Re: Epic Games Could Soon Be Worth A Staggering $8 Billion Thanks To Fortnite's Success

ieatdragonz

@Heavyarms55 I wouldn't worry too much honestly. Companies have seemed to settle more and more about paid transactions, with only the greediest of companies and series still trying. I don't think we'll have a Shadow of War situation just because of Fortnite.

It seems that companies have only gathered one thing about Fortnites success... Battle Royale modes guarentee money. Gaming executives are pretty damn dumb haha.

Re: Epic Games Could Soon Be Worth A Staggering $8 Billion Thanks To Fortnite's Success

@Equinox Key word is "marketed". You can believe whatever you want about whichever franchise (personally, I believe that James Bond is suited for kids though the marketing would label it the opposite). If you wanted to bring up a video game series that does not market to kids and is popular, then you could easily bring up GTA (Im sure you have some key words about that series as well).

Re: Epic Games Could Soon Be Worth A Staggering $8 Billion Thanks To Fortnite's Success

ieatdragonz

@Equinox Have you ever looked at the best selling franchises of all time? Almost ALL of them are marketed towards children. To say it is only a fad is rubbish. Do you call Mario, Star Wars, Hello Kitty, Pokemon and Minecraft a fad even though they have lasted decades? I can't particularly say you are wrong, but your expectation reeks of "Its not suited for me, it will die soon."

And I don't get what is so wrong about its success. Epic is now funding more and more capital into the Unreal Engine. Better games that are NOT Fortnite will come your way, seems irrational to keep barking at a cloud that provides you rain

Re: Daemon X Machina Producer Believes A Lot Of Modern Games Look The Same

ieatdragonz

Honestly, I'd go one step further and say many of modern games look identical, especially when you keep in the same genre. People can bring in all the examples they want against the mold, but there's too many that feel the same.

Not even saying thats a bad thing. Red Dead Redemption looks just like any other open world Rockstar game, but it is the standout one because of story and character. At this points visuals are second fiddle, but is that so wrong? I do appreciate companies like Nintendo that do change it up, but in the end, visuals don't make the game.

Re: Freedom Planet Is Officially Coming To Nintendo Switch This Autumn

Man, this is the most depressing comment section I've seen in a while. And I was here during the Wii U days!

Good idea of a game, never pulled me in as much as Sonic but the no touch damage feature legit made the game 100 times more fun than Sonic clones. Same with Spark the Electric Jester. I did really enjoy the sequels test demo on PC, so that's the one I'll be waiting for.

Re: Video: Burn Some Rubber With Some New Team Sonic Racing Footage

ieatdragonz

@Nintendofan83 ? Mario Kart is well past 8 million. Even on Wii U, it is at 8.42 million sold, easy to remember because it is the best selling game on the system, and its past 8 million for the 8th game.

If you're talking Switch its well past 8 million, passing nine million and still going.

The game doesn't really need to be a competitor, as long as it delivers a fun and interesting experience. I know many people who prefer Racing Transformed to Mario Kart, and while I disagree, I love that there's even an option, however niche it may be.

Thankfully Sonic and Sega All Stars Racing Transformed did in fact "crack a million". It deserved it, it had much less brand power than Mario but still was a success and a good game. I am not sure how well this one will sell, but if its as good or close to Transformed, I hope it's a lot.

Re: Gallery: Feast Your Eyes On These Gorgeous Sega AGES Screenshots

ieatdragonz

M2 is a good developer, but what is the POINT of not using the Christian Whitehead Sonic 1 mobile port? It is legitimately the definitive version, but SEGA REFUSES to port it to pc or console. It's baffling, this whole SEGA AGES thing is pretty baffling. Would rather have the collection the other consoles are getting.

Re: Video: Relive The Amazing Story Behind One Of Sonic's Most Beloved Outings

ieatdragonz

To be honest, Sonic CD feels more of the true successor to Sonic 1. Higher emphasis on platforming, dreamy aesthetics, and a darker motif. It isn't as highly regarded as Sonic 2, but it deserves some credit for really "feeling" like a sequel.

Though Sonic 2 was definitely the way to go. More accessible, more colorful, and more fun. STI NA definitely heralded the torch well for Classic Sonic.

Re: Super Mario Odyssey Passes The 10 Million Sold Marker

ieatdragonz

@Yasume Thinking back, it may be Mario Rabbids. I say maybe because Ubisoft keeps it sales close to their chest.

Although I can't find any source to that Doom million claim. I thought Skyrim sold more than it?

Thats still only ten or maybe eleven, really whats that last one? Bomberman? Snipperclips? Or was I right with them counting Sonic Mania?

Re: Super Mario Odyssey Passes The 10 Million Sold Marker

ieatdragonz

"Arguably the Switch's lead title at Christmas, Super Mario Odyssey joins the console's "million seller" club, which now stands at an impressive 12 titles."

...Wait twelve? Mario, Mario Kart, Zelda, Splatoon, 1,2 Switch, ARMS, Xenoblade 2, Kirby, and Pokken. What's the other three? I mean maybe Sonic Mania but that's multi-plat (although undoubtedly it sold best on Switch).

Re: Review: Detective Pikachu (3DS)

ieatdragonz

@DTFaux It would definitely been cool if the development team would have the time/resources/reason to develop it for the Switch as well. However the game has been in development for a long time considering it was episodic.

Plus I don't think people are complaining simply because every "other" 1st party titles are coming to the Switch. When Sushi Striker was first revealed people had the same "Why isn't this on Switch?" reaction. Now that its on Switch you don't hear anyone singing the developers praises, because they never had interest to begin with.

@Paraka People want what they can't have. Some people actually called me a Nintendrone for defending the games on the 3DS haha.

Re: Review: Detective Pikachu (3DS)

ieatdragonz

More creativity than the last six pokemon games combined, means I will buy into it. Although I seriously cannot understand the nondesire to play a game just cause its on 3DS. It's not like its a hundred hours long lol.

Re: Super Bomberman R Is Coming To Rival Systems With Exclusive Characters

ieatdragonz

Nothing wrong with that, they helped bolster the day one lineup and thats appreciated. Now that their mission is done they can move elsewhere. Although I doubt it will sell as much on a non launch day, no 8 player Bomberman.

Me personally, I got it for twenty bucks on Black Friday. Definitely worth twenty with the patches and the simple multiplayer fun. I suck at it though

Re: Feature: This Ain't A Scene It's An ARMS Race (At EVO Japan 2018)

ieatdragonz

Honestly, I love the idea that it exists, but like most smaller esports its so disorganized it hurts.

I would recommend the community makes a website that shows upcoming matches and tournaments. Its not an easy job, but its the only reason I was able to get into CS:GO. All because of HLTV . org.

Its another reason I don't want to get into the smash or rocket league esports. Smashboards is such an ugly website and is annoying to navigate. If there was a suitable replacement, I'm sure the esport would explode.

Re: Hello Kitty Kruisers is Racing Onto Switch Both Digitally and Physically

ieatdragonz

@Paraka I don't think Licensed should be it's own category, plenty of licensed games are pretty good (like LEGO games) while a lot of them are cheap cash grabs, worthy of the name shovelware.

When you are talking about Cars 3, yes its not a "shovelware developer". But I still think it should still count as shovelware. If a game comes out and is widely regarded as poor and uninteresting, then I think it counts.

For example I didn't put Has-Been Heroes on my list, because there are enough people who genuinely like the game for it not to be considered shovelware. Touhou was obviously rushed to market and had little effort, while Has Been feels complete.

I was even considering putting Monopoly on that list because of the number of crashes I had in that game. Rushed POS by a big company is sometimes much worse than shovelware.

Re: Hello Kitty Kruisers is Racing Onto Switch Both Digitally and Physically

ieatdragonz

@link3710 Cars 3: Driven to Win, Party Planet, Ben 10, RBI Baseball 17, Touhou Kabuto V: Burst Battle, WWE 2K18, Troll and I, Monster Jam:Crush It and Cartoon Network Battle Crashers. The moto racing games I didn't even think about because I'm not in the Pal region.

Sorry outnumber may have been hyperbolic, but I also know that the UIG is going to making a lot of shovelware. Along with this game I'm just a bit worried is all
