@scannerdarkly7 Maybe for the better the original has some parts I didn't care for but it being a show based on an NES game it is probably better than it should've been.
@nessisonett C'mon as a kid I used to finish the game in a bout 30-40 mins. I don't remember the hyena maze and the lava level is a pain but the rest is not that hard.
@Cynas Idk I feel Queer is more an expression of sorts, I mean if you have Lesbian, Gay, bi, pan, Asexual and whatever is hip on tiktok today what is queer supposed to be? and not all people who are aforementioned identify as queer. And when people say they are queer they tend to act and dress according to a certain standard atleast that is my vicarious experience never met a cis gay or trans etc. person that identified as queer in my personal life.
@Clarice No thanks. I want none of that.
It's fine to have certain relationships represented but it's grating to see meda acting as if all people in the LGBQT sphere have been bullied and herassed same for black people, not all of them experience racism on the regular. So to represent them as perpetual victims of a mean outside world doesn't do anyone justice.
As if all Gay men are flamboyant and queer, or all butch lesbians shave the side of their head etc. That's just as bad as making all black people gangbangers from the hood and have them listen to hiphop while smoking weed.
I want the representation to be subtle so people don't notice it instead of it screaming in your face "YOU LIKE THIS HERE GAY STUFF??? NO??? BIGGOT!!" That pushes people away and creates more aversion and broadens the margenalization because it feels forced and intrusive.
Respect and acceptance is a two way street, no one is an island. I hope you all have wonderful weekend. God speed!
Yakuza games have the best representation. Kiryu responds to a crossdressing ex biker gang leader that wanted out of that life so he could run a bar ran by transgenders and crossdressers "Your life is yours to live, you shouldn't have to justify it to anyone else." He also told a Yakuza boss who was into baby play that forced his entire gang into it. "Just because you are into something, don't assume everyone else is." Kiryu is based. be like Kiryu! (except the distruction of property but ey videogames gotta videogame.)
@CharlieGirl What is unique about being punched in the face because you are gay compared to being punched in the face because people dislike you for being different because you are ( what turned out to be autism but I went nearly 3 decades without knowing)
@BloodNinja I liked Arthur Morgan because he was a flawed human, scarred face, scarred personality but he tried to make it right where he could, within his power with his broken perspective of the world that changed faster than he did.
@CharlieGirl Maybe, who is to say the claims people made about me were valid and not just a way to put me in my place. You seem to assume that people calling me this was warranted but I might be wrong, autistic people are very bad at reading others so you have to forgive me.
@alpacatears It always feels like being queer is a choice, like being goth or punk. Yes one gravitates to the sub culture etc. specially when young but it's not inherent to ones personality or life perse but made a part by choice.
I will probably be told that I don't understand it and when I think some look goofy I am dubbed and ista-phobe of sorts as these tales always go.
And if "queer games" are not for people who don't like it, leave the "cis gendered hetero normative" games alone if they wanna wallow in macho men and busty ladies.
I want my DOA volleybal and Senran Kagura burst, and you can have your Bear Daddy Dreamboat.(if that's a thing)
And when the representation media doesn't sell well it's due to our society being to hetero normative full of incels etc.
Representation goes both ways.
Personally my problem with representation is that always feels and is pushed as a form of self insert or owning conservatives or 'cis incels' or whatever flavour of the month is populair on twitter.
True representation, not shoe horned gender, race or sexuality swaps of established characters, is a way to show people life trough the eyes of someone else so they can experience that vicariously.
I do not care if media has people that look or act like me.
I play games for a good story and or gameplay loop.
The subject always rubs me the wrong way because I do not care much about modern day interpretation of represenation it feels disingenuous and hamfisted.
And when I want to explain myself on the topic I word myself pourly because there is so much going on in my head that I want to say and I ahve been labeled a biggot and transphobe by several people before because I don't wanna kowtow to some modern day narrative of inclusivity.
I prefer to judge people personally not hold them to different standards because they are part of a protected group.
Also I played the first Life is strange and I think it is allright as far as adventure games go, that blue haired girl is a proper !@#$ though, save the town!
Never gave a hoover damn about any of the relationship stuff.
Here is the thing with emulating, I never had any nintendo consoles but played a few here and there at classmates' house and such, demo booths in toy stores etc. If it wasn't for emulating the games on my pc I would never discovered my love for certain series or games or even genres. Later in life I bought original copies of the games I enjoyed most and sometimes even bought the virtual console roms. I understand that making profit of off roms is a highly scummy practice but these games should not be lost to the whims of greed.
@Anti-Matter Nah the 8/16 bit thing was more of an example how oversaturated and uninspired indie games can be. Also a lot of Adult indie games, some even with subject matter modern AAA cannot get away with.
@Anti-Matter What is wrong with AAA games in general? I know there are a lot of stinkers bereft of any soul or passion but it's not always that way.
And plenty of Indie devs that are boring and uninspired, how many 8/16 bit rogue (like/lite) games do we need ya know.
Or fps survival games with crafting and stuff.
@AJB83 Well I only bought the game recently and did only play hotshots on arcade mode which is checkpoint based albeit in a closed circuit, like Virtua racing. I am also getting big Outrun 2 vibes (Why u no port that one SEGA idc about the licence)
So it's Hotshots racing with a bigger budget where the budget is spend on acid and shrooms, noted. Good for a sale, not a racing guy but arcade racers always work for me.
@Willax If you want to play a shooter unlike anything else I'd suggest the Shadow Warrior reboot games if oyu ahven't tried them already. Pretty fun stuff.
@carlos82 Duke Nukem Forever was a perfectly decent FPS to it's contemporary opposition. For a game with that title and such a history and it being the direct sequel to Duke Nukem 3D, a highly acclaimed shooter, it was kind of an anti climax. But people forget, between Duke Nukem 3D and Forever there have been a few quite mediocre Duke Nukem games. Except for the Balls of Steel Pinball table simply because, when you pick it, it starts up with: "Now I got time to play with myself!" as a reference to the Duke Nukem pinball machine with the same name that, on interacting, recieved the line: "I don't got time to play with myself!"
@AlienigenX That game is pretty dope, I played it myself when I had a mild fever, the kind where lying in bed gets you restless but doing anything else than gaming is out of the question. I tell you, that art and presention really came to life.
I don't play bad games! I have a weak spot for The Adventures of Bayou Billy that game is pretty damn bad. But it did something to me back in the day. I also find the original TMNT NES game to be charming.
I never delete a game, I just bought a bigger cart! Having Dragon's Dogma and Resident Evil 4 on the go is glorious. hell the whole switch lite is glorious!
@nessisonett I don't own a WiiU and never will with it being so expensive for a janky console. I am glad they re-released DKC tropical freeze on the switch cuz I totally love the DKC series. So yeah it is not all about you but I do agree there is no harm in making new games but porting over older titles or in this case WiiU titles may help fund those new games you want so badly.
Will never happen propably but the first 3 arkham games for switch. Deus ex human recolution will be insta buy for me. it is one of my favorite games to play
I think these things are nice collectors items I was thinking of buying the Mario one but this Zelda one is much more up my alley.
I own most, if not all, Zelda games (Oracle games not physical and not counting CDi) and all 3 Hyrule coffee table books, the ones in the red green and blue.
I think I will add this to my meager Zelda Collection as I love portable gaming systems and the Adventures of Link and Link's Awakening are very special games to me.
I really enjoy the toy soldier esque look of the units in this version, suits it very well. Not a big fan of the series or turn based strategy games but I played the 1st one till I hit a difficulty spike and never looked back but enjoyed the ride till it lasted.
@Spider-Kev Propably because the internal hardware was not considered adequate enough to emulate SNES rom to Nintendo's standards. Same way the normal 3DS did not get SNES roms but the NEW 3DS did.
@Andy_Witmyer Eh that is not true, sure it has more misses than hits but Sonic Generations is still imo the best Polygon based Sonic game to date, so past 10 years?
@sixrings I think Viacom has to make a call to Konami to release a little bundle game with the NES trilogy and the 2 arcade releases and the SNES and Megadrive game. Put a collection of commercials, toy and game ads, arcade marques and a video clip of the 'amazing?' Pizza power. and I would gladly pay 30 for that bundle.
Still have to finish the PC version with the good ending, I do hope they refine their formula in the next game because the first one was quite a great game.
If I would lump it in with the Igavanias I would def put it on par with portrait of ruin below the sorrow games, Order of Eclesia and Sotn.
(I also think Aria is an overall better experience than Sotn but without that game Aria would not exists)
