It's that time again, fellow gamers, for the North American Nintendo Download Update details. This week has some high profile arrivals on both Switch and 3DS, varying from retail games to intriguing download-only titles. Let's get to the details, shall we?
Nintendo Switch eShop
Oceanhorn: Monster of Uncharted Seas (FDG Entertainment, $14.99 / $19.99CAD) - A hit on mobile that wears its Legend of Zelda influence on its sleeve, this is nevertheless a game that goes its own way with a relatively lengthy download adventure. Despite some flaws we quite enjoyed our time with this, giving it a modest recommendation in our Oceanhorn: Monster of Uncharted Seas review.
Fatal Fury 2 (HAMSTER, $7.99 / $9.87CAD) - A fighting game? On Neo Geo?! Another rare treat for us all to enjoy. Ok, that's not fair, but it is another fighting title to consider with those ACA goodies such as online leaderboards.
3DS Retail Download
Ever Oasis (Nintendo / Grezzo, $39.99 / $49.99CAD) - A title that blends aspects of town management, adventuring and dungeon crawling / combat, this showed rather well during its recent E3 Treehouse showing. It's certainly ambitious and an intriguing arrival, and we're cracking on with a review to share with you soon; in the meantime you can check out our interview with its legendary producer, Koichi Ishii. Available from 27th June.
RPG Maker Fes (NIS America, $39.99 / $54.99CAD) - A title that's sure to tempt quite a few 3DS owners, as it offers the tools and capabilities to create our own RPG adventures, which we can then share and upload with others. The concept is enticing, and we were impressed when we went hands-on with the app earlier this year. Available from 27th June.
3DS eShop
RPG Maker Player (NIS America, free) - An interesting app, as it'll allow anyone to download and enjoy the creations of those that are using RPG Maker Fes, all for no cost.
3DS DLC
Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia Season Pass ($44.99USD / $63.49CAD, 22 pieces of content): The Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia Season Pass includes all five DLC packs as they release. By purchasing the Season Pass, fans who want to receive all DLC will save more than 30 percent compared to purchasing all 22 pieces of content on their own.
Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia DLC Pack #5 – Cipher Companions Pack ($5.99 / $8.49CAD, two pieces of content): Each piece of content in this set for the Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia game for the Nintendo 3DS family of systems introduces two exclusive characters from the Japanese “Fire Emblem Cipher” trading card game. The four characters will also be usable in the main game and are fully voiced.
Wii U eShop
Daikon Set (Batafurai, free) - This is a collection of three retro arcade-style minigames, which sounds interesting and is listed as free on Nintendo's site. Perhaps that really means you can sample each game and then buy them; we'll certainly check it out.
As always Nintendo of America wants you to browse the eShop and check out the official sales and deals website for discount details. There are also Sonic discounts going live across Wii U and 3DS later today.
There are some interesting choices in this week's update - let us know what you'll be downloading in the poll and comments below.

I'll be getting my physical copy of Ever Oasis from Amazon in the mail tomorrow. I was always interested in the game but the demo last week really sold me on it.
And I was all on board for Oceanhorn until I just read the review. Now I'm having second thoughts...
At the time of this post RPG Player has 29% but RPG Maker has 0%.....lol
The Ever Oasis demo also sold me on the game. I'm looking forward to a nice, light ARPG.
Too bad Oceanhorn isn't physical.
I will only evey buy digital again if there is another Nintendo Humble Bundle for the Switch!
but when will Pocket Rumble even have a release date?!
RPG Maker Player because why not.
Otherwise? Nothing. Not that I plan on getting a Switch game before Splatoon 2 anyway. I have enough on my plate as is.
Nothing great apart from Ever Oasis.
@Rafx That works for me. Imma make a sick game for everyone to play.
RPG MAKER FES TIME! Waiting for my physical special edition to arrive in the mail!
Is the US not getting the Hey! Pikmin demo? Was looking forward to that (read about it on twitter)
So, when exactly DO they update the NA shops with these downloads? I've never been able to narrow down the exact times. Because there's two "games" I've been wanting to dive into for a while now: RPG Maker Player and Oceanhorn. Oceanhorn because though I hear the game does have its problems, the art/graphical style I find entirely charming and I quite enjoy these kind of "Zelda clone" style of games. RPG Maker Player...well...free RPGs created by other gamer RPG fans...who wouldn't want that?
Only thing stopping me from them...? They aren't out yet! One would think when they say "available XX date" that they would...you know...be available! It should say "available XX date at XX:XX time" so I don't have to keep randomly pulling up the eshop to see "Is it out yet? Is it out yet?"
Isn't Runbow Pocket out, too? :/
I'm going to download the demo for Ever Oasis so I can at least see what it's about, but I've resolved myself to retire my 3DS after Fire Emblem Echoes:SoV. Even if Nintendo won't consolidate hardware, "I" will, lol. Catch you on the flip side EO and RPG Maker Fes/Player.
Not a thing. I really wish Nintendo would get their act together with the virtual console.
Too many Switch games on the go right now. I'll pass on Oceanhorn until things slow down a bit
Not a great week, but last week gave me Arms and Cave Story so im a bit busy for great weeks
I might get some Sonic games, depending on what the discounts are. Other than that, nothing for me.
Nothing for me this week. I mean, I want to get RPG Maker Fes on my 3DS to help motivate me on making RPGs, but I barely got much in the way of cash and I still have RPG Maker MV.
Free? A sample? Or the minigames are free? 🤔
I been so behind on stuff for the past 2 weeks (like now got to day 3 Nintendo Treehouse behind), I didn't even know Ever Oasis was coming out tomorrow.
When I get more time, I'll download the game. For now I'll try the demo.
Looking forward to a bunch of free user-created games with the RPG Maker Player!
@Rafx 6% Maker Fes, 15% Player now, lol
Also, I recommend passing on Fatal Fury 2 and get Fatal Fury Special whenever that comes out, if you're interested at all. Basically the same game as 2 but with more characters and improved transition time between matches. And you get to fight against Ryo Sakazaki if you don't lose a round through the whole game.
I'll probably download RPG Maker PLayer and see what the 5 people that buy the game come up with.
Getting Ever Oasis physically so will be downloading RPG Maker player. I'll get the game in August. Can't get it next month because I'm getting Hey Pikmin, the Splatoon Pro Controller and the New Nintendo 2DS XL next month.
Ever Oasis and the RPG Maker look cool. Still, I have to save my money this week....
Like I said, sometimes I think I bought a Neo Geo system. I'm about ready to sell my Nintendo Switch.
Don't want anything which is good as I already bought a lot of games this month.
I'll be picking up Ever Oasis tomorrow from Best Buy(it's really caught my attention through the trailers and I did like what little was shown in the demo), and chances are I'll be grabbing RPG Maker Fes next week as well should things go well. :3
Only thing I'll 'download' this week is the player.
Ever Oasis!
It's unfortunately rude to tell your friends "I'm downloading rpg maker player. One of you make me a game to play."
@Highlar It's always 12 Eastern, 9 Pacific.
@Highlar
eShop is updated at Noon Eastern Time/9am Pacific time. Mountain and central on their respective hour correlating with the eastern and pacific times.
@tgpitts11
Ninja
as usual... Euuuuuuuuuurope?
Got my RPG Maker in mail today, it is rather limiting compared to the PC versions as expected but at the same time I enjoy challenging myself. I suppose in a way it's good since the limitations also help keep my own ambitions in check.
I am so falling for the artstyle though, I far prefer the 16-bit RPG look compared to the HD sprites in VX or MV. It's a joy to build maps with these assets.
@tgpitts11 @Zach777 Thanks for that info, friends. Its been driving me crazy trying to figure out when I can get what I want. lol
Unfortunately that still leaves me with another hour...UGH.. In the immortal words of Mr. Montoya: "I hate waiting."
@Expa0 "I suppose in a way it's good since the limitations also help keep my own ambitions in check." Yes, this is exactly why I want FES! That and portability!
Ever Oasis tomorrow for mii most likely and freebie RPG maker.
My copy of Ever Oasis is coming from Amazon tomorrow.
But I'm confused: why does it say here that it's available digitally from June 27?
Rpg maker and ever oasis retail. Stocking eshop money on the switch for a spree later.
Some decent Sonic sales this week. I recommend grabbing Sonic Racing if you don't already own it.
If I had more time, I'd get RPG Maker, as I'm studying pixel art for a friend's project. I will get the player though, and see what some of you lovely people come up with. I want Ever Oasis, but preordering all the new amiibo (minus Mipha... she sold out first darn it) kinda has me tapped out.
Fatal Fury 2 is an excellent fighting game, and I'd wholeheartedly recommend it... if Fatal Fury Special (basically a vastly improved "Champion Edition") didn't exist and will most likely end up in the ACA collection soon.
@gojiguy That was in last week's list for NA.
A Wii U freebie? I'll give it a shot!
And I strongly recommend Oceanhorn to Zelda fans.
Ever Oasis!!! Finally!!
@Highlar Noon Eastern US
Nothing again for me this week as I wait for Splatoon 2. I wish Nintendo would add the VC to Switch.
Ever Oasis for me
I'll probably be getting rpg maker fes, I used vx ace on pc and it worked well, I wouldnt mind making an rpg for the 3ds, or attempting to at least.
Just sitting here, waiting for Splatoon 2....
Gonna go buy Cave Story+ tomorrow so, none of this for me.
I'm good this week. I've got Arms to play and ashamedly I haven finished BOTW main story (even though I have 70+ hours logged).
Nada for me busy with Arms.
Everyone should get RPG Maker Player - it's free!
RPG Maker player for me. Not sure at this point whether I'll get RPG Maker Fes or not. I'll be getting the retail copy of Ever Oasis down the road.
don't get paid until next friday so it's more appropriate for next week's update but my goodness my wallet is going to be hurting
RPG FES
RPG FES player
Runbow Pocket
Gunvolt Burst
more FE Echoes DLC
I'm interested in Ever Oasis and Oceanhorn. What I'm MORE interested in is playing more Arms. I can't get enough of it!
@BoFiS Really annoyed by that - was weirdly one of the things that made me go "okay, I'm getting a Switch."
Ever Oasis for sure, I have been anticipating that game since its reveal.
Ok still a bit slow in the Switch eshop. I'd like to see the day come when we see 5-6 games a week like the PS4/Xbox. Variety is key!
Oceanhorn is $7.49 on Steam (US) until July 5th if anybody wants to save $7.50 and play on PC.
http://store.steampowered.com/app/339200/Oceanhorn_Monster_of_Uncharted_Seas/
I'm hoping we get Metal Slug 2 for switch soon given that it was apparently released for the xbox recently. as for RPG maker, i think I need to look into it more...
Ia m very interested in the RPG Maker. Always wanted to creat an RPG. Perhaps i will bite.
Haven't even tried the demo of Ever Oasis, but I'm probably going to buy it physical tonight.
@BoFiS
I was just thinking the same thing. Every week I wait, and every week I am disappointed.
