The past weekend brought us a second set of opportunities to try out ARMS, the game Nintendo plans to be the next big thing on Switch. It added Twintelle to the ranks (likely because she's been so popular on social media) along with a couple of new game types to shape things up.
Nintendo of Europe has outlined the most popular and successful characters from the Testpunch; the former is easy to guess, though it's not quite as simple guessing which fighters clocked the most wins.
Also, as pointed out in the comments (thanks!) there's a new video on 'Movement 101':
Does this match up with your experiences of the second weekend of the ARMS Global Testpunch?

Mechanica!
I didn't see many people playing as Ribbon girl when I was on, mainly Ninjara.
Either way they were getting smacked down by Min Min.
Didn't have time to try it out, hopefully when the actual game comes out they will have other demo days or something
New video too.
ARMS - Movement 101 (Nintendo Switch)
I played mostly as Mechanica, since she's my favorite of the group. Well, I like Helix more from a character design perspective, but I really don't like any of his 3 available arms in the demo.
Doesn't surprise me Thirstelle was up there.
I will try using Springman oftenly once I got Switch.
It's not a huge surprise that Ribbon Girl had the highest winning average, her extra jumps and dive punch are pretty great, especially since a lot of people don't block.
Ninjara is simple and easy to use, while twintelle is the second hardest imo but of course that's not why they played her. I like the entire cast so far, but I gotta say even though I love Master Mummy losing as him is the most frustrating thing.
As a self professed Ribbon Queen, I hereby take all credit for that win rate. We wrapped that Test Punch up like it was Christmas.
I was only successful as Master Mummy. Got crushed with every other character.
Well, there is a lot of Ninjara for sure. There is plenty that uses Twintelle at first, but seems like a lot of them switch to the more familiar character later.
Ribbon Girl is a tough enemy to beat, wide range of movement and small target, she is quite hard to hit. Add to that a quick Slapamander to slap her opponent. Mechanica is not as quick, but isn't that Master Mummy slow either. Her ARMS seems to be all heavy hitter and can easily overwhelm a smaller opponent.
I found a lot of Min Min in the first round of Testpunch but it seems a lot of them moved away on the second round. I kept my loyalty to Min Min though and find her as good as any other at beating her opponents. Ram Ram is definitely my favorite ARMS, while the Dragon is great for scoring long range attack.
I started off as spring man, but I swiftly changed to the Ninja guy cause I like when he jump he disappears in a puff of smoke.
Exactly how I predicted. I knew Ribbon Girl was gaining popularity at the end of the first weekend of test punch. Even though Twintelle was a popular choice, during the final rounds of the test punch there were some really good Twintelle fighters.
Nice to hear that because Ribbon Girl is my favorite. Didn't see so many Twintelles. I use Ninjara and I know he can be a headache since he is so fast.
Twintelle and Ribbon Girl are my favorite. Great to see them getting popular status.
Min Min for life! Ninjara is for noobs!
Min Min for the Lose Lose
I started getting a lot of wins with Ninjara, i think he'd be main
I played almost exclusively as Ribbon Girl and I won way more than I lost. A couple of perfects. I love the Slapamander. It's so bad.
Ninjara and Twintelle were the most used?! Butt I wanted Twintelle to win!! Assk anyone: most used Twintelle back(side)-to-back! Definitely, she was not at the bottom!
Rocked it as Ribbon Girl. I thing she is very noob-friendly and balanced.
I wonder if Ribbon Girl has a high win rate because she's OP and needs a nerfing, if she's easy to use, or if it's because more focused/technical players were tending to choose her?
@Maxz Swish, swish, my fellow ribbon dancer!
We were apparently contributing greatly to that win rate...... I played a lot of different characters but centered on ribbon girl as my best. I was generally coming in the top 3 in coin count in my lobbies (a few lobbies though I was utterly decimated by a maniac Spring Man or Master Mummy.
@jeffri Yeah, I went in thinking Min Min would be my Main Main, but ended up switching away from her and more toward Ribbon, Spring, and Mechanica. I could still do great with her when I picked her up though....so she's a contender, but just didn't seem quite as perfect as I imagined.
I don't get on so well with Ninjara. His vanishing act is great but I just can't get him to do what I want him to do. I just hate that Ribbon Girl might be OP enough to get nerfed (Splatoon Testfire Rollers 2015. Never Forget.) and she's kind of generic with the whole "school girl/cheerleader/idol" thing. But fun to play.
I didn't track everything, but it did seem like I did best with Ribbon Girl. Definitely easier to play than Twintelle or Min Min. I got absolutely nowhere playing Min Min.
Master Mummy really seemed to be the most toothless fighter. I think a lot of people who picked him did not know how to use him, as he was the one character that I consistently did well against.
Not surprised by Mechanica's success. She is a beast. I didn't play her, but I got KOed by so many Mechanicas I started freaking out every time I saw her. Ninjara was a tricky opponent, too, but not nearly as hard as Mechanica.
Ninjara's Tele-dodge seemed a little overpowered at times. It was really easy to use it to dodge an attack, then immediately grab the opponent for a sizable bit of damage.
I really like all of the characters. Ninjara, Mechanica, and Ribbon Girl are my favorite so far. Hopefully balancing will happen when the game releases proper.
My daughter was kicking @$$,with Master Mummy
Yeah, Ribbon Girl was getting a bit much in the 2nd part of the Testpunch, as I thought. I have to fight her at range. Against Ninjara I also have to fight at range, but once he gets too close, you get the throw loop. He'll always have the advantage, too, at close range because your character will not be able to turn to face him fast enough, nor will any amount of hook to your punch will break through the grab. The best thing I could do is spam dash backwards or jump dash backwards and spam punches and hope for the best.
Twintelle got the Min Min treatment, from what I noticed. Lots of folks picking her in the beginning. Then a chunk of them switch to another character after finding out she's a bit hard to use (myself included for the first session only). Then those Twintelles, and Min Mins, I ran into towards the end were the best of the bunch.
I kind of wish that Barq and Byte and Kid Cobra were available to use. Not for me, personally, but since all the characters were shown off in the game's 'attract mode' (an arcade term for a game's demonstration, that plays itself while the game is waiting for someone to play it), it would have just made sense. I mean, Hedlok uses their bodies, why can't we? But of course, it's still a 'demo' so we can't have everything.
I found I had a high success rate with Twintelle but if I was against someone who really knew how to use their character it was a lot more difficult, often it being close.
