Yeah... that would apply if it was the same price as the other full priced games in Canada, just like what it is for the US, but it's not. Seriously, I wonder how people lack the understanding of that part.
As for the work part, you can just look at it really. it is mostly just a few tweets to controls and mechanics such as the camera, cleaned up graphics, amiibo support and gamepad function. The only real new thing they put into the game was the bonus dungeon which is nearly a copy paste of the 50th floors dungeon (I don't think this is 50 floors though) only you are Wolf Link strictly. Just like Wind Waker, this remaster of the game would have only taken a few months, keep in mind that Wind Waker was discounted where this one isn't.
In the end, the game costs way too for a remaster regardless of which region you are in. It amazes me how people cannot see that. It is like they don't see the difference compared to a game that takes several months to make and charged at full costs verses a game that is several years in the making and then at full cost. When you see that kind of practice, it should put up some flags.
you obviously have not seen some of the sales over in Europe. EU Gets some sales that blow NA's out of the water, NA get some sales that blow EU's out of the water.
I don't understand how a 5 minute history, logos and a new way to transfer pokemon you could already get is slick. This was overall, the first direct of the year and they decided to go with a 5 minute of mostly nothing when there is tons of other stuff to show and or advertise. Like, you saw logos... and concept art which shouldn't really be enough to get that excited over as you know nothing about it. Getting all hyped up now is just setting yourself up for disappointment. for a 20th anniversary anniversary announcement, they really dropped the ball on this.
@IceClimbers I love it, the entire direct was basically "hey, we're making a game," the end... and you justify why other info or stuff was not given because it can be given later... great logic there. Never mind to use it to also advertising up coming games. Yeah, no matter how much you worship Nintendo, it won't change this from being a failure.
"They didn't fail at all"... This direct was logos... that's all. Their opening direct for the year. it basically showed nothing unexpected as we all expected a new pokemon this year, new gen... sure but this game gave nothing other than is a new gen. That's pretty much all the meat to this. The VC thing... yeah great, another method to get all the gen one starters in your pokebank along with the countless other games to get those. Not that big. never mind the fact that Pokemon Go is releasing this year... with less knowledge than Zelda U, plus the soon release of Pokken. Those are some of the major ones they could have talked about but instead, we got a history lesson, logos and another method of Pokemon transfers. That's a failure.
Again, you fail to see that when they announce a direct, we expect something that is more than a 5 minute history video. They try to make this big and utterly failed so much, that a leak of two logo pretty much told you the direct. The Pokebank was the only thing not leaked. Also, many did not catch the video was five minutes until today when it was shown on the twitter page. Another thing, you are wrong to claim they said it would be 5 minutes in the original announcments.
Where is it shown to be 5 minutes in twitter? The only part I see the five minutes is from the [update] at the bottom of the page which many people could have missed since they could.would have read it before the update. Sure, they may have said something in the Japanese tweets but 98% of people in the Americas and Europe don't go there to check. Their Facebook page also says nothing for the length.
Overall, they failed with this direct... if you can even call it that, a Nintendo minute had more content than this. it was lacking in many things that are releasing this year which easily could have been covered, there is a lot of stuff that would have been done to make this something real. Honestly, you need to lay down your Nintendo white knight sword and open your eyes.
@IceClimbers for a 20th anniversary, we expected more than five minutes, even more so when there is other stuff related to pokemon supposedly releasing this year, plus the more unrelated fact that this was the first "direct" of the year... which was very underwhelming. This direct was a waste of time.
@TheDavyStar no, many people saw the direct was a waste of time. I even pointed out during it that this direct was shorter, nearly half the time of a Nintendo minute.
on a side note, I am growing a little concerned with pokemon GO. There should be something more about it by now and to make a whole "direct" and say nothing about it, worries me.
@AJRMARTIZ That's if there is a handheld part of the NX... which would overall be stupid. We all saw how PlayStation TV went and if they made it so games were compatible on both... it would be a system dead on arrival as many of the major 3rd parties would not even care due to the handheld portion being so limited. We'd end up with a system that is probably weaker than the Wii U. Either the NX is strictly a handheld which of course the home console of Nintendo would be officially dead or there is probably no handheld portion for the NX.
Not sure why people are thinking missingNo will go... as missingno. Did those people even play the games? Did they actually see what happened when you caught it? Missingno would often break stuff like your hall of fame and then eventually just turn into a pokemon like Ryhorn when you saved and quit the game.
@sillygostly No one is forcing you to use it so why does it matter? It is not like "Sum Ting Wong" over in Asia is going to affect you in any way.
@mjc0961
You don't really need to go out of your way, you do and you don't, the missingno, yes because you need to talk to the oldman however that little line you go up and down will show pokemon from the last area you were so it makes the safari zone so much easier
I really just hope Nintendo has learned from this generation. I also really cannot see more Wii U's being sold this year than last year considering how there are a lot less "heavy hitters" coming this year. The only real big one is (or at least should be) Zelda.
@RoomB31 well, what I find even more strange, is when games went to $69.99, the dollar was less than it is now. Now they bumped the price up another $5 with a higher dollar
@rjejr ha ha, I'll be fine paying $70-$80 CAD for Zelda U (or NX), even $100 for a special one. It is more just remakes/ games that seem little content that strikes me.
Well, after thinking long and hard, I've decided to cancel my pre-order and then just get the amiibo seperatly when it is available. If I really want to play this game on the Wii U, I'll load my Wii disc. It is not really like I am missing much and at full price, it's too much. Nintendo's pricing has been very shotty lately.
@rjejr They are too busy making remakes to compensate for the delays to port it to the NX for a multiplat WiiU/NX release
The only way Nintendo is getting more money from me on Hyrule warriors is if they put the DLC on the Wii U. Then it all comes down to price as well. It would be a kick in the teeth if they priced it high when a game at a lower price has all the content.
@Damo
Is it really ok to say there are 50 million 3DS owners? With only 50 million consoles sold, I personally own 3 of them, a friend of mine owns 2 and another owns 3 as well so it is not 1 console per person. Plus, a lot of the New 3DS sales would also be people who upgraded. I wouldn't be surprised if that number was really only half to 2/3rds.
An entire team for one function... I find that hard to believe. At most, I could see 1-2 people for the coding and then another for testing. That's all.
It's going to be hard for me to justify the prices. Yeah, people can go ahead and say "Oh, but the physical is $20," well, I am sorry, VC titles are not collectors items.
@bobbypaycheque I am sorry Bobby but you can say the rest of the industry has changed my view point on remaster/remakes being charged a full price, also, if you haven't been looking to the prices in Canada, it is $80 when a full retail game is $65-$70. No price has been given for just the standard game without the amiibo here. The UK it is also 60GBP but overall, when 95% of remakes are not full retail price in the overall industry, then Nintendo comes and makes this with visual enhancements and amiibo support, I'm sorry but it doesn't warrant this price tag. The only time I can see a remake warranting a full retail price tag is if they actually did some real work and by real work. Not just some touch ups here and there.
Yet, here I bought Hyrule Warriors for half the cost of it new, plus many other games. This is not something that is rare either. Maybe if you think that EB Games is the only place to get used games, but you can get them much, much cheaper and since Nintendo is super slow with their rewards program, a lot of the incentive to buy new is gone.
I am thinking about cancelling my pre-order and buying the amiibo separately, wait 6+ months and buy this game used for a lot cheaper. A remake shouldn't be released as a full retail priced game. Overall, there really isn't enough in this to warrant that price tag.
I will never be excited for this. What will get me excited is if the new content from the 3DS is going to the Wii U as well (even if as paid DLC). Other than that, nothing will convince me to buy this game.

Hopefully their second direct of the year is more than 6 minutes and has real info and not just logos and them saying they are making games.

so many double posts... lol
Though in the end, mobile gaming could be good for them but hopefully it will never be strictly that. You can get some quality games on phones now.
