Dream dad and Arcade Spirits have such terrible art styles. Mostly Arcade Spritis. I would rank Phoenix Wright a lot higher since it is one of the most fun and accesible visual novels even for people like me, who are not into visual novels.
It is not the greatest show in the world but for a videogame adaption of sidescrolling platform games we could've gotten a lost worse. I like it, the cursing is a bit much at times some of the sex scenes were a bit out of place imo.
@DrDaisy Yakuza money laundring. It's not closer to those game where you toss in a coin and it drops to the bottom where a sweeper goes back and forth hoping you get all the coins. You drop in a coin, select where the ball drops and hope you get lucky.
@nmanifold I'd throw Rayman Legends in there too. That is traditional platformers not metroidvenia-esque games. Games like Shantae and Ori are also really awesome in their platforming.
@Thatsalie Sure people feel bad for the laid off people but it also shows the way the industry operates, just devouring everything in it's path with no regard what games and franchises mean to the people buying them. And we feel sad that series that we cherish go away like this. Nothing last forever but dying of old age is better than being butchered.
I like Majora's mask but not love it. I only played the 3DS version which has a few...hickups but the vibe and setting are great and I like the way the 3DS version play and look overall compared to the N64. I love the N64 but it is hard to go back there sometimes.
@kobashi100 No, ending slavery after 1000's of years of slavery being accepted. Great Brittain spend more on stopping the slave trade then they ever made with it. One of the reasons France occupied the north African coast was to stop the Barbary slave trade which stole Europeans from their homes to sell as slaves in Arab countries. Slavery is almost as old as mankind and due to changes in thinking in Christianity, people in Europe decided it was forbidden to own other Christians, later other people this later translated into the trans atlantic slave trade to be abolished. In the Netherlands we have a race grifter who is from the Ashanti tribe from Ghana, he keeps talking about reperations for black people because of slavery yet it is known that his tribe became wealthy from slave trading well before the white man came. I am no scholar but thinking slavery, which goes on to this day in certain parts of the world, is Isolated to the trans atlantic slave trade and I know of no other 'race' than white people actively stopping it and policing it on a global scale.
@Purgatorium The industry? no. Gaming as a whole? It can be if you make something really good, like mine craft or counter strike etc. If you create something that people latch on to like crazy you can make it big.
@nessisonett idk, if people aren't interested, they aren't interested. Just saying 2% is far too low I raise you with a too low for what? Does every group need to be equally represented in every field? That is virtually impossible. This is no excuse for any hiring discrimination or not giving people a fair chance because of any superficial reason imaginable. What I am trying to say is that a whole thing is more complex and nuanced than buzz phrazes like "wypipo is racist" or "hire more black people and the problem is magically solved" as some people/outlets make it out to be.
@Solomon_Rambling Not American nor black but I've heard and read several annecdotes and stories of black kids being shunned bullied etc. within the black community now this happens with most nerdy types but if a minority of a minorty gets peer pressured into being ashamed of their interests, you are left with a very small group that dares to step out of the stigma. Personal I don't care if a purple tentacle (wait..) a GREEN tentacle made my game as long as it is good and I am interested in it then I might play it. Putting so much focus on race will get you in the limelight now but if that is all you gotta sell that interest will die down fast. Yozo Koshiro of streets of rage fame demanded his name on the title because he wanted it to be known he made the music because composers got very little credit back then, same with artists who did cover work for games, all dust in the wind.
I always found the low poly face a bit creepy. I voted Europe, the text takes the player a bit more serious plus sudoku is in the jaw area and the indicater hints at a text bubble now, which is a clever touch or nice accident ( any graphic designer worth it's salt would do such with intend I reckon).
as much as I enjoy skyrim I find 30€ still a bit too expensive for this game i'd consider it for 20-15, this game has made it's money back so many times it's time to stop selling it for full price.
@BoostPower I would not be too worried, Miscro$oft has made it clear to sell their games wherever they can, Both Ori games are owned by M$ as well and still released on switch in quite an amazing state.
@RupeeClock It's a bunch of legal spagetti really, I own several PC games with installers that only run on 32 bit machines, the games are not broken, I still own them but I cannot play them. It is illegal for me to download the same game from a torrent site that is, say, the GoG version of said game that is made to work and optimized for modern pc.
Spirit tracks is not CDi lvls bad, and it was a fun game, one of the best Zeldas? Not really but if this is a bad Zelda game then the bar is very high.
This game is interesting and tries something different than the gun toting hero. It's like when the people told Lanning that Abe should have a gun, but then abe would solve all problems with the gun! Same reason the kid in Heart of Darkness gets his gun taken, guns are an easy and somewhat lazy way of making an action game.
I will say this many more times, Resident Evil 5 is one of the most fun 3rd person shooters out there, sure it is very light on the survival horror but as a game in itself it is a great experience that is just as replayable as RE4 imo. I have yet to play RE7 revelations 2 and some other spinoffs.
@Penultimatewarrior Having played MGS recently I can say with confidence you have a full 360 range of movement.
Idk where you get the impression that Spyro doesn't have the same movement freedom as mario is beyond me but I have not played that game in a while.
But my point was more that MGS pioneered 3D inengine cinematics rather than prerendered scenes
@Penultimatewarrior Crash Bandicoot is a full fledged 3D game, I agree with the Saturn because it could not render proper polygons but the PSX was capable of that albeit software rendering. CB is also one of the earlier examples of level streaming as it only renders what the camera can see instead of loading a full level at once like most games did at the time. Even movement wise Crash can run around freely within the linear paths made for him but the design idea was basicly taking DKC and put the camera behind the character.
I never really gotten into this game when it came out, I began my interest in PC gaming at that time and with the coming of 3D accalerated graphics the possibilities seemed so much more interesting but the PC never got 3D platform games of this caliber back in the day. A while ago I started playing the unofficial! pc port of this game which runs like a marvel and while there is a lot of dated and archaïc game design it is still a wholesome experience that, together with the likes of Ocarina of time and Metal Gear Solid, pioneered 3D graphics and gameplay to the point where we are today.
It is good that there is still appreciation for what older games did and people who don't look at games as just their graphics and framerate.
@Kevember You can call them simps all you like but it is still true. But on the other hand now that the well ran dry for the market that missed the WiiU there needs to be something new. something fresh to make system remembered by. Even the Gameport Advance had fresh original games that defined the system.
The sfx sound a bit tinny but overal it looks like a fun romp, always skeptical these days but still looks interesting.
I like this moment to bring notice to the fun and well made TMNT brawler based on the 2007 CGI movie released on the GBA. That game gets often overlooked when it comes to TMNT games but it's a great game but sadly so overlooked by many.
@GamerDad66 The unit in itself wasn't a failure it was a lot better than the original but the games did not utilize all that power it was mostly noticable in the fact that it could emulate snes games and the general load times of the system itself such as booting and switching from game to home screen etc. Most devs didn't want to alienate the market from the established 3DS so they did not make new 3DS exclusives.
I honestly would love to see a new Phoenix Wright game or a sequel remake of Ghost trick or even an HD remake of the Miles investigation games. Why doesn't Capcom likes money.
@BloodNinja I think they are fine as they are on the DS but a good package of all 3 in 1 for a reasonable price would tempt me to purchase it for the switch
@Munchlax YOU ARE WRONG GET OF THE INTERNET!!! MY OPINION OF THE GAME IS THE ABSOLUTE TRUTH! I HOPE YOU STUB YOUR TINY TOE !!! But yea I disagree with you A link to the past is a special game for me personally, a lot of 16 bit era games are special to me. It's ok if people dislike it that doesn't change it's significance to me. But the combat is simplistic compared to later game and the entire concept has been perfected in it's many sequels.
@quinnyboy58 I feel a lot of original charm will be lost if those games were to be remade in modern HD 3D, DKC returns are great games and more DKC is always welcome but the original DKC series is something special as is.
My biggest complaint is, for 20 bucks they could've added a PC port of Lost Vikings 2 which has voice acting and CGI cutscenses, terribe dated 90's CGI cutscenes.
I am kinda disapointed in most of us here, including myself, we came together as people who enjoyed videogames but we let politics and differing perspectives get in the way of looking at what we have in common, our love for video games. I will now go home and be a family man.

Ghost Trick is one of the most original and best games on DS it is sad that it never saw a sequel.
