Oceanhorn: Monster of Uncharted Seas will arrive on the Nintendo Switch on June 22nd, publisher FDG Entertainment has confirmed.
Originally a smartphone title, this version of Oceanhorn will be based on the remastered PC edition and will boast updated graphics. It will run at 1080p, 60fps in TV Mode and 720p, 60fps in portable mode. It's being described by the publisher as "the most beautiful and best version" and as you can see in the footage above, there's little room for doubt on that score.
Will you be handing over some of your shiny gold coins for this Zelda-like adventure?

Nice, will be buying this one, havent played it yet.
Day one buy for me. Any price attached yet?
The game was pretty eh on PS4, not sure if I'll double dip. Nobuo music though... <3
Wow!!
I am still over the fence... not sure if it is worth. Better wait for the NL review.
It looks like a good single player experience, need more of that.
The reviews for other platforms are just okay and the game is around 10 hours long so I'll reel it in at launch if it costs no more than £12. It's all about a game's value for me.
Edit: Looking at the PS and Xbox stores it costs £11.99 so if it costs the same on the Switch I will be diving in on day 1.
I was going to get the Vita version, but I would rather support the Switch.
That looks like a great game. I was so sorry when they cancelled the Wii U version. Its resolution and fps sound impressive for Switch. It's definitely a game I'll buy when I eventually get a Switch.
It does look nice, I'd like to play it some time, for sure. Has anyone played it on other platforms? I don't like to be critical, especially having just watched a few trailers, but I am wondering if the developers had any of their own gameplay ideas that perhaps weren't in the trailer?
I really really wanted to love this game, but in the end I became very bored. The combat / puzzles / story are Zelda-like, and that's fine if you don't have a 3DS... but next to A Link Between Worlds... there's no competition.
"You don't find great games like this on smartphones!"
eh.
Well, if this doesn't remind me of Phantom Hourglass I don't know what would. Day One buy if this doesn't include time limited dungeons.
If I wanted to play a poor Zelda game with sailing I'd rebuy Wind Waker, pass for me
Oooh, been waiting for this one. Takes the sting off the Gonner delay a bit.
@idtgatt this is how I feel about most games when compared to a Zelda game.
Played it on ps4 it's pretty decent. If you guys are unsure it's free to play on Android devices and I'm sure iOS as well so give it a shot to see if it clicks for you
Played this on Android and enjoyed it a lot. Looking forward to playing this on the Switch.
@redd214 PS4 version also has a demo. I wonder if Switch will have one, too.
@Kiz3000 If it costs £11.99 on the other stores, you can guarantee it will £19.99 here due to the Switch tax
Yay... !
looks nice wait to see the price
Btw, this game is deserved for Physical release. Too good to be digital download only...
I played it on iOS some years ago and wasn't impressed. It had a lot of rough edges and from the looks of it, it's mostly the same on the Switch.
I'll try a demo first.
Slap a fair sub $15 price on this and I'd be keen.
Definite buy/ try for me .Looks like a quality game.
Looks great. There are hidden gems in smartphone games and this is one of them (s). You can get this for £7.99 on the App Store.
I hope they don't charge switch owners anymore than £15 and the footage from the video is the same video for the iOS app game
This game was boring as heck on mobile so what have they changed for the switch?
@MagnaRoader nothing just updated graphics
@Anti-Matter yea mobile games look great😉
I have it on PC on Steam and I could just buy it on my Nvidia Shield for free for on-the-go. So no point in getting, on the Switch there is Zelda. This game sells well because it's for those people who want Zelda but won't buy any Nintendo Systems, don't think this will do well.
I got almost all chievos on Xbox and really enjoyed it.
I will be picking this up, looks to be a great game. The type of game perfect for the switch.
Brilliant, can't wait for this game, shame it doesn't have a physical release
I played this a fair bit on iOS, and to be frank, it's rubbish. At a glance it looks pleasant enough, if incredibly repetitive, but there's so little to the game itself that it quickly becomes boring. You pretty much just drop boxes on switches and fight the same couple of enemies for the entire game. It's incredibly dull.
This is far, far worse than any Zelda game ever made (well, except the CDI version). It's at best a 3/10 game. I wanted to like it, and gave it a really good shot, but it's simply a bad game. Do yourself a favour and steer well clear. This is a stinker.
I like what I see, except that the character seems over-sized compared to the terrain.
It looks like it'll be $14.99 if you're to believe this site: http://www.pocketgamer.co.uk/r/Switch/Oceanhorn/news.asp?c=74263
I visit them all the time so they're probably right. I'll be down at that price.
I own all the Zelda games and this looks appealing to me. I'll wait for some reviews though.
Will wait for reviews for this one, but still, very interested! Not sure how I feel about the reviews it's gotten on other platforms, however.
A lot of people are claiming the game to be boring, which it sort of appears that way by the trailer. Maybe eventually I'll get it since Cave Story comes out around the same time
Played it on Xbox One. It was a good Zelda clone. I certainly enjoyed my time with it. Just don't expect anything groundbreaking. Keep your expectations in check and you'll be fine.
This remind anyone else of Landstalker on the Genesis? Isometric platforming, mild puzzles, combat...
Had a hard time getting into it on iPad
Day one for me as well !
As the IOS release I bought was almost unplayable due to the lack of a real joystick !
Soo much yes!
I regret buying the Vita version (didn't think the Switch version would be out so soon) because soon after I bought it I found out the Switch version was coming soon, I might double dip though since I'd rather have it on the Switch.
It was an OK game, i got about halfway through it before getting bored. It's not the best zelda-esque title, but far from the worst too.
@BinaryFragger I'd put it at $20-$25 for the switch, because it's a "new" platform and you're essentially getting "two games in one" which most people who own a switch seem ok with paying a premium for.
Got to admit I'm interested in this.
It looks very, very nice. I hope it's $14.99 like on Steam.
@RedMageLanakyn essentially two games in one?
@luke88 Some people on here have stated that they're OK paying a premium on switch games, because you get to play the game on the go, and you can dock it, so to them, it's like getting a handheld and console game in one package. I can't say I fully agree with that, but if it helps people justify their purchases, more power to them.
This is about as close to a traditional top-down Zelda as we're gonna get on the Switch folks. It's actually not a bad little game. Worth $15 to $20 for sure.
Looks fabulous!! I'm sorry games like this should have a retail option!! 😐
I started playing this on my Galaxy and quit as soon as I learned it was coming to Nintendo Switch, the creator of it is a huge Zelda fan and this is his love letter to the Zelda franchise I liked what little of it I played on android seems like a great title for the Switch e-shop I will be downloading it day one .
For people who haven't played this game, it tries REALLY hard to be a Zelda game, but lacks any sense of adventure, heart, charm, or personality. It ends up just feeling like a kind of bland Wind Waker knock off. I wouldn't waste my money if I were you.
@RedMageLanakyn ah I see, yes I did think that was what you meant
@idtgatt Same here. I played it on iPad when it came out, and found it ultimately too boring to finish. The graphics and music were impressive, especially for a mobile game, but the gameplay was tedious. The puzzles were very repetitive and simple, combat was boring with imprecise controls, characters lacked charm. I'm guessing the combat had to be pretty simplified compared to Zelda games to make it accessible with touch controls. Overall it struck me as a poor man's Zelda game.
Yep will purchase. I love when developers bring great games that you can't tell they put hard work into. These are the type of devs I want working on Switch games.
I hope this plays like Landstalkers on the old Megadrive
So is this download only?
I was holding out for an answer on that before I picked it up on Switch or GoG.com where I get a DRM free keeper.
Yes! Been waiting on this one for a while. It looks so fun and it's gorgeous. Firm release dates for alot of games are about to be announced. I love E3.
Might give this game a try eventually. But I'm already pretty booked up for the summer for gaming. Got ARMS coming up at that same time plus Ever Oasis is coming out around then too. Then there's Splatoon 2 the following month which will totally take over my life and I still have to find time to find the remaining 300 Korok Seeds I have, & Rime on the Switch is also supposed to arrive at some point this summer. Oh man, I will definitely need to start brining my Switch to work. LOL

Getting some CDI vibes here... YOU KILLED ME!
Not into the book! It BUUUURRRNS
2:43 The music doesn't even play! What?
Titles like Oceanhorn are why informed gamers just laugh when people say there are no good games on mobile devices. Loved this on my iPad, and I'll love it again on the Switch.
I'm buying this one as well. Seriously the Switch is killing my wallet. #SwitchMasterRace
I'd rather play windwaker
I could of picked this up on iOS...obviously didn't, I could of picked this up on PC...nope. The same could be said about PS4, Vita or XB1. No, I waited for the Switch version.
It's already out on vita digitally, but it's getting a physical release in July from Limited Run Games, no doubt the switch version will also get a physical release eventually or maybe not
@WiiHawk I'm an informed mobile gamer, but when I see Oceanhorn touted as evidence of there being good games on mobile, I have the opposite reaction. By the standards of any other platform Oceanhorn is mediocre, yet mobile review sites fawned all over it when it came out. To me this illustrates why mobile gaming isn't taken so seriously by a lot of gamers.
To be fair, I think there are a lot of great games available on iOS (I've never owned an Android device so can't speak to that) that I'd point to if I wanted to defend mobile to a console or PC gamer. I just wouldn't use Oceanhorn for that purpose.
Anybody got a price on this? I want to get it but if they run this price up too I'm gonna blow a gasket. I'm thinking they try and price it at 39.99
@bilboa Mediocre? I'd argue that's a harsh assessment of Oceanhorn. There may have been some fawning from mobile gamers, but even the PC sites have given it pretty solid reviews.
It's wasn't my favorite game to play on iOS, but I've found it effective as an example to those who think mobile gaming is nothing more than swiping gems around and launching pigs at stuff.
Not sure on this one. Might get it on Vita, because I don't have many games on Vita compared to other consoles.
@wazlon
Do yourself a favour and get SALT & SANCTUARY on vita, it's basically a 2d version of Dark Souls
@WiiHawk I'll agree "mediocre" is subjective, and obviously not everyone agrees. I'll just point out that if you look on Metacritic the average review score for Oceanhorn on non-mobile platforms is in high 60s to low 70s, and that goes for both critic and user scores. I'd say that counts as mediocre. Remember "mediocre" doesn't mean terrible, it just means "moderate quality", i.e. nothing special, and that's the way I meant it. To me, the fact that a game which is considered by most to be just OK on other platforms, is considered great on mobile platforms, demonstrates that the quality bar is much lower for mobile games.
How can this be the best looking version if it's been out on PC?
@RedMageLanakyn
I wouldn't say people are ok with it. But sometimes costing $10 more isn't enough to thwart the value offered by Switch games. In fact, I'd say that's often the case.
For example, I don't like it, but at the end of the day a decision has to be made on whether it's worth it or not, and frankly speaking it usually is. Now, if it's a mediocre game or something someone isn't too excited for, maybe it's not. I bought Rime, I bought Puyo Puyo, I bought Ultra Street Fighter II... but won't be getting Telltale Minecraft or Axiom Verge. Not until a price drop.
So I would say don't confuse people being OK with it with people weighing it and still finding it to be worth buying.
@WiiHawk I do agree though that this definitely counts as a "real" game, as opposed to something like Candy Crush. Also, the visuals and audio are very good, and I think you'd have to play it for an hour at least to start to see its weak points. So I agree it's a good demo game of the potential of mobile devices.
If I were going to recommend some games which might convince console or PC gamers to take mobile as a serious alternative to portable consoles, I might recommend some console ports like Dust: An Elysian Tale, Bastion, XCOM, Baldur's Gate, Geometry Wars, or one of the many great turn based strategy games or RPGs like anything from Slytherine, Warhammer Quest, lots of great roguelikes, etc. There are lots of mobile games which don't seem compromised by virtual controls, and aren't poor imitations of some other game, that I think would stand up to scrutiny for more than an hour.
@JaxonH Well, that's kinda what I was getting at, that people who see the value in the games that are worth it are "ok" with paying a little extra for the added conveniences that come with being on the switch. Obviously it doesn't apply to everyone, or every game, because everyone's game choices and what they're worth are different.
I wonder though, how long it will take for say, ports of older games/remasters to get on parity with other consoles? We all know Skyrim will be fully priced, even though it's a 5 year old game, i wonder when that "new console" premium will drop off?
The new Wind Waker update looks pretty bad.
Not played this game, sooo glad it is coming to the switch. I love these kind of games and the Switch in my opinion needs these games. Summer is looking good.
@tonyp1987 14.99 the game is 4.99 for iOS and 7.99 for Android. I was going to buy day 1 but will probably wait for a sale if they ever have any.
