Re: Video: Take A Look At New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe In This Introduction Trailer

@BenGrimm Its not about thats its about Nintendo pricing issue that they have always had. 6 year old games should not be full price. Its pretty much a middle finger to the fans. You wouldn't buy a 6 year old console for full price because even a year or 2 in they drop by $50-$100. God of War and Red Dead Redemption 2 stayed full price for just a few months before going on sale and wont be long before they drop to a new permanent low. No other developer prices there games like Nintendo does. The only exception is COD which stays at a high price an that is not a model you want to build you franchises on. Look at Red Dead 2 as an example. Came out in October, AAA game with extremely high budget, one of the best looking at highest rated games on the market. $80cdn or $60usd, it is now on sales for between $15 and $20 less and most retailers it will drop to that pretty quick an that is a brand new title.
This is a 6 year old game in a new package for full price and as its Nintendo its likely to never drop. It isn't economically wise to do jdjkakhdksjnsg like that. They could sell loads more if it was a cheaper game but full price tag is BS. If Sony, MS or Steam did that you can bet there would be social media posts blasting them.

I mean come on, look at Spyro Reignited, the full retail is $40usd. That is 3 games rebuilt from the ground up from scratch, new audio, voice acting and graphics. They didnt even have the original code they had to rebuild that too. So why is Super Mario Bros U Deluxe a full price $60 game when all they did was repackage it?

@Cosats Dont get me wrong I love Indie games, some of them make my list of favorite games easily. But on the Switch its extremely hard to sort the good from the bad. How many damn times have I seen Astro bears own the front page of the eshop. I'm not saying that there aren't good Indie games I'm saying its extremely hard to find the good ones. I always find myself looking at youtube videos for reviews and then going to the eshop specifically to find the good ones. The same low price garbage games always appear at the front of the eshop because they are cheap while the good ones are buried. It's a pretty common complaint. Even when you look at Youtube video talking about consoles and the UIs and shop that's always a good eshop complaint is having to siphon through the shovelware.

@Medic_alert The only thing I had wrong was the patent. I should have said copyright the dance move an not patent it. You can trademark a name as well as a logo an branding. As per below the product is technically the dance. So they could trademark "Flossing" or "The Carlton" as a name and then copyright the dance associated with it.

100% big fat no from me. I refuse to pay $80 for a game that came out 6 years ago that is nothing more than a port. How does Nintendo still not understand, thats not how the damn market works.
Games like Shadow of the Colossus were full ground up graphical remakes and were $50 and that is the same across the board. You can get HD remasters of the first 2 Batman games, highly rated classics for less than $30 for both. This is a total ripoff

Re: Nintendo Goes Discount Crazy With More Than 600 Games Now On Sale In Europe

@misterMike and as we all know by now, Nintendo almost never discount first party. I picked up Odysee a few weeks back as it was the first time i had ever seen it on sale in the entire year of its release. I like my Switch but thats why i will also pick my PS4 over it. I know that AAA titles will drop in price within a few months and i cannot afford a full $80 price tag of new releases in Canada.

Re: Nintendo Goes Discount Crazy With More Than 600 Games Now On Sale In Europe

@misterMike Actually i just checked and the NA one doesnt seem too bad this time. Normally the EU get some of the higher end games on sale whereas NA gets a crap load of Indies and not much else. Nintendo seems to have an issue with quantity over quality, unfortunately. Th amount of Android and iPhone games on Switch is staggering and most are utter garbage at 4 times the price.

Re: Nintendo Download: 20th December (North America)

I really wish Nintendo would fix their pricing on games when compared to everyone else. I can get Yooka-Laylee for $32Cdn on the Eshop right now. Oh ya know..get it for $16 on Xbox or PlayStation. That counts for virtually every game. Its digital, it should be the same price across the board. Nintendo know that they are usually a second or third system for the majority of gamers but the pricing always means i buy my games on other systems.

Re: Rumour: Nintendo Might Be Renaming The eShop

I think my biggest issue with Xbox UI and the store is the in your face advertising. On PS4 and even Switch all i see are my games and my content. On Xbox its just adds for junk everywhere and pushed content. That drivers me insane that its so cluttered. The PS4 i have folders for games and thats it. The store is its own thing and it works. I still dont understand why the xbox doesnt have an add to cart feature, thats the early days of the internet tech and it still doesnt have it.

I will agree on the page cannot be displayed issue on the web browser but i haven't had it for a while now. Everyone has their own tastes of course an thats fine. I just dont understand anyone that says the PS4 UI is garbage and hard to use when saying that the xbox one is easy and nice to use. The Xbox One is a lesson in how not to design a UI for anyone, opinions aside its terribly designed to any standard. I will say that as much was i want more from the Switch the system itself is clean and quick. It shows my games, no advertising, no garbage, is just works.

Re: Rumour: Nintendo Might Be Renaming The eShop

I love my Switch but the OS and the shop feel years out of date. The only other exception would be Xbox, that store is a mess.
I still dont understand how people say the PSN store is bad compared to Xbox. But the Eshop just constantly shows terrible phone ported games for 3 times the price. All the good stuff is buried under mounds of terrible games and its near impossible to find what you want.

Re: Lots Of The Switch's Biggest Games Have Just Received Huge Black Friday Discounts In Europe

earthinheritor

@Captain_EO There is no logic to that though. Mario Odysee sold about 10 in its first 4 months of release. Red Red 2 sold 17 million in its first 2 weeks and is on sale for Black friday. There are hundreds of examples like this. Same with God of war and anything else. Mario Odysee sold well by console sales comparison but thats it.
Rockstar knew they could keep making money but still put it on sale.

@Wintersoulis Pokemon never had a challenge so i never did understand this argument. I had Red and Blue on the original Gameboy an never once was it a challenge. For the most part you could always use the starter..just like every single other pokemon game. I did that in X as well. I've seen a lot of people argue that this one as too easy but they are all easy. They are meant for children not adults.

Re: Switch Online Is Going To Be The Place To Play Classic Nintendo Content, According To Reggie

earthinheritor

What is Nintendo's problem with listening to fans, they just dont seem to give a damn. Everything from poor online ability and apps to game priced and even available of old titles. People want the new other generations like SNES much more than NES an thats the overall opinion not just mine, so what do we get..NES.

So people turn to pirating and ROMs because there is no official way to get those old games not unless you managed to find an old system..so what do they do? Sue the ROM sites to get it all removed and still not provide a way to play classics. If they gave people an option pirating would drop, it wont stop dont get me wrong, but it would certainly decrease for those systems.

i love my Switch but it just feels like Nintendo exists in an age where the Internet doesnt exist, just like the way they treated youtubers.

Re: Square Enix Reports $33 Million Loss After New Studio Shifts Focus

@NEStalgia My issue with the gear was price, same as you, but also no one vendor sold what you need. You had to remember what cities and axes, or swords or bows and what cities has body or leg or arm gear.
I sometimes got to a city got all the good stuff, had no money left, then the next city for the same level, but a different character arc, and the gear was better and i had no idea.

Re: Square Enix Reports $33 Million Loss After New Studio Shifts Focus

earthinheritor

@NEStalgia Agreed some just lasted far too long. I understand the challenge but some of them are challenging regardless of the length of the fight it was just rinse and repeat.
The other issue with bosses i found was that you might be dealing ok with enemies, you are just about right for the dungeon just challenging enough..but then the boss seemed like it was designed for a dungeon way off in the late game content. There was sometimes this odd jump of level.

I also wasn't a fan of the magic system, that someone can cast fire but not fire on all enemies, but someone who could do light or dark was one or all. Same with Ice as well.

I was hoping for a bit more depth of skills as well. It seemed like a really shallow system.

Re: Square Enix Reports $33 Million Loss After New Studio Shifts Focus

Octopath traveller. The music and graphics were stunning, the stories were sometimes interesting. But i had 2 major complaints with it.

Even if you were multiple levels above enemies the battles just dragged on an on sometimes with no end in sight. Even with the double classes and the gear it was wouldn't stop. The other is the level gap between story chapters. I could beat the bosses at chapter 4 around the right level but then the final chapter was miles above my level and even the small enemies on the path to the new area could destroy me in a split second. The level gap was just way off. The game forced you to grind just to do the story. I know its JRP culture but it can be done in a fun way. But long drawn battles you can easily win just because the enemies HP is insanely high but hit low made the battles feel like chores.

Re: Feature: What Do You Want From A New Nintendo Switch?

earthinheritor

Not higher specs, we saw this with the 3ds and then a few new games only worked on the NEW one forcing people to upgrade the basically the same system.

I think the screen is fine, people are asking for 1080 which make no sense in a screen that size as you wont really see a difference.

Internal storage would be a great idea.

Either way..just..maybe finish the current version before you ship a new one. The UI is still missing some major features that people want, get that done first before you announce a new system.
