Imagine running through the land of Hyrule as Link. What, you've already done that a long time ago in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild? Well, have you tried it with the Ring-Con? That's exactly what the modder Super Louis 64 did.
He got his Ring-Con from Ring Fit Adventure and was able to turn it into a fully functioning controller that's compatible with Breath of the Wild. It means that instead of controlling the game's protagonist with a standard pair of Joy-Con or a Pro Controller, you have to play the game as if you're playing Ring Fit.
In the above video, you can see the modder running, squatting and even squeezing, shaking and moving the Ring-Con in all different directions to make Link perform various actions on-screen. To do anything though, he has to run at all times.
While it's unlikely Nintendo would ever release a Zelda game or even an update for its existing titles that makes the Ring-Con compatible with them (we're not including its functionality with Mario Kart 8 Deluxe), it's definitely got us thinking this mod would be a great way to keep working out if you ever got tired of playing through the same experiences in Ring Fit Adventure.
How has your own time been with the Ring-Con so far? Would you ever want to see it made officially compatible with other titles like Zelda? Comment down below.

I enjoy my time with ring fit, but only in small bursts. I can't handle long plays yet.
Sheesh, but nothing compares to the work that man did just to beat a shrine. I'm not ready for that level of workout yet.
That 's one way to work out while playing Zelda!
I salute you sir. Now we just need a game where we rob banks and run from the police and have to use the Ring Fit. Or maybe a western where you have to rob a train and you forgot your horse so instead you have to run with Ring Fit. Hehe
@Xylnox Grand Fit Auto and Ring Dead Redemption
@HobbitGamer lol. Yes, we need these games!
Whew, just completed World 3 in one...sitting?...but I REALLY shouldn't have skipped breakfast just to burn extra fat!
And yes, I've ditched my multivitamins and plan on shopping for a blender this weekend. Gotta find a blender that's easy to clean, won't heat up the nutrients, and then formulate one single smoothie recipe that gives me fiber and fruit/veggie servings (seeing as I DESPISE them as a Supertaster).
Funny seeing this right after I finish today's RFA run. Does he know you don't actually have to be running to make RFA think you're running? Like, twerking or just shaking your hips works very well.
@JasmineDragon
Thats how lazy scrubs play
nintendo already updated some games for labo, this probably has more potential than that
OMG I would love to try this. I would LOVE it if Nintendo would apply or find more uses for the Ring Fit Ring. I love it in RFA but the potential to mess around as a work out option in other games would be cool.
I think the Fit is just the start of FitXercise here.
Wow I now feel like my girlfriend is gonna ask what am I reading haha ๐ wow!

@Liam_Doolan
Uhm, explain to me why that would be unlikely? BotW got an update for Labo VR, adding support for the Ring Cons seems less costly and more likely in comparison.
enlightened gamers play every game with ring fit and labo vr
including 1-2 Switch and Flip Wars
That's pretty cool though I feel like a game with complicated controls isn't the best fit, especially one like Breath of the Wild where death happened so easily even with good controls. What he did accomplish is pretty amazing though.
I think a game like Mario Kart would work nicely though. Running could be the gas, turn with the ring con, push in to jump/power slide, pull out to use item holding the ring con high to shoot forward and low to shoot backwards. Can't really think of a good brake except maybe just a button on the he joy-con but who uses the brake anyways.
I can see that situation working pretty well, maybe Mario Kart 9 will have a "Fit" mode or something.
@JasmineDragon
Sheesh maybe I should try that, sometimes I am jogging in place pretty hard and my character is hardly moving.
@Xylnox Payday 2 on Switch says hello.
@PBandSmelly Of course, but if you have to be "running" to do anything in the game your legs are going to fall off. In RFA you stop running every time you have to do something.
@gokev13 Have you tried switching to silent mode? It might work better for you.
@JasmineDragon
Usually it's fine and I think I would prefer jogging to squats all the time. Mostly when I have a problem it's because the leg strap had shifted or something. I think I just need better shorts for exercise because I find that I usually need to stop and adjust things fairly often in the heavy jogging levels.
I actually don't think twerking is an option for me.
@JasmineDragon
Nah man Im gonna make this have even MORE running. Im a marathon runner, I dont take that from a ring
Ok. But now play the game in Master Mode.
I've been waiting for BOTW Ring-Con challenges. I can win Smash Ultimate matches with the Ring-Con and Leg-Strap.
@Smashfan502 Yep. Raise one knee and hold the Ring-Con so the Joy-Con faces vertically, and you have the basic dual Joy-Con set-up. Pulling off Terry's Go commands feels extra rewarding with this setup.
@Smashfan502 Perhaps, but you look like a pro doing it with the physical limitation.
@Smashfan502 Then don't.
@Smashfan502 I forgive you. =] The Ring-Con and Leg Strap amuse me, so I just want to see what gamers with nothing better to do can achieve using them. Imagine a Mario Odyssey playthrough with that setup.
@Smashfan502 No problem. Your intentions were good.
All I can think is if you want a work out, get a vr headset and play beat saber and super hot for 30 minutes.
This would be cool if it works a little smoother.
