@Kermit1 Mostly because when technology makes a leap forward and then people try again because the prospect of experiencing fiction as real life is appealing.
From the stereoscope, the viewmaster, virtua boy or 3DS or occulus. it has all come and gone and we are getting closer and closer.
@BoilerBroJoe It is an inefficient feature for mobile platforms but it seems VR is still in a decent place for a gaming niche. I don't want to play all my games with a VR headset but it is nice to see VR once in a while.
@Paulo I have played it for a bit but it was bit confusing and bland, some nice idea but it really felt more like shovelware than a proper platinum game. It's not what you expect from both the tmnt franchise and Platinum.
@Neckcrane This personal relationship that people have with certain games is what makes gaming such a wonderful medium. So many people play the same game but have a different experience and context with it.
It's not about showing off hardware and blockbuster sales or having the newest tech or game to play. But some people never get this to them gaming is all about moving forward and being on top of the hype and to some degree streamers and such contributed to this 'trend'. I adore re-visiting old games some surpise me for I have not played them for so long, some are so ingrained in my brain that it feels like coming home. Some are just reminders of simpler times, atleast for me as a person, or I can look at them in a different light because of the headspace I was in at that time.
But to a lot of people who don't 'get' gaming it's just mindless staring at a screen, cursing at people on the other side of the line or something. My dad used to get annoyed at the blips and bleeps coming from the pc speaker as I played he never understoond me playing games and I never got him watching football(soccer for the yanks) But I guess in that we did found some mutual understanding.
@pneumaticgnosis Yes you are allowed to criticize but don't expect that to change anything. I bet Gilbert was taken aback by this response to him finally making a MI game since so many clamored for it over decades.
The backgrounds look a bit hit and miss I prefer more defined shapes and outlines but the faces look mostly quite lifeless so far.
@Ogbert The pocky and Rocky remaster is a great example of awesome pixel art, lots of detail, far more beyond the look of an 8 or 16 bit game. The new TMNT game is also a good example of how much detail you can cram into pizel art in this day and age. People call sonic mania a 16 bit game but it has colors and effects never possible on any 16 bit system not even the NeoGeo. As Tim Schafer stated in an interview about Full Throttle Remaster. The Artists who drew the backgrounds never thought to themselves: "you know what would look good on this drawing? a nice staircase!"
@jrt87 Why is he awful? (read the coments a bit better, sorry)
I mean he is not the most fun or interesting to watch, never been a fan, never hated him. He used to work for Sierra is all I know.
He does seem to have interest in gaming but I enjoy Gamesacks more when it comes to game content.
@CharlieGirl The price drop and the NEW-3DS(outside of it's naming) made the 3DS one of the best handheld systems ever. N3DS has virtual console, better 3D capability, better hardware and a better designed overall formfactor.
Sadly Nintendo has a habit of releasing the system that it should've been at launch few years into it's life.
Dracula in the Japanese version looks like his shower abruptly turned cold while he was having a relaxing rinse after a day of terrorizing the local Roma population.
I think the period from 1985-present is Nintendo's best. Their handheld game has always beenon point and while some of their console had a bit of a lukewarm public perception they always warmed the cockles of my heart.
This trend of over stylizing logos has to stop. On the other hand it reflects that most modern companies are a ghost or shell of what they used to be and represent, really well.
Look at a lot of comments thirsting over this fan art of Link. But when a female is portayed with big(ger) breast and less or more revealing clothing than the original. OOF.
Otherwise it looks good from a technical aspect but does not scream Legend of Zelda to me.
@Kochambra I personally like the 3rd entry a lot more than the 2nd and that is not just because of the cliffhanger ending. I hope monkey island 3 is canon but I can really live with 4 and Tales not being canon.
@spacely_sprockets I was also dissapointed with the 3DS at first but after the 1st year or so it began to pick up steam and became a really good system.
@Wexter I own an English copy of Terranigma it's a wonderfull game. Do I think it is better than Chrono Trigger? It's hard to really say Both games are something special in their own right. It's the best action RPG on the SNES for sure. It deserves it's place among the greats of the 16 bit era.

I feel they were going for a look closer to the original comics rather than the 87 cartoon.

Re: Negative Fan Reaction To 'Return To Monkey Island' Made Its Creator 'Sad'
@Ogbert lol
Well the staircase was more a pixelated line kinda of staircase rather than a nice clean one in the original art.
I just wanted to state that pixel art is far more interesting if you use it well rather than emulate 8/16 bit nostalgia.
