Re: Soapbox: Splatoon 3's 'Grand Festival' Was The Perfect Goodbye

ieatdragonz

Splatoon is the only "live service" game I've ever gotten behind, because every update felt like an addition of love and care rather than necessity and corporate deadlines.

It proved it all the way back during the 2.0 update of Splatoon 2 and they've continued proving themselves right all the way to now. Splatoon 3 will wrap up soon, but the next game is just over the horizon.

Re: Life Is Strange Remastered Collection Delayed To 2022

ieatdragonz

Jeez there's a lot of vitriol in this comment section huh? Idk about the package itself as an experience as I haven't played it myself, but in response to delay?

Ngl though, if you comb E3 coverage like I do, this was pretty obvious from the getgo. On the other consoles they definitively said September, with Switch they tentatively said releasing alongside the third installment. Very easy to spot the difference in standing imo

Re: Fans Left "Disappointed" At Developer Atooi's Attitude Towards Chicken Wiggle Switch Kickstarter

ieatdragonz

Honestly, they aren't wrong. It's like if you are so dedicated to the craft why are you not crafting? That's the main reason I worry when involving myself with anything close to kickstarter.

And then Watsham basically breathes down the neck of anything involving him in news, making it feel awkward to even say anything. It doesn't say anything about his character or the type of person but like... just go work and let your games speak for themselves you know? Or at least let others speak without you in the audience.

Re: Nintendo's Market Value Drops By $1 Billion After Animal Crossing Switch Delay

ieatdragonz

I want to make a disgusted face through an emoticon, but I can't make any that expressive. Not only does Nintendo have a year and a half to go before needing to worry about those next gen consoles, online cloud based systems? In a portable console? Ruining the whole appeal of the portability in the first place? For a company being run in a country filled with handheld lovers?

If it is solely Animal Crossing, investors are so damn short sighted they must be blind. Holiday season = Pokemon, Luigi's Mansion. YOU DON'T NEED A THIRD GAME.

Re: Random: Bowser Nailed His First Appearance As Nintendo Of America's President

ieatdragonz

Nah. I don't want to rag on the guy, but if you were to rewatch, he didn't do much in terms of speaking or comedy. He only had one joke and it was the obvious one.

Plus, though it wasn't the worst, he had a slight stutter in the pre-recorded video. Of course it wasn't bad (they would just do another take) and it wasn't super serious, but its something to mention. Especially so since the immediate follow up to the direct (the pass over to the treehouse initial stage) had a pretty bad stutter at the end.

I won't judge character, but I think he needs some more PR training. More infliction in his voice and preventing said stutters. He'll improve with time, so I'm looking forward to it.

Re: id Software Has "No Plans" For Rage 2 On The Nintendo Switch Right Now

ieatdragonz

Honestly, that's understandable. I would always love for more games, but Bethesda hasn't been petering out on us unlike some other developers. With Young Blood's surprise announcement, you could expect more, just that Rage 2 isn't one of them.

Although, I do want a port of DOOM BFG edition. Doom 3 isn't the best game, but why not have it along with Doom and Doom 2 to have every single Doom on the Switch? (Doom 64 anyone?)

Re: Rumour: PlatinumGames' Scalebound Is Being Revived As a Nintendo Switch Exclusive

ieatdragonz

Oh no way! That cancellation was absolutely brutal, I was incredibly sad to even the degree where I never bought a xbox one. If it were to come to Switch instead... I would say that Platinum is my favorite developer outside of Nintendo.

Though this is great, I still kinda hope that last rumor about a cancelled game is still true but for another project. Mainly because Metroid Dread I needs it.

Re: Here's A Look At The Fire Emblem: Three Houses Limited Edition

ieatdragonz

@Ogbert I didn't even consoder that. If it started in July, that would basically be a school calendar.

Not sure why I'm complaining about usability though. Out of the three special editions Ive bought for the Switch (Zelda, Xenoblade2, & Fire Emblem Warriors), the only thing Ive used is the shiekah slate case.

What I really need is a Fire Emblem stress ball. These games make me so anxious 😓

Re: Here's A Look At The Fire Emblem: Three Houses Limited Edition

ieatdragonz

I don't particularly like special editions. Its a bunch of plastic tat that takes up space. However... the marketing always makes me compelled to buy them. And yet, I can never get the ones I want (damn you Samus Returns European edition!)

Although, why would anyone actually use this calendar? It looks small and dark.

Re: Feature: The Big Nintendo Direct Summary - 13th February

ieatdragonz

@dimi Still waiting for the Persona event in March. Ngl, if they announced Persona 5 here, though it's such a good game, it would be eaten up by the sheer number of RPG's haha

A perfect world would be Dragon Quest XII in September, Persona 5 in November, and Shin Megami Tensei V in January or February. That way, they don't steal the limelight from each other (and also gives me time to actually finish them)

Also, Persona 4 Golden would be the best surprise announcement for May. I NEED IT

Re: Feature: The Big Nintendo Direct Summary - 13th February

ieatdragonz

My socks did not need to be blown off, I already thought this year was great before the direct. BUT holy crap did they really fill out the first half! Summer 2019 with Mario Maker 2 AND Fire Emblem is incredible, and we are also getting Bloodstained and senuas Sacrifice.

I can't even lie, if you are dissappointed, you are hard to please. The only games they could've filled the first half of the year with is more ports. Kingdom Hearts and Prime Trilogy made zero sense to release so soon.

Although, I definitely wouldve liked to see SNES games online, but Tetris 99 is at least a little better of an incentive.

Re: UK Charts: New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe Loses Out As Resident Evil 2 Takes The Crown

ieatdragonz

@Paraka I still disagree. A game like ARMS was not particularly funded by Mario Kart 8, but the team (and most definitely Nintendo) decided that porting Mario Kart 8 would be the first priority. It allowed them to get used to the hardware.

Now, compare that to Metroid. Other M was an outsourced team. Federation Force was Next Level. Samus Returns was an outsourced team. There is no growth of developers there and each game should not influence the next, especially when two of those weren't very good and would only hurt interest, not garner it.

Back to Mario U Deluxe. Nintendo EPD (though they never completely specified) was likely the brunt of the development force, which already made a brand new game for the platform, Super Mario Odyssey. And they developed Sushi Striker and Arms and Labo along with BOTW. There's too many factors to see if the capital actually helps out greenlight new projects. In the most likely scenario, it just helps give more capital to the company as a whole, so I guess it could factor in if you went through about ninety hoops.

If I am being fair, I do like your argument if it was a branch like Nintendo Software Technology. They ported Captain Toad to the Switch, which helps them get used to the technology, and gives them more credence to develop other titles. Maybe they'll finally make something that isn't Mario VS Donkey Kong lol

In the end, yes, I as a consumer am not forced to do anything. But I still want my purchasing decision to be solely the quality of the game. Everything besides that I'd rather not even be addressed as it should only be company knowledge, not PR.

Re: UK Charts: New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe Loses Out As Resident Evil 2 Takes The Crown

ieatdragonz

@Paraka Except there's two clauses to that arguement. One: Game developers often don't tell you if you are funding for another game, with zero clarity you will never know. Pikmin 4 could easily be funded by this game, but what if they weren't funding it off this port and instead using Hey Pikmin as their actual gauge?

The second. Even if you do know what the money is going to, it often feels like a strong arm. Like how Travis Strikes Back is supposedly going to fund NMH future projects. Whether they enjoy the game or not plays no mind into it.

Even worse, with the second option, the promises are empty. If Samus Returns sells well, we will be funding more Metroid games! An eagle-eyed consumer will realize that "well" can mean literally anything. Sure, the two examples I use are brand new games, but it applies to ports just as well. "If Xenoverse 2 sells, we will consider FighterZ for Switch" even though the two have no connection except in brand.

That's probably the closest comparison to Kickstarters. A whole lot of empty promises with a few true to form examples.

Re: UK Charts: New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe Loses Out As Resident Evil 2 Takes The Crown

ieatdragonz

@electrolite77 Fair enough. Sometimes I feel as if game developers are sticking to the past a bit much, so it makes me happy when rereleases lead to new content (see Mega Man 11).

Collections are definitely my prefered rereleases. Legacy content is nice, but if am only allowed to play one of the games (see Dark Souls Remastered), it illustrates a lack of extra effort. It doesnt allow new gamers much of anything except an easy way to gift money to the company.

This is where my dislike of NSMBUD stems from anyways. It' technically two games, but I'd rather waste my money on something with more effort and content.

Re: Get A Surprise Switch Game In The Latest Limited Run Promotion

ieatdragonz

I honestly kinda like this, though I can see why people are going against it. Just a bit of spice of the unknown. I mean, it will give me an excuse to actually play these games, because recently for indies, I've only been buying the best of the best not giving a shot to the lesser known quantities. I guess it's just the demon of oversaturation.

What I do dislike though is that night trap is there. It just shouldn't honestly, the idea of it was fun, but it's definitively not a great game.

Re: Nintendo Download: 27th December (North America)

ieatdragonz

Probably the quietest week of 2018, nothing for me for sure. Honestly, even January I just will clear out the backlog. Travis doesnt look to break that (Looking at Kingdom Hearts with hearts in my eyes, but backlog includes the previous games, so there ya go).
