Following a not-so-subtle tease yesterday, Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1 + 2 has now been officially revealed for Nintendo Switch.
The game, a remaster of both Tony Hawk's Pro Skater and Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2, will launch on Nintendo's system at some point in 2021 following a newly announced March release for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. You can see the announcement below.
And from Nintendo itself:
Our pals over at Push Square described last year's PS4 release as an "excellent remake" in their full review. Here's a snippet of what they had to say:
"It brings those PS1 classics to the modern era with a wonderful visual upgrade, rock solid performance, and all the features you'd expect of a game released in 2020. Most importantly, though, it retains the specific feel of the franchise at its best, delivering an addictive, fast-paced, arcade-like experience. Old fans can rest easy knowing that the Tony Hawk games are back on form, while new players can dive into the skateboarding world for the first time. This game is sick, bro."
Here's hoping it'll be just as good when it arrives on Switch later this year!
Looking forward to this one? Were you hoping the game would come to Switch? Let us know in the comments.

Wow. That was fast!
Wooop! Finally!
Kickflip to 360 goofy-foot Switch ollie.
Really missed a great opportunity for a pun about riding Switch!
Super cool. This was my childhood and these games were the reason I bought a PS.
Absolutely pumped for this, and with the remade audio its gonna be a good time!
Awesome! Nice one Activision. Crash, THPS, Diablo2 and Arcade Collection...careful, you'll end up doing something crazy like bringing Modern Warfare 2 to Switch!
I really don't understand why this and Crash 4 weren't in the Direct.
Instant day 1 purchase, no hesitation
It seems Crash Bandicoot got some good connections inside Activision
Finally!
Switch is a perfect match for these kind of games.
Can't wait to play it.
Now Nintendo could bring Wave Race and 1080 to make a full house 👍😏
Fantastic! Just hope it’s ported well.
Good games but won't be getting them as the dog chases skateboarders trying to bite their wheels.
Nice. Seeing as their other games got Switch ports eventually, this didn't really come as a surprise but I'm happy it got confirmed this soon. I liked the tease too.
Great news. Looking forward to it. Haven't played the game in absolute years
Awesome news. Here’s hoping we get the Underground games as well!
I’m getting in there before somebody else does - £40 for two ports of old games. I bet you have to download one as well.
Awesome!!! Really looking forward to this one, love the originals
Shame that the Switch port is not coming out on March 26th along with the PS5/XBS versions, though there is another big game releasing on that same day, so maybe the delay was for the best.
I suspected it'd be announced eventually so never picked it up on PC or Xbox.
Loved these, woop woop
FINALLY!
Now we just need 1080 and i'll be happy and content to wait till BOTW2 comes out.
Nice, very likely to get this!
So hyped for this. Day-one purchase for me. Can we all start a petition for EA to bring us the SSX games now.
@Woodyshoe Totally rebuilt from the ground up with new challenges and stuff. Not just straight ports. Whether that's worth 40 is up to you, but some serious work was put into this.
Amazing, cannot wait for this.
I was thinking about getting this for PS4, but I'll wait for Switch. I loved these games on PS1. I played the crap out of them. Does this remastered version have the same soundtracks as the originals or new music?
I was obsessed with Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2 on the PS1, I held off buying the PS4 version for a Switch port. Great news!
@delt75 They lost the rights to six of the songs, but they made up for it by including 37 new ones for 56 total.
If I didn’t have it on ps4 already it would be a day 1 purchase. Great game and may eventually get it for the portability.
@Sabrewing Thanks!!
So happy! I can’t wait to play this!
@Grumblevolcano I assume Activision wanted to announce it on their own terms.
If it plays well on the Switch, I’ll pick it up. But I’ll wait and see. Already own it got PS4, almost certainly not gonna pay the £10 to upgrade that version.
Can't wait! I hope they do 3 and 4 as well.
Yes let the fun start, nice how they're treating the Switch as a next gen platform (having announce same time as PS5 and Xbox Series X) and not last gen like the PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
Nice, let’s hope it runs great 😊
That's another feather in the Switch's cap.
Great news if it's all on the cart.
Otherwise, screw it.
@Grumblevolcano they already announced it less than a month ago, not much more to be said about it, especially when there are already multiple trailers for the game out there.
OMG I cant wait to 100% those gap lists again! I loved these games the 1st time around
Not a skater, but I remember enjoying the original back in the day. Will get this if it turns out to be a good port.
@zander_dale Whenever I see 1080, or think about how much we "need" this, two things come to mind:
-a handful of redemption is all we need
-and it would be 720 in handheld.
Stupid jokes aside, I'd love to snowboard through some avalanches, push competitors, and narrowly escape by jumping right into a helicopter on the new "Game Boy" (I grew up with Game Boys, and the Switch to me feels like the newest model, which is a positive thing). With a paintbrush, a rocket, a penguin, a NES controller,... Or a joy con as a board.
@Ghost_of_Hasashi pc is not a last gen it is always exspandible always changing.
THPS 1+2 was really how you do a remake.
@sik187 It's still last gen cause it's the same device all the time. It'll only be next-gen if a new one came out.
YES!!!! Now Madden, GTA, Call of Duty. No more excuses.
If it runs well and holds up on the Switch, this will be a day one buy for me
Wahoo One of my favorite memories with my dad is playing these games together, now we can relive them and with better graphics
I've played this on my Xbox Series S, so I'm hoping that the new release is available for a free upgrade! It's a great remaster but not sure I'll buy it again for Switch...
Also - this would have been great in the Nintendo Direct 😂
@Grumblevolcano indeed THPS is my most wanted Switch game! A game I loved enough that I'll buy for Switch and next gen!
So, got it on PC, PS4, and will probably get the PS5 and switch version now. I absolutely love this game.
CAN ... NOT ... WAIT!!!
OMG... Thank You!
I did not expect it and I am very happy it will be released for switch
Found switch footage.

Awesome news.
I had a feeling, it would only be a matter of time (given the other ports), but it's nice to have it confirmed.
I was going to opt for skater XL but seeing as this will probably best that to release then I'll probably opt for this! THPS2 for me was the best in the series, can't wait!
So call of duty is coming next?
This is great news just hope it controls ok with joy cons
I hoping for a solid remake and NO motion controls.
@Ghost_of_Hasashi ok so a pc that has a gtx 3080 is last gen all the time? Ok gotcha...
Does it retain the original soundtracks?
This game was my game of the year in 2020. Utterly fantastic remaster/remake
I'm very glad this is going to be on Switch. I wish games to a "less powerful system" came out first, though.
Y E S
2021 is saved. Yes yes yes. Boy is that freaking exciting for me.
I've just seen a video of it running on Switch and it looks great. Well made, Activision, well made!
Hoping this delayed on switch because of MH: Rise and Activision wanna get Crash 4 out first meaning it won't be a huge wait.
2021 better not mean towards end of year.
Glad I held out.
Guys head on over to IGN's youtube. They already have footage of the game up. It looks good
https://youtu.be/QL19wvWwbq4
Sigh. I knew it but I still caved and bought it on xbox. Double dipping.
Just need a release date for skatebird next.
Number 2 was one of the very, VERY few games that I loved for my PS1 (PS1 couldn't touch the Saturn or N64 for me), so I will no doubt be picking this one up
@Oh_Well if we get SSX with THPS I will be one very happy man. Maybe throw in the Skate games too
Okay so the switch footage looks great and now I'm thinking about playing it handheld and getting excited.
@FluffiestP1llow Strangely, I've never played the Skate games, but I know a lot of people that speak highly of them. As long as we're throwing around wish lists for over-the-top sports games, how about an NBA Street revival. I would simply love a straight port of Volume 2, but I'm sure that's an impossibility due to licensing issues.
I love the game on my PS4. I hope it's a good port for those getting it on Switch.
@Silly_G sadly I can already see 1 on the cart and 2 on a sheet. Switch is my only console and I love these games far too much to short myself on it. I havent played them in 20ish years so nostalgia is real for me.
@NintendoByNature : I recall playing a Tony Hawk game on a family friend or cousin's PS1 back in the day. I have skipped all of them on Wii and DS back in the day, but I would consider this if it ever comes to Switch with a complete physical release, but considering that Activision has a history of crap physical releases (cough Spyro) I can't say that I am optimistic at this stage.
@Silly_G totally get it. For the first year or two of the switch I stood my ground and pretty much only went physical. But after a while I gave up when I really wanted a game(much like this). It was THE reason I got a ps1 back as a kid. This game blew me away when it came out much like mario 64 did. I lost all my ps1 stuff except the console and cables so to rebuy the games, and controllers to play these games wouldve been just as much of a hassle unfortunately.
hopefully tony hawk pro skater 3 comes down the road as well enjoy playing as darth maul on a skate board and wolverine in that one.
This is the version I'll be getting, had held out hope this collection would eventually make its way to Switch. First Tony Hawk games I'll play on a Nintendo platform since Downhill Jam way back at the Wii's launch.
@delt75 - For the most part the soundtrack is the same. I believe they lost a few tracks due to licensing, but they have added some worthy ones (I could be mistaken though). Overall, the staples are still there.
I did a play through on Series X and it’s pretty incredible. Same nostalgic feel and sound, but incredible graphics compared to the og launch consoles, and welcome updates.
I’ll be buying day one on the Switch, too. This kind of gameplay is ideal for the platform.
Never would have guessed
Have this on XBone, didn't play it that much (despite it being excellent) but on Switch I can see myself putting many hours into this. If it's a solid day 1 port, i'll definitely grab.
@Shambo this this this. I'd love to be able to snowboard down away from avalanches, race, do the big air tricks, preferably on a plane to go actually ski... (I also grew up with mainly handhelds and a love for portable gaming)
Fingers crossed for a winter reveal...
I'm definitely picking it up physically.
I used to play this until my hands cramped into claws. I don’t think my subsequent arthritis can handle this remake lol
🤷🏻♂️ Won’t hold my breath, tired of buying inferior releases on switch just to eventually buy them on PC, they really need to release a switch pro
@kingbk problem with COD is that it is a very space consuming game as we all know.
Activism themselves said that COD cannot fit anymore on a 500 GB PS4.
Even we don’t get Skate 4 from EA, we at least get this game
