Re: Mother 3 Producer Would "Love To See" GBA Entry Receive A Worldwide Release

khululy

@-wc- While I understand where Nessisonett is coming from I cannot agree that a game should change for that purpose simply because it 'might' offend someone because they are part of a certain 'group'.
as you said we don't know how many of the gamers will play this game once released and how many trans people would be offended by it.

As far as the name Magypsies goes... easily changed to Romagi and you get the same meaning.

But I do think that the depiction are an essential part of the games presentation and japanese cultural depiction of Okama.
It's just how they are seen and people can decide for themselves if it is good or bad.
These acts of 'protection' deminishes these groups and paints them as too weak or immature to have proper judgement or handle sensitve content and I think they deserve better than that.

Re: Mother 3 Producer Would "Love To See" GBA Entry Receive A Worldwide Release

khululy

@-wc- See, my problem with this whole debacle is that as you said not everyone would be offended or even play the game.
Why can't a fictional world have 'homophobic' people in it?
Them being there does not represent the creators thoughts, maybe he want you to judge for yourself.

I give as an example, if you write a first person novel about a anti semetic nazi during WW2 and in his head that character thinks he is the hero of the story and that he does all the right things.
Then it is up to the reader to conclude wether or not the person in the story is good or bad it's not the writer telling people "Well I wrote this guy as a protaganist, therefore I think all his actions are good and just."
It represent a very two-dimensional way of seeing the world and people and is really childish way of looking at things.

A game like Earthbound is far more mature than its presentation leads you to believe which is what makes it so beautiful in my opinion.

Re: Mother 3 Producer Would "Love To See" GBA Entry Receive A Worldwide Release

khululy

@nessisonett Don't they though? maybe not for their 'identity' sure and the fact that you think I am bigotted by me saying 'Chapelle was right' exposes your bigotry.
You don't even adress the other points I made you clearly just want to do backflips while grandstanding on your highhorse.
I really hope we get an un adulterated version of this game as a translation

Re: Mother 3 Producer Would "Love To See" GBA Entry Receive A Worldwide Release

khululy

@nessisonett oh don't be so dramatic most okama depictions in japanese media are kinda lovingly silly.
Like the ones in one piece, Yakuza, Gintama and in this game from what I can tell they are the good guys.
Most 'groups' are made fun of in many ways look at middleclass husbands in cartoon shows all fat drunk idiots, no one cares.
People who like games and reading are nerds and get bullied ppl don't bat an eye.
Dave Chapelle was right...

Re: Ubisoft: Players "Don't Get" What Makes NFTs So Beneficial

@chiefeagle02 The planet is not fragile.
A unconvenient truth is that earth will manage just fine if we destroy ourselves to extinction.
The eco systems will eventually rebalance themselves and things will go on as if nothing happened.
It's mostly OUR livelyhood that is at stake which is certainly a topic of concern for us as species.
We also as a whole need to take responsibility for the messes we made but we only 'recently' discovered our impact as mankind.

Re: Ubisoft: Players "Don't Get" What Makes NFTs So Beneficial

khululy

So they want to sell us products that are not worth replaying so we can resell them to other players so they can get a cut of that sale so they can keep making money of 'discarded' games.
Or they want to make all loot and extras in games a purchase and the games they sell us are just graphical shells we get the 'privilege' to play.

I cannot think of any scenario how this could benefit players.
If I think I will play a game only once or not till the end, I will wait for sale, the time enjoyed vs the money invested needs to be a good balance.

More and more big companies treat games like a consumer product, which they are to a degree, instead of a work of art a means to expression or just good entertainment.
We are back to the days of the arcade again where games are made to bleed wallets one quarter at the time.

Re: Mini Review: Shadow Man Remastered - A Rich, Inscrutable World To Get Lost In

"The medium has absolutely moved on from this kind of deliberately maze-like environment"
I am currently playing Jedi Fallen order and it certainly has a maze like structure in it's levels albeit with a bit more shortcuts and modern gameplay.

I adore the remasters of old Acclaim N64 games thath Nightdive Studios put forth, this as an absolute gem.

Re: Video: Digital Foundry Investigates Shadow Man's Frame Rate And Resolution On Switch

khululy

Having played the remaster on pc and seeing how well it runs on switch, I would surely recommend this game to those who like horror games, old school cult classics and retro gameplay.
It is a flawed game that is a product of it's time but once you adapted to it's quirks it is a great game with an amazing soundtrack by Tim Haywood (the deadside overworld music is amazing and the music in the area called 'the Playrooms' is the most demented piece of music I have ever heard.)
Nightdive did an incredible job on the remaster but the people who developed the original also deserve credit for this little gem.

Re: 'Gex' The Forgotten '90s Video Game Mascot Might Be Making A Comeback

@Greatluigi They were allright, not Bubsy 3D bad but not out there with Banjo Kazooie.
They had pop culture reference that dated quickly, one liners were over used and camera that was just plain evil and overal a lack of refinement.
Great games? not by any sense of the word but they were allright as far as I can remember.

Re: 'Poland's Asterix' Is Getting A Switch-Exclusive Game, Written By A Former CD Projekt RED Staffer

khululy

@John_Deacon I find that comparison to be really odd.
I see very little resemblance between the two.
Sure there may have been inspiration but Tintin is one of the grandfathers of European comics/graphic novels.
You have your spunky main character and cute pet with a digruntled friend and there is also a goofy professor type but outside of that the comparisons stop.
Spirou comics dive a lot more into the fantastical Tintin was usually more grounded in it's setting and story telling.
