Yes it is, nostalgia be damned. It really is a shame to compare, because Galaxy has such a great package. Odyssey is still much better, at least in my eyes.
See I was thinking that as well, but then they announced Detective Pikachu out of nowhere and that kinda pulled me out of that thinking. If there is another direct then it would likely be a single game direct (i.e Fire Emblem Animal Crossing)
I'm just gonna get my Pokemon friend to buy it and pass it around like the bubonic plague. Easy peasy; the game itself looks weird and way too action oriented. There's a reason why a movie is coming out
Something I skipped out over but did regret. Was gonna get it during Black Friday but it sold out much too quickly.
EDIT: Didn't they say if Xenoverse 2 sold well they would bring over Dragon Ball Fighterz?
"We want players to first go there," Hiroki said about bringing Xenoverse 2 to Switch, according to Destructoid. "And then we can talk about FighterZ."
Donkey Kong the Hidden Gem Returns, so I'm happy. The other announcements are cool but expected for a Direct Mini. Hype is a bad thing, its hard to get it out of your head but trust me its so much more relaxing.
If it is, none of my gaming friends have it. I can imagine people like that but it seems to be rarer at least in the western world. South Korea is crazy though :/
Hey Dom, welcome! Great to see a new face on the websits and a all around gamer as well. Hope you settle in nicely!
As for changes I think we should hold off until the new year, like a resolution. It would be really cool to get an AMA from you though to get us aquanted. Thats up to you of course, but I hope youll think about it!
Im a little late, but Ill miss you Thomas. Thats the problem with being a lurker for so long you feel as if the conversation is one sided for many months. Thankfully I was able to be in your live blogs before you left. I hoped I made you laugh at least once! Oh also I hope you dont have to deal with Josef Ferris in your new job
They have too much putty to just throw it away for some new colors. Its guaranteed and "GOTY 2" is always fun. New Mario (2d or 3d) would be fantastic but that's idealism.
@BravelyDavid To be fair we don't know the sales yet outside of Japan/UK. When Nintendo gives official numbers in their fiscal year in March we can see how successful it was in America. I've seen many people playing it over here so who knows.
It really is a fantastic game, immediately after I had trouble determining it as my favorite Metroid game. Super Metroid is so close but I think it might beat it. That's an achievement in of itself.
I feel bad for the devs, its not like the game isnt a passion project... just one that chugs along slowly. It was already hard enough being released today with all the other huge games, but now I guarentee its going to bomb.
You know you guys might like Netflix, but in North America Hulu has a better offering atm. Netflix is removing a ton of shows and movies over here and whenever me and my friends try and find a good movie it never works. Even Canadian Netflix is better ;(
@roy130390 Don't it starts off good and ends poor with some levels reaching up to 18 mins for me. Out of the 3DS games Ive played (which is all but Racing Transformed) Fire and Ice and Generations are the better of them. Fire and Ice is the best Boom game and is like Shattered Crystal but much better. Generations while nowhere near the level of the console counterpart was worth my 20 bucks. Both are 2d games (even modern stages) but they work well and are good fun. If you dont like the 2d stick with Lost World but Im warning ya it gets REALLY grueling.
@Rextephan I think some cappy power ups beat traditional power-ups in a 3d space. The Caterpillar, Jet Octopuss, and Potted Plant are great and beat the fire flower and cherry (in 3d). I definitely miss the Cat Power up, Tanooki in 3D World and the Cloud power up from galaxy those three worked really well.
I can see why you would miss them though, I think they shouldnt have removed them all together. To each their own.
@Rextephan Yours is close to mine, 3D world gets undeserved hate. I think odyssey beats it though, with more memorable levels. The music (minus Jump up and Wooded Kingdom) is still much better.
@Malcrash Thanks for that, I likely will for my friends xbox. Seriously was surprised to see it come out. I need to pay more attention to the other companies because Nintendo's been stealing the spotlight.
If they did I would be happy to buy it. I liked the first one but completely just did not care for the second one and quite frankly wouldn't know it came out minus for an article about a patch breaking saves.
Is it worth it to port? Maybe not but whatever. At least developers are considering it now.
For a couple months now I was looking at this and wondering this could either be a puyo puyo surprise or just a big ol flop. After looking at the PS4 version reviews its not just you confirming it is indeed a flop.
I didn't expect first for Mario Luigi, but guess it was a slower week. Still havent got it myself but since I've bought every single Mario Luigi its gonna be soon. Dream Team is actually my favorite (while Paper Jam was an abomination)
Waiting for physical, want to support in the most I can while also getting the full package. I don't buy most collectors editions but with indie games it feels all the more worth it.
Looks pretty gross at parts and alright at other parts. I have my eye on it because Football/Soccer games are one of the better sports game series. As long as its not American Football shudders
Looks like good level design for a casino stage, enough branching paths and hidden nooks. The music is a little grading at times though. The composer is trying to hearken back to synth but as Sonic 4 has taught us that type of music really doesn't work in a modern sense. Sounds better than that game but when comparing it to the modern sections music, Green Hill Classic and Casino Forest songs are the weakest of the bunch.
EDIT: Thankfully the physics look better than Generations classic levels (minus when he got stuck on the plunger ledge), but I wish they would show off the spin dash. If they messed it up again that would just be the piss. I heard he had drop dash in this game also, so as long as they make the levels fun and fix the spindash Classic levels look a-ok. Wish Tee was composing the classic music though.
@Tarvaax You have to remember that when this game originally released the Switch wasnt even announced. If I knew it was coming maybe I wouldve waited. The physical box also didnt mention it wouldnt come with dlc. I had to look it up after and then realized my mistake. I played it beat it and was contempt with my mistake.
Then the Switch was announced. Just because I bought it on Wii U shouldnt mean I should feel stupid because then buying Mario Kart, or even considering buying Zelda on Wii U before the switch was announced wouldve been a bad idea. But I didnt know. Except I dont actually feel burned about those two.
Still a good game cant stress it enough but my experience has been a drag through the mud.
Not gonnna lie I REALLY dislike how they are handling this game as a kickstarter. I bought the physical retail release for Wii U got a soundtrack and thats it for a good amount more. Then digitally it comes out for Switch and then weeks later it comes out with the dlc. THEN another physical release comes out now including future dlc like the kickstarter supporters got from the very begining.
Shovel Knight being ported is fine and a price increase makes sense because the dlc is out and proven (except king knight). The dlc are free to me it makes me happy to have purchased it back then and incentivises me to rebuy it on Switch. Shantae I have regret. Such a shame because I liked the game but now I dont want dlcs and dont wont to buy games from wayforward anymore. Yes im pissy but come on I feel very burned by all these odd decisions.
@imageform While playing the original Dig I was a little annoyed that materials could be crushed by rocks, especially since there is a limited amount. Is that feature still in Dig 2? If it is then around what precentage of items can you let get destroyed before you lose the ability to buy every upgrade? A general percent would be nice but probably hard to figure :^P
I love everything about these games, so you could imagine my excitement. Don't let the 20 dollar price tag discourage you from the game I got Steamworld Heist with dig on Wii U and it was my best indie purchase I think for a long time. That was 20 bucks.
The week of Switch, for me. Playing Mario + Rabbids in bed bathroom friends house and couch throughout the whole day. Notice how couch was last. I may have been on it more but the experience off it was much more enjoyable.
Legitimately I am happy to be a gamer. Right now I am gushing to my friends about the new Metroid game while finishing up Rabbids. The Switch does have its problems and I cant recommend it to everyone yet. That doesn't matter, its changing my life one genius game at a time
Jeez guys I get that Taketwo is doing some weird stuff with 2k18 but this comment section is pretty unrelated to the actual article
L.A Noire on switch should run fine, I would be a little dissappointed if no textures whatsoever were touched up but Virtous is at least trying to make unique selling points. Will purchase if it isn't a mess.
@Muddy_4_Ever I actually agree! When it was revealed for the first time I was intrigued and believed this was a good way to introduce the franchise to the new generation. I remember people argueing that it shouldnt be called pikmin and should be a new ip like people wanted with federation force. Calling it Pikmin made it have more selling power but irritated fans. But in the other case it would likely be even more buried under 3ds and switch releases. It was a lose-lose situation.
The sales still werent as good as I hoped but I admire the attempt. Still havent gotten it because of other games but by the end of the year I will. Hope its fun
This is why I thought pikmin was his worst work, it was a game intended for children but when I was a child I couldnt figure it out. The genre felt more adult so I gave up. Now I enjoy it but that inconsistancy still lingers in my mind.

@GC-161 Nintendo Treehouse was getting bored not translating anything since its mostly ports for months (and Kirby)

Re: SUPERBEAT: XONiC Has Two New, and Free, Songs to Enjoy
I love the fact that a ton of games are getting free dlc on the switch. The only game I could recall doing that on Wii U is Shovel Knight.
Speaking of, if anyone has these games which would you recommend? VOEZ, Deemo or this game? Im thinking about getting one of them.

Re: Pokémon, Xenoblade Chronicles 2 and Nintendo Switch Lead the Way in Japanese Charts
Man it's refreshing to see good news about Nintendo, it seems the only times we need to use asterisks are in the UK charts.
Re: Metroid: Samus Returns Rolls In With A SR388 Data File Trailer
My underdog GOTY, although it still does lose out to Mario but not Zelda. If it was on the Switch or a year earlier it might've actually had a chance.
Re: The Mega Man X Series Is Getting Its Own Collection On Switch
Time to play X7 on the toliet... which is where it belongs.
Re: Nintendo Switch Hardware Sales Reach Another Level in Japan
What a jump! What could be the cause? Hopefully its just restock, or maybe Japan has a Black Friday I don't know about.

Re: Portal Knights is Just a Week Away on Nintendo Switch

Re: Phantom Breaker: Battle Grounds Overdrive Heads To Switch Early Next Month
For a second from reading the title I thought this was Player Unknown Battleground the brand new hit of 2017 and game of the year nominee!
...yeah this might be better.

Skyrim? Skyrim.
Re: Worms W.M.D Will Bring Havoc to the Switch on 23rd November
Oh jeez surprise release, its driving me a bit mad having all these random announcements haha
Also 4.6 GB is a little much for worms no? That's about as big as Snake Pass is, I'm running out of space.
