Re: Feature: "Unfinished Business" - Why Gilbert & Grossman Returned To Monkey Island

khululy

@bmumble I love the backgrounds but cannot stand the character design it's well drawn but badly designed.
I have a strong adversion for the 'discolored nose' art.
The somewhat deformed proportions also do not feel very Monkey Island to me, it was always somewhat cartoony/pulp cover inspired but this just feel like I am watching a cheap coorporate flash ad. from 2005 or something.
So yeah I have a real hard time with this game. the art is design is too off putting for me to the point that guybrush' nose is distracting me from every scene, and why is his head so big and why does everything animate so rubbery.

Re: Soapbox: Endless Zelda Remakes Are A Poor Substitute For Backwards Compatibility

khululy

@Pak-Man This and Quality of life evolves over time as well so certain gameplay ideas fall to the wayside.

The 3DS remakes are a good example, it is easier to port these games over to the switch than rerelease the N64 versions.

the HD ports are touched up and more compatible with modern hardware etc.

There is pros and cons for both argument and nintendo did do a decent effort with their handhelds to be atleast compatible with the previous generation.

Re: Video: Our Video Producer Showcases His Top Five Rarest Games

khululy

IDK how rare these games really are but my most notable games are.
Terranigma in English with box and manual
Secret of mana with box manual and map
Miles Edgeworth Investigation in English for DS
Pokémon Soul Silver for DS

Conker's Bad fur day for N64
For Wii I can only think of Sin and punishment succesor of the skies
For NGC : MGS Twin Snakes, Eternal Darkness and Killer 7 and the master quest disc of ocarina.

Re: Talking Point: What Was Your First Legend Of Zelda Game?

khululy

Being an 'old' guy, my first zelda game was Zelda II The Adventure of Link.
I was like 5-6 at the time and a classmate and friend of mine had it, the golden cartridge looked so pretty and impressive.
The title screen with the sword stuck in the stone looking out over the lands of Hyrule was such a evocative scene for 5 year old me in 1990-ish.
Then much later, trough the dreaded ways of emulation. when I was about 12 I came in contact with A link to the Past and Links Awakening as I never owned a SNES or GB.
And even Ocarina of time trough very primitive N64 emulation circa 1997-98. You needed a 3DFX card to run it and it was still horrible but the first time I saw a Hylian sunrise with the cock's crow, it gave me the chills.
Then when I was around 13 I bought my very own GBC with Links Awaking DX, my very first owned Zelda game and I loved it.
Since then I have managed to own all Zelda games save for the horrible CDi games, they don't count.

Re: Raunchy Rhythm Title 'Massage Freaks' Delayed Indefinitely After Online Backlash

khululy

@BloodNinja Odly enough I am disturbed by violence irl and sometimes in games too but somehow, and idk how I do it, I can understand that games.movies etc. are not real and thus I can partake in the enjoyment of said media.
I cannot understand, however, how people are disturbed by sex, they are far fewer than those who are by violence I assume.
unless it goes into the hardcore territory then I can get it.

Re: Witcher 3 Dev Admits He Overcrowded One Map With Too Many Points Of Interest

khululy

@nimnio I prefer playing Far cry games with the radar pointing everything out, track enemies etc. It makes the game a lot more fun to play because you don't play the radar.
Same goes for Metal Gear Solid, without radar you have to be more patient, observe the patters and learn what the general cone of vision is.
Some games have hint vision modes like Tomb raider, it's easy to ignore that or the option to turn off item highlights, some options make the game a bit more immersive if you are not guided every step of the way.

Re: Witcher 3 Dev Admits He Overcrowded One Map With Too Many Points Of Interest

khululy

@DiamondJim Depends on who you are asking, but you cannot blame Nintendo for trying something different with Zelda, they are not well versed in open world design like say, Rockstar or Ubisoft.
It's not the greatest open world game nor the greatest Zelda game but it is still a damn good game in many regards even though I hate a lot about it too.
Far from perfect bit still a great game.

Re: Feature: Resident Evil Netflix Review: Wesker Steals A Show That Lacks Bite

khululy

@SpiderPirate4 I pick option C) whatever that is.
It always has to be about race with you guys, I would've also complained if they casted a red headed man with a thick Irish accent or a black haired scrawny dude as Wesker.
There have been many times where I disagreed with casting choices be that they did not look the part or were just actors unsuitable for the role imo.
Like Ben Affleck as Batman or Arnold Schwarzenegger as Mr. Freeze.
I but now that it involves a black man it is racism all of the sudden... ok sure.

Re: Feature: Resident Evil Netflix Review: Wesker Steals A Show That Lacks Bite

khululy

@SpiderPirate4 Yes! Totally. you caught me red handed! Gosh you are so clever!
Or maybe just maybe it does not connect with me because it deviates from the source material too much and I don't like things because it has a certain brand attached to it I like the brand because it is of a certain quality.
And also ofcourse I only watch gone with the wind and the intro of American History X.

Re: Feature: Resident Evil Netflix Review: Wesker Steals A Show That Lacks Bite

khululy

It's seems like a cookie cutter modern netflix show.
Race swap some roles, shoe horn in some diversity.
Now I have no qualms with the skin color of actors but I do have issues with taking established characters and changing them for 'reasons'.
Feels like pandering to me.
(these are usually executive choices based on popularity metrics and focus groups don't go blaming this on the staff and cast)
I am going to pass on this show even though I do like me some Resident Evil.
No hard feelings or love lost on this one.

Re: Poll: What's The Best Mario Kart Game?

khululy

Super Circuit is a great Mario Kart, it looks and plays amazing and includes all the SNES tracks as a bonus.
When it came out is showed how much more powerful the GBA was compared to the SNES.

Re: Here's Your First Look At Netflix's New Castlevania Series

khululy

@Pat_trick I liked the designs, animation and art but the writing was too much of the level of "I'm 14 and I think this is deep/edgy."

All in all not the worst series one could get based on a video game so I am curious about this new series I hope it focuses more on character building rather than profanity.
(not a prude but this level of profanity is not part of Castlevani imo, titilation sure, I mean look at a lot of designs in the game but all the swearing an cursing and such, nah)

Re: Every Nintendo Switch Online SNES Game Ranked

khululy

@NotoriousWhiz Yeah, NSMB is a fine game but I enjoyed super mario 3D land on 3DS a lot more.
DKC returns on both Switch and 3DS are super fun to play and Tropical Freeze is up there with Rayman Legends when it comes to side scrollers imo.

Re: Every Nintendo Switch Online SNES Game Ranked

khululy

Donkey Kong country is more fun to me than SMW that is not to say that SMW is a bad game at all and DKC 2 only exists standing on DKC's shoulders.
So that makes DKC the best platform game on the SNES. LOZ: aLttP the second best game but since the best game. chrono trigger, is not on SNES online. I guess the 3rd place would
be Earthbound ?
