I just got VII&VIII, X&X-2, and XII this week on Amazon! This is great news, since FFIX is the only numbered title I don't have on the Switch yet!
...I am a bit miffed that I bought VII&VIII Twin Pack for like $70 after shipping and tax, but hey, it's a physical copy.
FF IX is the only title I'm missing, and it's the only one not in the sale? Of course...
I was hoping for Dragon Quest Builders 2!
@link3710 It's there.
"Final Fantasy IX – $12.59 / £10.19 (40% off)"
@Chayshirin i'm surprised they recalled they have Dragon Quest titles at all for this sale XD
But looking at the selection, they're all titles, except for Oninaki, that are under the 65-80$CAD(dunno how much that is in USD or British pound) prices of "primary" titles, being mostly rereleases/etc, so i'm not surprised that 80$CAD Builders 2 isn't there.
This said the fact that the Dragon Quest trilogy releases are there(and that there isn't much more FF games to rerelease outside of the SNES/NES era), I wonder if there's any chances 2020 will see more Dragon Quest rereleases.
I wouldn't say no to rereleases of the Zenithian trilogy DS era remakes with high resolution support and perhaps crisper sprites/3d environment textures. And even without that it would still be something I'd heartily welcome.
Though the real deal for me would be an HD remastered rerelease of DQ8 with refreshed HD-updated visuals of the PS2 version but bonus content of the 3DS version. The cel-shading of 8 is definitely something that may remain a strong fit for the Switch without needing too much of an overhaul to remain relevant because it often felt that timeless.
That isn't the weirdest thumbnail you could have chosen, is it?
@Bobb it's the final fantasy equivalent of surprised Pikachu, she's just amazed by the prices.
No dragon quest 11? Oh well.
If you could play the original DQ games (with original graphics) I would’ve bought them all.
Tomb Raider and Deus Ex games are missing on this list. They need to be ported to Switch
Already got everything of interest here.
I'm honestly surprised that the switch got 7/8/9/10/10-2 before we got a single NES/SNES Final Fantasy.
FFVI in particular is an instant buy for me the second it goes on sale. Same goes for the original on NES.
@KayFiOS Thanks lol... I was expecting it to be between VIII and X.
I just purchased practically every Atlus game on the 3DS during that sale a couple weeks ago, otherwise I'd probably jump at a couple of these.
Snagged VII. The text has an up-res filter and transitions are updated from the original formatting, but it's a serviceable port and I'm VERY much looking forward to turning off random encounters in puzzle areas.
I’ll have to pick up the Dragon Quest games on my next paycheck (day after Christmas and right before my tuition payment is due 😑). I’ve already got Collection of Mana and my FF collection is on my PS3 and PS4.
FF7 finally joining the backlog...
Got Dragon Quest 1-3 FF 7 8 9 10.. wanted 12 but broke now. Xbox also has this ff sale but the only reason I have xbox is the 13 trilogy.
I only now heard and seen of the Dragon Quest trilogy getting a physical release. I'm guessing that was one of those Asian region releases?
@KingMike Yes Asia only and it's too expensive to import imo.
lol dragon quest 11 on steam sale but not switch which has more content. That cracks me up
@MrVariant
Dragon Quest XI S is actually on sale in the Japanese Eshop and it's 25% off. But, since the game is normally about 80 dollars in Japan, you're really not saving anything with it being $60 right now there.
Since it's a Nintendo published game in the West. I presume next year or so there'll be a 30% off sale.
Been holding off loading up on these waiting for the inevitable year-end sale. Gonna get FF8,10 and 12 and probably Mana.
Think I'll need a bigger SD card too. empties wallet
Hey guys, I know I shouldn’t butt in here but I’ve got to report this while no one else will, currently on the EU 3DS eShop you can get Radiant Historia: Perfect Chronology for 80% off, Culdcept Revolt for 60% off and Stella Glow for 50% off. These are all great RPG games that I recommend if you’re interested, especially since there is little chance of them appearing on the Switch eShop.
Hmm I’ll wait until after Christmas and see how my funds shake out.
Collection of Mana 50% off 😆
Picked up Collection of mana as have been waiting for it to go on sale and FF8 remake to round out the PS1 classic collection on my switch. Getting 12 for Xmas and will import FfX/X2 eventually but no rush as have a never ending backlog to play
I already picked up a physical copy of FF X-X2 on sale already, for about the same price. They also had FFXII and Collection of Mana on sale at the same store, both of which were (and still are) tempting me greatly but the digital sale for Collection of Mana is cheaper. I just shouldn't but them though. I am still playing the game I got for my birthday on September, only finished one story path in Fire Emblem, will have DQ XI and Luigi's Mansion 3 in the house but Christmas and my Switch is littered with unfinished eShop titles. I'm just a little behind.
All of these are games I would rather have physical. Good deal for some people though!
Dang, those are some pretty great deals. If only they were also running these for their 3DS titles....
@link3710 I think it was listed alphabetically, the roman numeral IX comes first in that manner.
Would had been nice if I am Setsuna, Lost Sphear, Octopath Traveler, and Grandia I & II got the sale treatment too.
Was really hoping Dragon Quest XI would be on sale... it's 50 percent off on Steam right now, but I guess it came out too recently on Switch to be discounted.
@Kalmaro I'm pretty sure it's not on sale with the SE games because Nintendo published DQ 11 in the west.
@IronMan30 Oh? Well that's unfortunate
@Kalmaro yeah, it's also how they get around discounting Octopath Traveller and DQ Builders/2 (on Switch, anyway).
aww no the last remnant, its the only game ik for a fact I want of theirs.
I don't know, man, none of those really strike me as that impressive in terms of sales. Bring on the Steam-tier/PSN Flash Sale-level of discounts and we'll talk!
@Dman10
Especially the first trilogy reboot by Crystal Dynamics, I adore those games.
@3DSWiiUFanatic
I find it annoying when a Switch port doesn’t have as good of a sale as on other platforms. Particularly considering the Switch ports are overpriced to begin with.
Time to get the Mana collection. I find myself thinking about getting the numbered FF titles out of nostalgia but I'm pretty sure the Mana games are the only ones I'd actually play
Tempted by 7 as never played it.
Are any of these tactics style games?
Loved tactics advance and the ds sequel.
I was hoping that octopath traveler got a discount... Grrr
I'm really surprised how much better FF9 looks.
@Aerona
Did it really change that much?
Mmm i am curious now
I'm contemplating a ff game. So what's a good final fantasy game to start with. I'm more of an arpg fan than turned based but im willing to give any of them a try if they're welcoming to noobs. Lmk
I grabbed Dragons Quest as this likely is only chance of getting a Dragon warrior port. I wish it was a NES version. The freaky character sprites aside it is till enjoyable.
@The-Chosen-one It's a pretty subtle upgrade, but yeah, to me it makes a surprisingly big difference.
@NintendoByNature I started with 9. It's kind of a bridge between the Nintendo and Playstation era FFs.
@Aerona hows the system? Cumbersome or easy to understand? Keep in mind I've never played a final fantasy game or rarely any jrpgs
@Aerona
Ah tnx for the reply. I am a big fan of rpgs like this. So will purchase it too.
@NintendoByNature It's pretty simple. So yeah, it's probably a pretty good entry point mechanically too.
FFIX was my first RPG outside of Pokémon.
@Aerona good stuff, hopefully i get some eshop credit for Christmas so I can grab it. I've spent far too much lately 😣
