@SLIGEACH_EIRE Nicalis had a good amount of new games coming like Redout (EDIT: Forget redout came out already so Blade Strangers is a better example) and Ittle Dew 2. Way I see it these ports are fine as long as the new games arent getting pushed back because of them.
Nice interview gave some clarity into the game. Gamexplain also had an interview and suda revealed that after this smaller title he doesnt want Travis to fade into obscurity. So he plans on making a proper third installment. Excited to see what comes of the franchise.
Ive played this one a bit and dont think its bad, but the fact that theres a couple better puzzle games (Puyo Puyo Tetris, World of Goo), and even a better match three one (Ironcast) its a hard sell. Still would recommend it if you want a puzzle game but dont like the rougeness of Ironcast or the high price of Puyo Puyo.
All pretty interesting games. I wish I had money and time to play all them. Steamworld Dig 2 being the main exception and possibly Hollow Knight. Sucks that Samus Returns is coming out next month stealing my time! (Hint no it doesn't suck)
I had heard that the D-pad felt spongy, maybe the reviewer wasn't used to rolling pads.
Im sure the controller is fine but the wired nature is not something I can get over. People walk over my wires all the time including my pets. Also I prefer playing on the portable switch with the pro controller so i'm content.
"Better than another game solely revolved around Eggman, although hes probably the one who brought Infinite to them. Judging by the first scene and the technological vibe I'm getting from him I have a good feeling he's from the future and following Generations Eggman, either in the void or after escaping, encountered him. Just a guess though."
@Xyphon22 I remember once my friend asked me if I could identify the arcade game he played as a child as it had been a long time and he forgot. All he remembered was that is was a top down game about killing monsters, took me a while to get it from that description haha.
When I told it to him he seemed so happy. For the next hour we talked about how good the game was. I have bought it for (almost) every platform available
@Shiryu Wish but I have no doubt its a new IP, I remember the Retro developers saying back then that their next project wasn't going to be an old property but a new one. Of course its been years so who knows if that project was scrapped to make way for F-Zero lol
Yep, Nintendo Switch is a highlight of what fun means. It not a multimedia device, its a games console. Sure it can't play a Blu-ray or even a DVD but it's alright. Fun is something to be brought back to the living room. The Switch accomplishes this but goes even further. It makes fun return to pals homes, your bedroom, public transportation, and even your bathroom.
Is it a port machine? For right now yes it is. But it is the best damn port machine I have ever rested my eyes upon. Can't wait till more games come out. It is then when I can recommend it for every and any one. But for now I shall enjoy myself. Thank you Switch.
Oh man the sales actually might be good. I'm expecting 4 million lifetime now compared to my earlier 3.5 million speculation. Still expect Splatoon 2 to sell better though!
Alright nice, those "adult reasons" they have mentioned before are in the favor of Nintendo probably because of the direct. Wouldn't be surprised if Sony still had timed exclusivity but then again does time exclusivity affect my western mind.
"The announcement of Metroid: Samus Returns caused quite a stir at E3, and goes some way to explaining why Nintendo was so heavy-handed with a promising fan-made Metroid tribute a short time ago."
Still doesn't explain Pokemon Uranium, No Mario's sky, and a few others I can't remember at this point. Happy for the new Metroid game but I can't forgive their actions.
I'm not sure if this article is very insightful, after all Nintendo was already consistently increasing in share value. Technically you could make an article like this every hour "Reggie's Sneeze Bring New Peaks In Nintendos Stocks."
I actually asked my father how did he think about the stock rise (as he's a stock broker) and said all his coworkers bought stock. It wasn't because of E3 however but because of the increasing commercial space in America at least. In Japan the stock value probably did rise from E3 but not from Metroid for sure.
Love it, wanted to see some gameplay first before I commented so thanks treehouse. Honestly even if Nintendo hasn't officially "won" E3 they did at least to me. But then again I am a huge Kirby fan!
I already bought Shantae for Wii U and really dont want to buy it again especially if im not getting the DLC free for EITHER unlike the donators. I want to double dip but I just can't especially not in the state of income I am in :/
Good to hear, after the game had settled so many people tried to nitpick it. Just because it didnt feel like a "Zelda" game. I understand a person not having incredible praise but the complaints sometimes got really petty. Just because they thought it didnt deserve a ten outta ten :/
Ninjara is simple and easy to use, while twintelle is the second hardest imo but of course that's not why they played her. I like the entire cast so far, but I gotta say even though I love Master Mummy losing as him is the most frustrating thing.
@Moon Good that you tried it out, but trust me when I say you wont be outmatched by motion controls.
Of about 6 testpunches I had went back and forth with button and motion. By the end my last button session I had 109 credits and for motion I had 103.
Even online I saw some reddit posts that proved the advantage of moving for button through tests. While I havent seen any proving advantage for motion (although turning individual punches is probably the most blatant).
@Moon Button controls worked great for me, most people either went into the motion control camp or the button controls. I can say button is a very responsive scheme.
Advantage wise button is better for movement as you can stop on a dime but is worse at turning your punches compared to motion controls.
Off topic but I feel like the next smash is going to have Callie and Marie as characters as well as the inkling boy/girl. They could use music as their attacks, kick with their boots, etc. I think it could be an interesting character.
Cave story may be expensive but co-op is something I would pay premium price for. Arms is on the list and so is Splatoon 2 with Redout and Fate/extella being a maybe.
Also why is Sonic mania here? Wouldn't that not be june july anymore? Might as well include Monster Hunter XX then!
Its nice to think about but hard to imagine, also good on him for being humble and understanding that it could still be greeted with lukewarm reception (even though I doubt it)
@Nintendoforlife Yeah but I meant in long term. Nintendo has abandoned it's ds wifi service and while it's understandable the effects made certain games (like metroid prime hunters) dead and irretrievable. Microsoft did the same thing with halo 1 and 2 on the original xbox but at least over there it was easier to get around.
Nintendo could succeed in online services but I can also see a timeline where everything goes wrong.
That design on the back <3 beautiful. I'm not a fan of monster hunter solely because I prefer console experiences and have no friends who have the game. At home I like the idea of solo grinding and going to a friends house to work together over the harder challenges.
Not to say the game is bad (it really isn't according to my multiple hundred hours on ultimate) its just the handheld held it back in my opinion. Will try and return to the series with this new game and I hope it gets me into the series finally.
@BensonUii So far what I've played is exactly what you said about Splatoon, it adds fun new twists. Sure the actual battling is fairly standard on buttons but it feels so different in motion.
The idea of combination of Arms allows the game to have more depth and multiple game modes keep the pace going. This is similar to splatoon while the other gamemodes are fun in ranked while the enjoyability of Turf war cant be beaten.
In general I still think its too early to say, but as a person who believed in this game since the very beginning I see something grand to add to the switch's library.
@Nintendoforlife "same reach" this game has so many unintentional puns haha
Longevity is padded by free dlc, but can also possibly be completely destroyed by paid online. We will have to wait and see, but i have a feeling it will be the Halo 2 of the switch
All good stuff, hope everyone at Nintendolife is enjoying their copy (I say with a little bit of jealousy)!
The characters are designed so well, the gameplay is fun, theres a ranked mode, and has free dlc. Its honestly such a good combination and will hopefully continue being regarded as a game that blew expectations.
That blue d-pad looks really janky compared to the sleek black color. Why didn't they put it on a blue joy con?
I understand why people would do this but the scuff marks, the texture, and the shape just looks so awful. Nintendo has got to make a joy con with a dpad, or else 8bitdo controllers will become the new standard (I would say pro controller but I'm not rich).
